Sugar Pine reviews
20 Customer service and atmoshpere is top notch! We did take-out once and then dined in today as a family. We felt so relaxed as we enjoed our amazing meals. Wow! Pork katsu and chicken udon were so tasty moist and tender.overall, perfectly cooked! ️ you definitely notice the high quality ingredients used and food was served very fresh. Our daughters absolutely LOVED the ice cream they ordered and the lady is so patient and is such a gem that helped the letting them taste all flavors.
We went around 3pm today (Jan. 23).
Thank you, Sugar Pine for such a welcoming dine-in experience?

Adorable little spot. The atmosphere is just lovely, with comfy blue velvet chairs, little succulents scattered around, and great music playing.
Food: tried the fried tofu, katsu pork, house fries, and chicken gyoza.
Everything was so yummy. My only complaint was that the tofu was soft. I prefer extra firm when eating fried tofu, but that's a personal preference.
Love their salted fried tofu
The jasmine tea is also really good
And the chicken katsu Curry
Counter service spot with everything from ice cream to soup, coffee to beer, and surprises in between. I would never have guessed they were an Asian inspired spot if I hadn’t been searching for udon.
The Onigiri was delicious! It’s made fresh to order and my one to go was great the next morning! The chicken udon included too many ingredients for what I was in the mood for (more like ramen dish than simple udon), but was still great.
We will come back, for sure.
Unfortunately didn't get any photos of the food, as it was devoured instantly. Service was fabulous and quick. Food was delicious. Drinks were solid for the price. 5/5
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, which added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. I tried the salmon, spicy tuna, and avocado origiris. The flavors were perfectly balanced, they were all delicious. We also had miso soup, which was also great. But what truly stood out was the Yuzu Caramel ice cream. It was a flavor like no other, a perfect blend of citrusy yuzu and rich caramel. This unexpected delight was the perfect way to end a fantastic meal. I highly recommend Sugar Pine.
Lovely food! Must try the black sesame icecream.
Onigiris are amazing too - tried spicy tofu and pickled vegetables.
Everything was decent but the main feature could be improved significantly. The pork katsu was a bit dry on the inside, didn't have much flavor in the breading (some places make their own in-house and it is great, maybe mixing some coconut flakes into it would help?) and the Asian coleslaw could use some work. Mix things together and more flavor.
Worth it for the miso ice cream though if you want something unique for a dessert, I didn't get mine with the caramel sauce, as that is primarily just corn syrup, but all by itself, that flavor is particularly good. In my top five all-time for ice cream flavors!
So good! Definitely scratched the itch if you’re looking for onigiri in ATX. I did notice that it seemed like the rice balls were falling apart, which maybe could have been the rice used? So we ended up having to use a fork to eat ours. That being said, they were pretty good and we’ve already discussed coming back for lunch next time we’re in the area!
Was it a fever dream or did we really just pay like $50 for two sets with soggy katsu, curry that came out of a box, dry rice, cold miso soup, all served cafeteria style next to a noisy highway? I just don’t understand these reviews
Felt overcharged for what we got. Onigiri did not taste like it was made with sushi rice and the filling was all canned fish. The pictures look great but the food is disappointing given that onigiri is the restaurant's specialty.
The food is good, the decor is modern and chic, it’s always super clean, the staff is exceptionally friendly. I want this place to be successful bc of all these things. It’s a little pricey and never busy. I wish it weren’t on the 183 frontage road, it would make the patio more enjoyable and perhaps more popular.
This is my 3rd or 4th time here. The servers are always so kind and friendly. Lots of natural light and always clean. The ice cream is my favorite, it's made in store and the Thai tea is to die for! The onigiris are tasty but fall apart easily, so they're a bit messy to eat. One of my favorite cafes!
Pretty good restaurant with parts of Japanese cuisine you don't see at most Japanese places.
My one complaint is no soda, but in Austin, that's like 50/50.
Love this cozy place. Was searching for an onigiri or japanese restaurant and so glad to find this gem! Food and service were awesome including coffee! Great spot to hang out and just chill with delicious food and drinks! Parking was plenty too. We'll be back for sure! Ohhh the cookies and ice cream/sorbet were yummmmmyy as well!
One of our go to restaurants. Delicious and healthy food, super nice owner and employees, and fun atmosphere.
Great ambience. The indoor and outdoor seating areas are both nice. Ice cream is great. Food items are a bit pricy, and can taste a bit better.
First time going and we loved it! We tried the Spicy tuna onigiri, veggie noodle plate, & Katsu pork. It was all 10/10!
Lovely atmosphere, food and service. The Salt & Pepper fried tofu, the Katsu pork were fried to perfection.
