Tellez Tamales & Barbacoa, San Antonio TX

Stood in line for 30 minutes, (20DEC. 21) for tamales. I was excited, but totally disappointed.the tamales did not look fresh.they were dark and the meat was crunchy.paid over $50 for 4 dozens. I will never visit this place again.staff was friendly.

I have been going to Gen McMullen location for over a decade. Tamales are good but they have gone down hill after the factory moved to Bandera location. It was amazing watching them make tamales while waiting in line. Now they pride themselves on tamales delivered in or frozen. I stop going as of today after the most popular tamales are sold out by 6am. The owner says our tamaleras work overnight to have fresh hot handmade tamales daily starting at 5am. Great! Put a sign outside get here by 4am get in line because by 7am no tamales only frozen. Ludicrous business practices serving the public by these hours.

Love the tamales from here. SO DELICIOUS! Get their early because they run out and lines get long.

We drove in from South Austin to check on these Tamales. They are The Bomb. The breakfast tacos and the Barbacoa tacos awesome. Took us about an hour to drive and check Tellez Tamales & Barbacoa. 5 Stars… We will be back.

Love the Tamales here and everything else just got to get here early or they will sell out. Great service.

Has always be easy access we picked up their delicious tamales and a couple of breakfast tacos from the buffet line

Had been craving tamales for weeks. The one on se side has gone downhill big time! Tried teller and read reviews so I took a chance! And these tamales were the best I've had in a VERY VERY long time! Im so glad I found this place. Holidays are around the corner guy's! Get your orders in!

The ultimate in Tex-Mex Cuisine. Whenever I visit San Antonio.this is my go to place for all that delicious Tex-Mex, down-home, cookin'! From the Barbacoa, to the tamales, to the fideo loco, to charro beans, to the homemade flour tortillas, to the hospitable service. OMG. Tellez is the best in all areas.can never get enough of Tellez! ABSOLUTELY DELISH!

They did not sell bbq tacos only bbq by weight? Have not been there for a.while.they also took the tables off.only a few. Seems like they are making it pick up only. What? Awe

The Menudo was good but had alot of grease n fat had the Barbacoa had no flavor had the bacon and egg the egg looked like it had been sitting for while wasted 76 dollars

Awesome tamales. For those of you from California and Arizona who are used to real tamales, not that I'm knocking this TexMex style, you gotta try this place. The masa is delicious! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because they don't make jalapeño & queso tamales which happens to be my favorite. Give them a try, you'll be happy you did.

Excellent food and service but limited seating. Especially crowded on Sunday mornings Long Lines

Tamales had a funny taste, the corn torllias the taste is not like the ones they use to have.

We had such a great experience picking up our tamales and barbacoa this past Sunday! Brenda is a true gem here and we look forward to coming back! Great customer service and delicious food!

The owner was so polite and friendly. The food is the best; fresh tamales and corn, flour tortillas everything there is always freshly cooked. I highly recommend this place. May God continue blessing this place.

CANT BELIEVE HOW THEY =MEASURE= ALL THE SERVINGS TO THE MENUDO AND BARBACOA.
SERVES YOU ONE FULL SPOON OF MENUDO AND THE REST IS ALL JUICE, YES ALL JUICE, BUT YET WANT TO CHARGE A VERY HIGH PRICE. QUART OF MENUDO IS $ 10.98 AND WHEN YOU GET TO THE CASHIER RESULTS IN $ 13.00 AFTER RECEIVING THEYRE TIP I GUESS. TRY TO EXPLAIN TO THE CASHIER AND WAS IGNORED AND DIDNT EVEN LISTEN TO A WORD I WAS SAYING. CANT DO BUSINESS WITH RESTAURANTS THAT MEASURE THEYRE FOOD! RIP OFF!
DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO NO ONE.

Was very disappointed with pork tamales. Masa was too thick and had no flavor. They used to have good tamales.

Barbacoa and Tamales are amazing per their name. This is also my go to place for Menudo. Available all the time and full of flavor.
