Sugar Land Animal Services

Just wanted to let people know do not adopt from Sugar Land animal control. The reason being they only allow you up to 5 days to return a pet if for some reason it doesn't work out. After that your on your own. My son adopted their recently and has tried everything to make things work with the dog they adopted their and it has become a daily challenge for the the dog and family. Other shelters refuse to take the animal as well and said that being the animal was adopted from Sugar Land they should take her back he explained they refuse. Most shelters encourage people to return the pets to them if for some reason it dose not work out. I'm just saying if you adopt from their be sure to read all the fine print because once the time has past and if something develops your on your own regardless. This is not fair to the animal or family.

I walked in letting them know I was interested in adopting a dog and was immediately handed an iPad to look at their pictures…. I found it very strange that they don’t let the public back to see the dogs. No idea if the facility is clean or the animals are well taken care of since I was only allowed in the lobby.

I went in there and they were very disrespectful and rude towards me when all I wanted to do was give my poor kitten a safe place to be taking care of. They even proceeded to call the police on me for animal cruelty for no apparent reason at all which I still never got a full understanding as to why. I just want whoever is reading this thinking about taking a rescue animal to this place that it is a big no go and I wouldn’t recommend at all! If I could give them a 0 star I would.

I wanted to let everyone know that this place gave me the best gift in the world my little angel when she was a little puppyI had the opportunity to adopt her and take her home. Her name was Rivka but we named
her Kira after we adopted her. It’s been an amazing journey with her on our side. We are planning great things with her! Just wanted to say thank you!

Great staff. If you are looking for a new pet they have animals that have been well cared for and socialized. Animals can be taken home for a couple of days to see if they work well in your home/family before committing to adopt. If you've heard about issues in the past, the staff is now new and fully committed to the best care of the animals there.

Petopia is by far the best shelter. I fostered a sweet, sweet dog. She is now the Ambassador! All the people are so kind and wonderful. Please volunteer, adopt or foster!

I found one kitten on I-90 Highway, Kitten was so scared, been shaking all the time and I took kitten to that shelter to save kitten. I’m not from here I came for business trip and can’t hold the kitten. When I arrived to Shelter I wanted to leave kitten there. They asked me for Sugarland ID. They refused to take kitten. I told them and showed them my ID to proof I’m not from here but they still asked me for local ID and refused to take kitten. I’m very confused that place called SHELTER refusing to help animals. Sad to see.

I No this is from my own personal experience and not no one else's but the service was good people were paying attention and Attentive very professional and can't we to come back whenever I have other service needs

Clean facility animals are well taken care of. You can tell the employees really care about animals. Adopted my little dilute calico. She is very happy and playful. Love her
