Texas Currency Exchange reviews
5Very corrupt. I was quoted $1,196 for a euro to usd amount via phone call. That's before showing military ID. Went in same day and after showing my ID it was lowered to $950ish. This was December 7th around 1600.

I needed to get some money exchanged and have used this business before about 5 years ago. However, I had trouble remembering where it was in the River Center mall in downtown San Antonio.
I called the phone number associated with them in maps, and Danella answered. She was very helpful and advised that they are located near the Footlocker and Avis businesses on the second floor. Note, the mall address of store #383 doesn't match the mall layout (in fact, there are NO numbers on the stores), and the number implies the 3rd floor. Their name also does not appear in the mall directory, at least that I could see.
Manuel was on duty and very knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and quick. He took care of me after all those in line, and I was in and out faster than it took me to find the place.
Some items to note:
-
1. Plan on paying for parking. The best place is in the garage behind the mall. It is the mall parking garage, too. 1 hour and less is $15. Surrounding surface lots are $18-20 at the time of this post.
2. Call to make sure they (a) have your "to" currency on hand, (b) understand the fees, (c) when they take lunch, and (d) what forms of payment are accepted. Credit cards are not taken, leaving USA debit cards and cash that are taken.
3. Pay for your parking at one of the kiosks in the mall before you enter the garage to leave. These accept cash and credit cards. Once this is done, leave. It is easier to just scan your payment receipt vs.trying to get your credit card accepted at the unattended exit gate.
Hoooo… i got ripped off around $100. Worst exchange rate ever. Feel so bad.
