The Annie Cafe & Bar reviews
18 Brunch at Annie’s is an experience that comes with a hefty price tag, not for the faint of wallet.
The food? Satisfactory enough to not distract from the real main course – the people-watching. The place is impeccably maintained, a shiny backdrop for the parade of high heels, designer labels, and the other fake things. Service? Let’s just say that the waitstaff might be too enthralled by the ‘gram-worthy scene to get your order right…
If your follower count is your most prized possession and your phone eats first, Annie’s is your runway. Bring your best pout and a fully charged phone – you’ll need it to navigate through this selfie sanctuary more than the menu.
Very disappointing service and food for the price.
Very slow, we had to ask multiple times for them to bring us silverware, coffee came almost at the end of the meal, they were cleaning another table close by and all the dust landed on top of our drinks, food was just ok.
Food is average and overpriced. Service is slow. I am very disappointed and won’t come back.
I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The food was subpar, and the iced coffee left much to be desired. The service was painfully slow, and the only redeeming quality was the pleasing aesthetic of the place.
My family and I went here for the first time and we were really happy with the overall experience.
As far as the atmosphere/ambiance, you’re not going to find a nicer place. This is definitely an upscale dining experience and they do what they do very well. This a good place to take someone to treat them to something nice. Depending on how nice the places are that you frequent there is a very good possibility this could be nicest restaurant you’ve been to. It’s that swanky.
The service was really good. No shortage of staff as you see with some places. Only reason I didn’t give a 5 star is because there were several times our cocktails sat empty for a longer than necessary time. The cocktails are really good by the way.
The food was really good. We ordered the Salmon (amazing) a chicken dish (amazing) some bacon wrapped quail (amazing) some ceviche (amazing), pecan pie (amazing), apple rum cake, (amazing) biscuit and jam (amazing) and a variation of a chicken fried steak, this dish was the only reason I didn’t give a 5 star on the food, the beef on this dish was cooked a bit to much. It was good, but not to the same standards of everything else.
All in all…. 4.9999 Stars.
We will definitely be coming back. And it’s absolutely a place you should try if you haven’t been here.
Glad we came!

I've been here many times as I live nearby. But service was extremely lacking on my visit. Brought my mother here for her birthday and I didn't feel acknowledged or welcomed. I sat at the bar while I waited on my mother to arrive and I was not acknowledged by the bartender (Kailyn) for several minutes, despite the fact that there were only a couple of other people seated at the bar aside from myself. As a matter of fact, I had to call out to her to get acknowledged. When she finally came over there was no hello nor apology for the wait. She just said what can I get for you, which took me aback. When my mother arrived we were just shown the door to the patio, no one seated us and most tables were dirty. We had to flag someone down and ask for a table to be cleared off, We sat down and we were once again not acknowledged nor greeted for over 10 minutes. I had to flag a server down who was visibly annoyed because she was tending to a large party and giving there dog rubs and a bowl of water, meanwhile we had none. This is the same server that I overheard arguing with the server that finally took care of us because before my mother arrived apparently she don't want to take the reservation. The entire time we sat there waiting on a server we saw several managers touching the other tables and being attentive to them, while we didn't have a menu nor glass of water on the table and we still had yet to be greeted! Not exactly the impression I wanted to make with my Mother for her 68th Birthday. Along came Jacob and he saved the show, he was personable, attentive, friendly and he truly saved the experience. The food was mediocre, my Mother enjoyed her dish, my salad green were rather browned as well as the avocado. But because Jacob was such a joy all was well! I hate to play the race card, but it's obvious that because we were women of color the assumption was that we wouldn't tip, but I'm in the industry and I work in fine dining so I tip above 20percent. I also refuse to spend my money where I'm not treated fairly. So for that reason I'll not patronize again! I'll also post my review to Yelp as well as social media. I Had also asked to speak to a manager but they never came over to the table. Kudos to Jacob, you're a rockstar!
This place is adorable and very aesthetic! The only problem is the pricing is high considering the taste (or lack thereof) the food. The food lacks a “wow” factor in flavor. It’s definitely a great atmosphere and place to hang with the girls for brunch, but food was not memorable in my opinion. I had a great experience, though! Service was exceptional.
Food was very good, service was really slow…. Waiter looked so overwhelmed!
Message to management - hire more staff, pay them well, keep them happy!
We were shocked about the service, considering it is on the expensive side for brunch. Our group of 5 was very frustrated at service. Won’t go back.
Valet parking is complementary and convenient.
Excellent food here and perfect atmosphere and vibe. The staff was so friendly. We even got a tour of the speakeasy while we waited for our party to arrive. We came for restaurant week and glad we gave Annie cafe a try! Will definitely be back for brunch to enjoy the balcony sometime
Unfortunately this time around we did not have a good experience.
We were sat in the main dining area (which is really loud). It took about 10 / 15 minutes for the waiter to take our drinks order, 30 minutes after we were sat we still had not been served anything.
We probably will not come back. It is a shame, we had an excellent experience during restaurant week (though the service was also very very slow). For such prices, i expect much better service (they should take lessons from their sister restaurant B&B butcher where the service is astonishing).
Great experience, delicious food, but my waitress could not keep my small water glass filled … business lunch, expect it to be quite loud with social gatherings.
What’s up with walking in with a reservation and the manager doesn’t even say hello? I was just standing there next to him waiting to be seated and he didn’t say anything just walked me to the table.
Wouldn't come back, the food was incredibly bland and possibly one of the worst margaritas I've had anywhere.
Came in without a reservation on a Friday around 4 pm. It was my first time in but had been getting marketing emails about new happy hour items and other offerings. There was no wait to sit in the bar area and the restaurant was beautiful and clean.
We got menus with no mention of the specials id been getting emails about. When I asked the waitress she didn't know what I was talking about so I had to pull up my email. She mentioned they didn't even make the drink that was in the email so I substituted for a margarita. It was a weird back and forth.
We ended up getting the pigs in a blanket, bacon wrapped quail, tortilla soup, oysters, and shrimp cocktail. The seafood was good, the other food was not worth finishing and bland. Disappointed because the atmosphere is so wonderful.
1st time here. Won't go back. Had an 8: 30 reservation and arrived on time. Once seated Gary was our waiter and brought our waters. He then returned to tell us that Andrey would be serving us. Needless to say Andrey was not acknowledging us so we asked Gary to take our order. Each time Andrey would come by our table he either just looked at us and moved on or if we asked for something he'd tell us with his finger pointing give me a minute. Very unfriendly person. We complained to the manager who also gave the same attitude. Very uncaring and never returned to follow up on our complaint. At $100 a person I would expect better service. As far as the food goes it was good. I've had better for less money though.
Atmosphere was very nice but for the cost, we expected good service too! Drink service started off wonderfully with Barry. He was friendly, and attentive. But then the table was transferred to Andre and he was TERRIBLE. After waiting 45 mins and no recognition from Andre, we spotted Barry. He again was nice enough to take our entree order. We only saw Andre when it was time for the bill. Complained to Management and he did nothing and didn't appear to care either.
In conclusion, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else!
Visited for brunch. Was great! Gave it 4 stars and not 5 because the coffee for a high-end brunch was sub-par to say the least. Burnt, tasteless, bitter. They need an espresso machine.
Monday caviar happy hour that has been advertised is completely fraudulent and management is blatantly unprofessional.
The Annie is the place you want to go with your girlfriends! It's incredibly aesthetically pleasing, the atmosphere is lively, and the cocktails/food are noteworthy. Especially, the espresso martini! I went with a group of friends on a Thursday night and the staff was super accommodating when we wanted to sit in the main room after accidentally booking bar seating. This would also be a great spot for a brunch, which I cannot wait to try next! Highly recommend for anyone visiting Houston!
