-2 Stars***Notice that most 5 star reviews are from owners and NOT tenants. We're so glad to be done with this company. My family rented a 4/3 on Juniper Vale via Texas Homes Realty (THR). Immediately after move in, the homeowner, Reverend Tyrone Obaseki informed THR that we needed to pay a water bill that HE accrued prior to us moving in. After we proved it wasn't our bill, THR informed him of his error. Afterwards, THR kept suggesting that we purchase the alarm system subscription, I suspect, because it would make us responsible for the 3 yr contract that the owner had with ADT, but we refused.

When we needed a major repair, it took a 1 to 8 weeks due to the owner's home warranty company, and THR did nothing to try to accommodate us until repairs were made. During the winter storm, it took them almost 2 months to fix our water heater & 2 years to fix electrical & other issues in the house, despite being reported on the inventory move in form. The property had poor insulation & thin 1 pane windows so we felt the temps outside daily. Every summer, the A/C went out and it took THR at least 1+ weeks to fix the unit, so we were often burning up in a sweltering 90+ degree house. We purchased a dehumidifier for some relief, & it filled up at least 2-3x daily.

Every winter, ice formed inside of the windows, cold air blew through the fireplace, cracks of the doors & windows. The heater also performed poorly & didn't distribute heat evenly throughout the house causing us to freeze. We had to use the stove/oven to keep warmth on the 1st floor daily along with insulating the front windows and the door cracks even after installing weatherstripping.

The first year, our rent increased $200 understandable, then the next year $300 more a total of $500 in 2 years. What's worse is that owner & THR decided to play games with our lives. At first, the owner decided to sell the property, then he changed his mind and decided to renew our lease at the current rate. Once we agreed to the current rate renewal, there was no response from THR for 1 week. Finally, we were informed that the owner changed his mind again to increase the rent by $300 for a longer term, rescinding his offer to renew at the current lease rate. In just 1 month, the property was being prepared "for sale" to offering us a new excessive rate increase. This gave us even less time to decide or give proper notice to vacate. However, the increase wasn't justified due to the property's condition. We only stayed 6 more months due to school, then we moved. But before we did, THR offered another rate increase for $200 m2m. Starting from $1,800 to $2,500 in 2.5 years, Ridiculous!

I would not recommend anyone rent from this company. We were patient with these people, we kept the property clean and always paid our rent on time without fail, we even had a credit on our account yet we received uncaring customer service that was insensitive to our needs as tenants. When we moved, we fully expected them to take our entire deposit in which they did despite leaving the property clean. THR charged us for every single thing that they could, & even some exaggerated charges. However, we decided not to fight it because we are in a better place now & just glad to be done with it all.

The customer service was unsatisfactory. The only people who exhibited decent customer service were Donna, Octavia, & Mr. Gambino. I would suggest that the other employees take a customer service class, including Jackie, the owner. I would NOT recommend this company at all.

***Jackie, your response is insensitive & arrogant. This is "my experience" with your company so your opinion of my chosen time to post it doesn't matter to me nor invalidate it. If you were really concerned about us as tenants then, you would have shown your concern for us while you were visiting to view the property in preparation to list it. Instead you stood mostly in the corner by the door acting afraid of my family while we were warm & welcoming to you. Do better & work on improving your service to your customers.

The realtor company has been awesome. Lori has helped every step of the way. The major problems we’ve had is with the home not being ready like we were promised on move-in day. The house wasn’t cleaned upon move-in date. The carpet was not shampooed or changed. There were stains in the carpet. There were a lot of scratches, stains, and cracks not repaired. When we voiced our concerns Lori was on it and got the major concerns repaired. But overall, the experience with the realtor company has been good. I would recommend Lori for anyone looking for a realtor in Houston. Lori is 5 stars but our experience as a whole is 3 stars.
