My wife is a patient here and on the evening of 01-29-24, there was a male janitor who walked in as she was taking a shower! Men should NOT BE ALLOWED ANYWHERE IN THE WOMENS AREA, ESPECIALLY THE SHOWER AREA! My wife made a report of the incident, and we WILL do a follow-up to see what was done to the employee and how they intend to correct this Dangerous incident so that it will NOT happen to any other female patients. She GREATLY suffers from PTSD now that this Dangerous incident took place.

This place is horrible. Don't come here. Go to another hospital. I checked in with an iphone 15 pro max and a debit card and they stole it. I will be calling the police. I usually dont contact attorneys but Im going to sue them for the trauma they inflicted on me.and my phone. I want to see the cameras. People screaming and yelling and fighting and trying to hit either the staff or other patients. I had a patient try to steal my shoes. Police officers do not send patients to this hospital. I told my insurance not to approve the claim. Good luck getting the money from me.

My child was recently a patient here for 6 days. I was very nervous about her being here since there are soo many bad reviews but to my surprise she said everyone was very nice yes some staff are a little more rough with some kids but because these kids show no respect according to my daughter the food was decent, the atmosphere was ok kids fighting but she had no problems her whole stay here and she’s feeling better. Some of her stuff we dropped off was never given to her like a hoodie and her inhaler but over all Thank you to all the staff and remember treat others like you want to be treated! Respect is the key to everything! Thank you Sun Behavioral staff!

I brought my son into Sun Behaviorial Houston. My son was made to pick up trash while being yelled at by a staff member. Next, I was told my son got into a scuffle he started with a another patient. However, my son told me it was because he didn't want to keep sharing with this one patient who was picking on him earlier. My son suffered from trauma from being bullied at school and now its happening on day 2 at the hospital. However, I will give them their flowers for finding the root of my child issues. But they were horrible about communicating with parent. I had to call and find out what they diagnosed my son with. The day before his scheduled discharge they called and told me on 01/08/2024 he was to be released for 1pm on 01/09/2024 but it could change the day of they will call me and let me know. I agreed and told them NOT to tell my son before they knew for sure that he was being discharged. The therapist calls me with my son in the room and tells him he is going home on 01/09/2024 @ 1: 00pm so when the therapist said I assumed they cleared it with the psychiatrist and verified to my son on 01/08/2024. He was so excited and happy to come home to me. On the day of release on 01/09/2024, they told me I could not get my son. I said for what reason and on what basis I wasn't told anything. They just wanted to keep him one more day. Which I know it would caused my son to have a bad outburst so they can have a reason to keep him longer than planned. Trying to milk my son medicaid insurance for no reason. So they called my husband and my husband in return called me. As a result, I called them asking them why would they lie to me and my son stating that he will be able to go home today and the day of he cannot come. I asked them not to tell my son that because I know what outcome will come out if my son is lied too. This is why I asked them not to tell them until they was sure he was going home but they did it anyway. So the told me the discharge will be AMA (Against Medical Advise), and they won't supply his medication he needs that keeps him on track which I know is against the law. So I will be seeking counsel if my son does not receive his medication because you're mad that I made you stick to the words that you gave to me as the parent and my child as the patient. I will be reaching out to medicaid concerning this hospital. I will never ever ever bring my son to get help here ever again. If I cannot trust your word I cannot trust you all with my child.
They did discharge him on 01/09/24 as planned a day prior but refused to give me his meds.

They are rude and very unprofessional and I had friends leave there with bed bug bites that are now infected they are nasty and don’t clean.they try to force on random medication. They have very little care for there patients and horrible at answering the phone and barley know what they are doing. DO NOT SEND ANYONE HERE IF YOU LOVE THEM. This place is disgusting.

This place was godawful for the time i was there.they told me i was going to be there for only 5 days and held me for 9! Not only that but the staff is just a whole mess, and the food was terrible.the only good thing about this place is LEAVING AND NEVER COMING BACK. DONT SEND YOUR FAMILY HERE IF YOU CARE FOR THEM! They like to give random medications that make you act like a different person.i dont even know what the gave me but it made me really aggressive, and the staff try to force it on you by saying it will impact how long you will stay by not taking it. THIS PLACE IS FULL OF LIES AND FALSE TRUST. DO NOT GO HERE.

I don't know if with time or years the patients or doctors become indifferent to the human side of each patient, and if treating them with indifference and giving them bad treatment, speaking to them with bad words, threatening them with punishments is normal for all hospital staff.

As for my opinion, it is a terrifying experience to have a family member in a mental hospital, regardless of whether they are going to be treated as such “mentally ill” and medicated according to what they see fit.

So don't expect to be treated with affection in this place, and be careful because that won't be the case.
My advice is to help your loved one as much as you can, take them for a walk in the park, be active, give them their medications at the appropriate time and as a last resort go to hospitalize them.

If it is a risky situation, they will be sent directly to the mental hospital. I had my relative here and it was not pleasant at all. There were days of anguish, but on the 7th day he came out and I would not want to take him back. I'm just saying that.

Completely traumatized by this place even months later and I feel like there’s nothing I can do about it… I will never be the same after my time spent here. I can’t even begin to explain the rude, dismissive, and ableist staff they have working at this place…One example I can give though that I will never forget is that I was admitted in December when there was a threat of another freeze in Texas and they kept the AC so cold you couldn’t sleep without covering your face and when I asked a nurse what they were going to do about turning the AC up for the freeze (THE NAME OF THE NURSE WAS EBONY) she said she didn’t control the AC and I quote “I don’t know what y’all gone do but I can go home to my warm bed. ” to a bunch of involuntary inpatients…Extremely insensitive. I will never forget her saying that. The staff is there for a check and not to help patients clearly. My mental health is worse instead of better after leaving this place…Most of the people who are giving 4 or 5 stars are only speaking for their loved ones and not people who actually stayed in the facility…DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEM!

I just admitted my son after he had a horrific traumatic experience. The staff were Top Notch. All class professionals and were very considerate. I'm certain the reviews would be much higher if everyone who came here against their will didn't write whatever they felt at that moment because they weren't getting their way. Parents reviews are exemplary.

The place should be shut down. It’s a hell hole who illegally gives invega sustenna to people diagnosed as bipolar. Evil evil place. They gave me a drug orally that caused me to pace non stop (Akathesia) and then gave me an injection that stays in your system for months with the same ingredient. Seriously should be looked into. They gave me the strongest dose at 234mg when I had showed an allergic reaction before hand. An investigation should be done. It’s an illegal operation.

Let’s you see family once every two days and only let’s you call daily for 15 minutes.receptionists barely pick up the phone.the staff don’t care about their patients.they stick you in a room to color.more like prison than a mental hospital.

This place is horrible. I stayed here 13 days this time and it was pretty pathetic. I have a composition notebook with 33 pages worth of complaints written in it. The patient advocate who's supposed to take your complaint and perform necessary actions wouldn't even talk to me. He did not do his job at all. And him along with most of the staff. Doctors, Techs, and Nurses are extremely unprofessional. I hated my stay there! They make up rules as they go. I will be filing a claim when they bill my insurance. Meaning no payment from me! Screw y'all. And I contacting the necessary agency to take action on my complaints. This place is a zoo. Nothing but possums and elks. They suck. Just be smart if you plan on checking in here. Goodbye.

Whatever you do-DO NOT EVEN SEND YOUR WORST ENEMY HERE….
The ONLY good doctor there is Dr Barber.
If I could I wouldn’t even give them 1 star….

Superviser charge nurses, AND NURSES will consistently blow you off. The doctor if involuntarily committed WILL keep you like a prisoner. I am not depressed, or anxious…. And Dr. Choubkha- KNOWING I AM 33 weeks pregnant-Attempted to cold turkey me off my medication putting my life in danger AND Baby girls life in danger…. A formal complaint was filed against Choubkha, thelma (nurse) ……Knowing I am high risk AND pregnant-KNOWING I am NOT depressed or anxious…. After the complaint was filed someone made it “disappear” it was thrown away from the supervisor box from even seeing it…. And then medical the doctor THEN prescribed legally I am entitled to see a doctor within 12 hours-It was 17 hours before seeing any doctor…. The night nurses are now unplugging phones at night to prevent patients from using phones to call out…. To obtain any help…. When I was having horrible cramps being 33 weeks-I was told take this tynoel and lay down and you will be fine…. The doctor is holding my hostile there. I am waiting transport to go back…. Even though it has been past 72 hour involuntary commitment…
I haven’t changed any medication and I am not wanting to hurt anyone or my self…. And they will not release me. Worst place ever. This hospital a year ago was ontop of its fans now a year later-I wouldn’t send my worst enemy here.

I was very happy with the choice we made to take my son to Sun Behavioral Hospital.
The staff-receptionist, nurses and doctors did a great job. They were professional and compassionate. My son was very happy and felt safe. I would recommend this hospital highly.
Thank y'all for all you all did for my son and I. May God bless y'all abundantly.
