I went to get an oil change at my dealership. They told me that I needed to replace the whole timing cover. My dad told me to go to these guys to get a second opinion. They also told me the same thing. Well a couple of days later Clay the guy who runs the shop called and told me it was not that, and it was the o-ring on the engine filter was not on properly. I am glad I went with these guys the saved me thousands of dollars.

I just had a new rebuilt engine installed in my Silverado by Texon. Truck is running like new! Clay explains everything very well and is honest. I do recommend this shop! Engine with labor was 4K less than the offer from Sterling Mccall Chevrolet! Same warranty.

I initially gave a 5 star review since the motor came back strong and ran well. After about 9 months I can offer some additional feedback. Harmonic balancer pulley bolt was left loose. Actually found this laying in the fan shroud while checking fluid levels so I am glad it didn't fall out in the road or I would not have known. I called, was told to tighten it. I had already taken that step but was calling just to see if there was something else I should consider or if it was a possible issue I needed to have looked at.

About 2 weeks ago the truck developed a knock or pinging sound. I had a local guy look at it and he told me it was an exhaust manifold gasket. I made arrangements for the local mechanic to fix it. The passenger side had 2 broken bolts. The driver side had 2 loose bolts. Since Texon uses new gaskets on this part I have to assume the broken bolts and the loose bolts contributed to the failure of the gaskets.

I called and asked if there was anything else I should expect or any other areas I should have someone pay attention to while they are working on the gaskets. I was told no, not really, sometimes the old GM (2007 1500) products are that way. I was also told that it sounded like one of his guys may have gotten in a hurry and missed a few bolts. I was told to bring the truck by and they would look at it and make it right. I believe they would have. The issue is a 2.5 hour drive one way. The timeline to diagnose/fix. The possible return trip to pick up. Would I have 5 hours round trip in one day or 10 hours? The loss of use also makes it not really feasible to return to Texon. I do not question the integrity of Clay in any way, I believe Texon would have fixed it. The reason for the updated review is that after 8k on the motor plus more for suggested repairs and install I should not be tightening a pulley bolt or looking for loose/broken exhaust manifold bolts. After 8k on the motor whoever is doing the rebuild or install should make sure these things are done correctly and not getting in a hurry.

Would I use Texon again? Sure. If I was close enough to actually benefit from the warranty. Clay seemed and still seems like a good guy. He is easy to talk to and answers his phone. I just wish there was better QC from the shop.tldr:

1. Motor seems solid and quiet.
2. I believe Clay would have fixed but circumstance does not allow it for me.
3. For the money I spent more care should be taken at installation.
4. Would use again if close enough for warranty care.

Mr. Clay took great care of my truck and I! I was given a quote with an estimated 7 day turn around and got my pride and joy back with a new engine in right under 5! He even fixed my tail light which wasn’t part of what we talked about originally, but he did not want me to get stopped on my way home! The final price was EXACTLY what I was quoted, and there was great communication from him throughout the entire process. This is the first time I’ve had a job done that didn’t require me to call in order to get an update, he called me any time something changed. Very kind and acknowledging, he treated me like family. 3 weeks later and absolutely no issues!

Ask for Mr Clay, kind friendly guy. Came here to get a second opinion on head gasket blown. Mr Clay explained all issues and kept in touch. Highly recommend.

As always they did extremely good work and good prices while being on schedule. They will remain to be my go to place for any and all automotive machine work. The front desk folks are knowledgeable and honest, my last job was difficult and he pulled a machinist to review it before accepting the job and time frame. They saved me from having to replace a $1200 SBC head.

Great service, very professional, I have 2003 ford f150 and decided to install a rebuilt engine, it was that or go and spend 70000 on a new truck lol. They gave me a great price and updated me on what other parts that could give me problems later on in the future.
Overall this is a great place to have your truck worked on!

In June, 2023, I brought my vehicle in to Texon Motors after multiple bids from other shops that claim to rebuild engines. Those shops that wanted my business also wanted a blank check for services not rendered with no estimate and no estimate of completion. When I called Clay with Texon Motors, he was very clear on the details of work to be performed on my Jeep and included a written estimate via email and in person when I arrived.

When I dropped off my vehicle, Clay covered details of the warranty prior to work to be done. About a week and a half later, I picked up my Jeep from Texon Motors where again, Clay covered the warranty in details. About a week later, I had informed Clay I had a small oil leak from the engine. Concerned, Clay asked I bring the Jeep in to diagnose the oil leak and provided me with a ride home.

About three days later, I picked up my jeep and it was good to go. I appreciate the level of service I received from Texon Motors. I decided to go with Texon Motors from the decades of experience rebuilding and replacing engines that reflect their BBB positive ratings. Thank you Clay and your crew for the care you all took with my vehicle while in your shop.

Clay was excellent at helping me get my Mustang diagnosed and a new engine put in. Had some complications and it drove the cost higher then expected but had the work done and got the car back in less than a month with a new engine. There have been a few adjustment issues and they have been very good about getting the issues handled as they arise. I am very pleased with the experience overall. Thank you

Have had nothing but problems from the start.
They had my car for almost 3 months putting a rebuilt motor in.
I took it back for an oil leak, told them to go ahead and
start fixing it last Thursday, then they called me Monday to see if i wanted them to get stared on it. Finally picked it up today, got home, and the engine cover is missing! Th I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I had a great experience bringing my Jeep in to Clay and his team. My check engine light was on and I received service the same day I brought my vehicle in. I definitely will return for future services!

Service great would recommend they replaced Motor in 2002 Mazda car runs great. Better than buying another car and didn't know what I was getting. Better off working with what I had and it worked

Had to put in a whole new motor but Clay and the team did a great job. Customer service was. So far, my truck is driving better than it has in years.

I took my car to texon motors to rebuild the engine. Everyone was friendly. Clay was patient and kind. They worked with me to figure out what's wrong with my engine and were accommodating when it came time to pick up my car. I believe that I've found an honest car shop. Wish it was closer though!
