The Contemporary Austin - Jones Center reviews
7All of the art was very beautiful but the whole experience was ruined by a rude blond with her hair in a bun security guard who said “you’re blocking the art” and “your not allowed to have photoshoots, just take a picture and leave” when my friends and i decided to take a picture in front of a contemporary art piece on the second floor and the continued to follow us and make ugly faces. This was the first picture i took in-front of an art piece and mind you there were families and other people taking MULTIPLE photos in-front of many pieces. But in the area we were in there were no people and we weren’t blocking ANY art so this comment was disgustingly rude and made the whole experience awful. We came to visit from out of town and didn’t even feel comfortable taking a picture like other people because of how awful she treated us. This was unfair treatment and completely uncalled for. I suggest training security staff better because the art was no longer enjoyable after this incident.
Lovely, open, manageably-sized museum with a beautiful rooftop space. Rotating exhibits always present diverse and intriguing artists’ work.
Beautiful exhibition of paintings by Ore-Giron, great view from rooftop
My daughter had an artist talk there and showcased her work. It was awesome. Very beautiful bldg
Smaller than I expected. Interesting exhibits, however the third floor (which was an open event space I assume) was totally empty. $10 a ticket wasn’t so bad, but wish we could have seen more!
Visiting and I was hoping to find out what the admission was for myself and friends.
I am familiar with museums per my travels but not understanding the difficulty in finding out the admissions here in Austin.
If I have to show up to find out the price then it’s a One star
Space has great potential but the exhibit was strange and limited in scope. Thank God it was free day for visiting.
