Taste of China reviews
14Food tastes great, quick and friendly service! We always have a great experience here. If you’re looking for good tasting food this is the place.
Ordered 5 dishes for 3 people - wanted to try everything. Everything was fresh and delicious. Took home leftovers! Pleasantly surprised - 1st time visit - would go again!
We’ve been here a couple of times before but today’s experience was very upsetting.we had called to reserve a table for dinner but when we arrived a few minuets before our reservation time they didn’t have a table ready. It was very clear that a couple groups arrived just before us because they were still looking at the menu. The waitress just told us we’d have to wait, so we didn’t. I’d suggest if you don’t intent on holding tables for reservations then maybe just don’t let people reserve from the start. We definitely won’t be visiting again.
This place doesn't even deserve one star. They don't even know what "reservation" means and how to treat their customer with reservation. Awful service! Will never visit again and tell our friends don't go.
Great food, all dishes seem above average. Clean and a bit more upscale than most Chinese rest. Price reasonable
Very disappointed in the amount of food was given and quality of the food. Chicken dish barely has much meat in it but mostly vegetables and peanuts. Appetizer portion (least for take out as we did not dine in) was a joke. We thought this restaurant would taste much better than compare to the one we go to in Austin since Chinese food in Houston are mainly much better but the meatball dish is for sure not as good.
My friend ate at this restaurant and had food poisoning and a fever the next day. Just because they ate a dead crab at this restaurant. We are now looking for a lawyer to sue.
Restaurant is really pretty but service requires some attention. I came to Taste of China to try out if they can host my party of 20 people. I was disappointed with the menu. Too many dishes were whited out. I came here to try again, but it was closed early for a big party that evening.
The food was great! Everything was fresh and savory! I’m not a tofu type of person but I tried it and it was good! The owner gave us the 5 star treatment! Highly recommend!
This is one of the absolute best, authentic Chinese restaurants in Houston. The quality of food is so high and it’s always absolutely delicious. The grandma’s pork belly, Xiao long bao, and cumin lamb are all so amazing! Definitely worth a stop!
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Houston Chinatown. The restaurant is very clean and adorable, really like the decoration, it was a very traditional Chinese style. The most amazing part is the authentic Chinese food, very impressed.highly recommend.
I was able to try multiple dishes when I went here and am glad I didn't stick to just one. I was beyond impressed with the service and everything here. The tastes were bold and well thought out. Highly recommend the Drentched Bran in Lucky Sauce. I am not a tofu eater but this one dish had such an amazing Flavor. I recommend going with friends and basking in the ambience. Get mutiple dishes and eat with people who's company you enjoy. You won't regret it.
If I could give them no stars an still write a review I swear I would…I called my order in an it must be because I’m black the lady at the front register was more than just rude to me she yelled at me and thru my card on the counter and my receipt. Never have I ever. SMH all because over the phone I didn’t understand that she told me cash and I just simply didn’t understand her. I will never recommend this kind of service. My money spends just like theirs. I hope I don’t eat my food and get sick cause honestly that’s how bad the lady treated me and yea I could’ve just said forget it but I wanted to try it an I live past humble an there is no taste of china out there. Last time…but to sum it all up I drove that far to be treated in such a manner. ️
Food 5/10
Service not bad.
The toothpick lamb dish is so overwhelming, it's heavy, greasy, and overloaded with MSG flavor. The dishes are not elevated, they are just there to fill the status quo for an "authentic" Chinese place. Same old stuff. Nothing exciting.
Lastly, the price, robbing people without a gun.
