Steven Kindsvater, MD reviews
6I had an unknown Heart condition then a major attack. Dr K was the attending physician, he saved my life and helped me get back to playing tennis 12 hours a week. I lucked out getting him. He is very matter of fact but if you do what he says you get great results.
This doctor save my life with an honest treatment plan that was to change my life forever, not with pills or surgery! You might not like what he tells you but listen to him, I did and it was life saving advice. A plant based diet was the only way to reverse my heart disease. Thank you Dr. Kindsvater for shooting straight with me.
One of the most unprofessional doctors I have met. I went to him for a follow up after an open heart surgery. Rather than focusing on my health and medicines/ways to make me feel better, he was more focused and upset on the fact that I went with a different surgeon than he recommended. He was working with full of spite and was giving me misinformation. Some other things: -
1) i waited one and a half hour before seeing him.
2) his junior doctor and nurse came to see me and his visit was very brief.
3) he portrayed a gloom and doom scenario only and only because my surgery was done by a UTSW surgeon rather than BSW’s. So much for putting your patients first.
Initial exam was conducted 90% by a "fellow" (intern) who made thorough notes. Dr Kindsvater breezed in at the end, barely glanced at the history which included that I am sensitive to statins. He proceeded to prescribe a one-source very expensive 'fish oil' for high triglycerides. AFTER filling the prescription, I noted that it had exactly one test of effectiveness and that in conjunction with a statin, which I am not taking. Also found a program online making it $10 per prescription (not mentioned). I called him back and he got very defensive and refused any remediation. Went back to my previous cardiologist (much farther away), who used the term "snake oil" for that particular drug. Guess I drive the extra distance.
Dr. Kindsvater, thank so much for the service and attention you have provided to my mother during her hour of need
