This place is definitely extremely helpful to homeless people.unfortunately, the downside of it is that some will literally camp there. Not necessarily the place you want to hang out at for too long

One of the very few places that are actually helping homeless people who need and want help.

They have alot of services like showers, laundry, mail, food, and many other services.

I'm "In between homes" (temporarily homeless).

They are helping me now!

Thank you!

Ive been homeless on the streets two years now and when I found out about this place is was a life saver. They wash ur clothes and let u shower supply the hygiene and towels and feed you. We watch movies during meals and prayer before everyone one. Staff is wonderful and everyone treats each I'm other like family. Housing is a bit slow and for women little white girls like myself who have we never been on the streets much less in Houston and those with trauma and disabilities or mental should be first

It's a vital resource for the downtrodden. They offer logistical services like laundry service, a stable address for correspondence, meals, medical and psychological assistance, housing and employment resources and a few more that I'm either not aware of or not sure that they still offer said resource. For instance they don't offer gold card screening. I'd imagine the ones that utilize this resource center really appreciate the beacon.

The Beacon is basically both a daily homeless services place. It also assist with both temporary and permanent housing. The people are incredibly nice and PROFESSIONAL. No complaints! They do what they advertise.

The place is much more organized and cleaner now since the pandemic. They help with retreiving your Gold Card, (medical access), mailing address, meals, free laundry, free clinic and free clothes. In times like these, these places are good togo.

I felt so uncomfortable seeing displaced people changing clothes in front of the building, others sleeping on the ground, some arguing, and a few looked as if they were almost dead. There has to be another way our city could help these poor people. The Beacon is a blessing for those in need to offer different services free of charge once they get inside.

Well upon arrival I smoked a joint with some people on grounds and was banned for over 2 years, contributing to 3 years suffering being homeless. I was told before partaking it was a minor offense not "lifetime ban" offense. The others were back in within a week, I was not allowed back for some reason until I met one of its benefactors and they forced them to give me services again. I was off the streets within 6 months after that. Change your freaking policy if you haven't already. 30 Day ban for drug use, not lifetime, hence the 3 star review. The Beacon dominates the Homeless Services Community and losing services really traps someone into begging for a living, which is illegal in Houston. They offer free coffee and a free lunch to all, with showers and laundry if you can get there at 5am when the line forms. If you show up after about 8am you'll get the Coffee, TV and Lunch. They also have ID Recovery and Mail Service as well as Housing Assistance.

I give a shout out personally to " The Beacon "along with my caseworker who also partnered up with "The Salvation Army" for knowing the difference between a Hand Out & a Hand Up. I'm a single, young individual who was let's just say less fortunate for about six months. I decided myself to do my homework per say & see what type of assistance was out there for someone of my caliber who was & still is a work-a-holic. Meaning a person who works constantly to stay above ground. Anyways I was so humble & grateful for the assistance I received! Of course you have to want to help yourself before anyone wants to help you. I continued to check in every month on the status of my case & lo & behold I received a roof over my head with all bills paid & three months of rent paid in advance along with the deposit! Now this encourages me to stay on top of things & stay afloat. The Beacon also feeds you on certain days out of the week with a hot meal. You can also receive other types of assistance such as help getting your TX. Identification card, Snap benefits, along with other services. You just have to be patient. The Beacon also has security on-site incase someone tries to get out of hand. If you are sleeping outside of the Beacon at times you have individuals & sometimes groups of people from other sources bring you personal hygienes, food, sack lunches, blankets, etc.

I give 2 stars better the staff was nice. The worker that did my intake didn't follow up with me when a case worker was assigned to me so I had to go stay with family. He said email was a better communication and never responded to any of my questions or concerns after I got signed up. The feed you a meal and that's it.

Homeless and no kids? This is the place for one stop shop for your needs. Line up early, ld to get in system to weed out the crazies. Wash clothes, shower, lunch, and plenty coffee. Compass helps a lot. Check em out. Closed Tues and Wed I think. Beacon rocks, just mind your own and don't let the other homeless get to you. You'll be fine and won't regret it. Thank you Beacon volunteers and staff. Oh HPD too.
