Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center reviews
20 The people that own this rink are greedy, overcharging and rude. It’s very obvious the people that own it do not care for the rink and are not willing to make it a better place for skaters and hockey players, it needs to be taken over by someone with an actual passion for the industry.
SLICE has been a staple of sugar Land for years, it’s sad to see what it’s reduced to because of greed.
So first of all I’ll start off by saying I haven’t been ice skating in 11 years. I was super excited to go finally! And also it was my 9 year old daughters first time Ever ice skating.
Pros: Smooth ice, Lots of space to sit, Vending machines, Good skates, a pro shop for merchandise and lots of parking
Cons: There was no supervision on the ice what so ever. So lots of (out of control teenagers) grouping up standing on ice. Blocking natural flow, Cursing using lots of Foul language, unnecessary use of the push around sled (the seal for kids). Inappropriate clothing, Dirty bathrooms and I mean dirty dirty, and there was a few puddles on the ice.
So as a first time experience it was 3 stars. It could be better with supervision and a good set of rules. That are announced at least every 30 mins for the teenagers that need to be reminded to act right in public around children.
Even as a adult I came there to enjoy my self not have too listen or deal with out of control teenagers.
This was a fun evening activity for kids. But its more enjoyable and you stay over an hour if they come with their friends.
The public entrance fee differs not according to days of the week but on the no of hours per session. If its public session is for 2 hours it is $12 if 3 or more than the entry/person is $14. They do have ice seals for practicing kids available for rent at $10/piece.
Do not play ice hockey here. The rink is terrible and choppy and the referees are even worse.
Communication skills lacking didn't say on website anything about a hockey game was around 15 people waiting for ice skating just to be told they had to come back tommorow SMH
Turned away at the door; no signs stating the rink is at max capacity. Made multiple phone calls prior with no answer, and then find out they are only using one of two rinks
Well just one of the rinks is open and has been that way for 6 months. The locker room bathrooms are disgusting and the rink doors are frankly unsafe. Other than that, it is a great place to open skate or play hockey!
Wasted over a week trying to book a party all because of their “business model” of only communicating through email. What would have been a 20 to 30 phone conversation dragged out for over a week. Lost both options that were purposed to me because it takes Kelly 24 hours to respond every time. What a ridiculous business model when your in a customer service business.
It was my very first time ice skating. I was having a great time, until I got injured. I wasn't taught how to properly fall or had any warning as it was my first time. I had to go to the ER and get 7 stitches on my finger. The staff needs to be better trained on emergency first aid and dealing with beginners. I don't have health insurance so compensation from management for my hospital bill will be appreciated. Still had a good time, just wish it didn't have to end the way it did.
Very good opportunity to learn how to skate, teachers are very professional, especially coach Emily, she cares and encourage kids to be better skater. She is very helpfull as well.
Pretty great place. Staff and patrons are wonderful. Ice can be choppy at times, but they're improving it every week!
Daughter was there for a birthday party. Facility had friendly staff, ice in good condition. They had training toys available for inexperienced skaters. Overall very good place for public skating.
I go with my daughter all the time here, it is affordable and nice place. I advise everyone to take their kids her. It is absolutely worth it.
My daughter tales lessons @ SLICE. The learn to skate program is affordable, consistent and a great outlet for my 7 yr old. It also give us some Dad/Daughter time. Thanks for being open through Covid-19. SLICE is wonderful.
The staff is very friendly. The hockey director Erin gave us lots of help and always answered my question when I asked her in emails. We all enjoy the time in SL ice sports center.
Saw The Nutcracker on Ice. Even with Covid, they managed to put on a great show! Little tiny ones ice skating is the BEST!
This place has a lot of history for me, it was my first job in high school, I met my husband here as teenagers, husband proposed to me here. This place isn't a shiny as in its heyday when I was a teenager. The ice isn't as good/kept up, the proshop isn't much other than some jerseys and little things. That being said it still has memories and we are making more with our teenagers playing hockey there now.
I would rather go here than say to the Galleria for skating any day. This place is great to take your kiddos to skate, not too packed and plenty of parking.
The ice rink is really nice and the really well maintained compared to other rinks in Houston but the locker rooms are getting a little old and not as maintained as I would like it to be
Update: thanks Mark for taking care and signing up my kids! Looking forward to attending this weekend!
Went with 8 people, two groups and each transaction the cashier stated $6. I thought that was odd and cheap, I get home and see the charge $55.99. Two parties heard $6, when I called back she said “I never said $6”. More than willing to pay the price, but don’t bait and switch me. Should have looked and questioned my receipt at the time of transaction. It is was fun.
