Tacos Doña Lena, Houston TX

What a restaurant! The food was A+, customer service was brilliant, and it was a cool place to hang out. Especially the outside sitting. Decoration goes perfectly with their food.

We were looking for good Mexican place and found Dona Lena. It's a fun environment full of color and nice staff. We had a tostada, Chanclaso, Torta and quesadilla. All of them were superb in terms of flavor. This is the type of place you order at the counter and they serve you at your table. The gentlemen at the counter taking orders was very helpful with our selection with excellent customer service. Once the food arrived at our table, we dug right in with no time for photos. The food was pipping hot, fresh with delicious flavors. The server was great explaining the different hot sauces and helpful with questions. The agua fresca was the best I've ever had! This place deserves 10 stars!

WOW! Last night was the first time we've tried this establishment I ordered the chicken street tacos. And was blown away by the amazing flavor! They were so good I was planning my next trip moments after the last bite!

What a wonderful place to stop and get a quick snack or feel yourself up! The server Handy was extremely helpful with what salsa is mild and what is wild! At first I thought it was a gimmick. But no, this stuff is genuinely delicious. Come one. Come all and bring the kids.

Finally tried this place! I got their tinga tacos ($2.25) & beef quesadillas ($4). Both were absolutely delicious! I also tried my friend's birria quesadillas which were good too. Loved the sauce selections. I came with my Mexican friends and they mentioned this is definitely overpriced compared to other taco places but you're paying for the hype/Yelp reviews and the interior design. I saw a couple on a first date there so it's a nice casual place to meet up for relatively cheap eats. I'll likely return if I'm craving a solid taco place.

I had the quesabirria, taco de pastor, taco de chorizo, taco de chicharrón.

It was a great experience over all! The Chilaquiles Rojos were so good. I would recommend to come here when you want so true Mexican food! Environment was welcoming for sure. Service was great too!

Man! Woman! Hey Y'ALL'S this eatery is bumping! Michael explains everything like a manager. Great! Service. The food is exceptional. And I just wish the place was bigger just rent the spaces on each side.

A beautiful place, a little piece of Mexico with very beautiful music, delicious food and Mexican drinks, an extensive menu with great options, 100% recommended if you are looking for a Mexican place to eat.

Best tacos I’ve ever had, ate 10 my first time here. The place was busy the entire time and the staff were all friendly and food came out quick. Will be back soon.

The tacos here are legit amazing. Went here on the way to the CFP National Championship game and was packed, and for good reason.

the sauces (dressings) are fun and delicious, good service! It is a very picturesque place.and very rich.

If someone is going to this place for the first time, do not sit down without first ordering what you want to eat since the waitresses do not take orders. This is what I recommend to me, so don't waste time.

The team here is always so courteous, kind and attentive. I can't ever leave without trying a little bit of everything. Finally got to try the Birria Ramen and it didn't disappoint; plenty of flavor, meat, egg, cheese and love.

This place is number 16 on Yelp’s 2021 Best Eats for a reason: the food is spectacular. What I love most about Tacos Dona Lena is that the food is straight forward: nothing fancy, just simple preparation packed with flavor. They bring a variety of sauces to your table in a metal bucket and arrange them by spice level. If you can handle the heat, I suggest trying them all.

I’ve tried the entire menu. Seriously. My favorites are as follows:
Chilaquiles (red) - my favorite and go-to order. It always hits. Always. The chips are the right mix of crispy and sauce-soaked. Just a bit of heat. Ugh. I’m hungry thinking about this dish.
Gordita (pastor) - YUM. Just absolutely delicious.
Torta - My husband’s go-to order. Zero hesitation. The chorizo torta is something the man dreams about.

If it’s your first time there, go family style so that you can try a bit of everything! The first time we ate here we got tacos, chilaquiles, gorditas, enchiladas, and the torta to share with the table. It was absolutely the right move.

Tacos Dona Lena is THE place I bring folks when they visit Houston. Everyone can find something they like, the food is reasonably priced, and it’s just quality, delicious food.
