The Crab Trap Grill reviews
16Prices are too high for this establishment. They are about the sane as Pappadeux but h this place is no Pappadeux. Flavor of the fried Shrimp and Crab Cakes were good. Flavor of the onion rings was on point but the breading was falling off so it was difficult to get a good bite. The inside of the establishment is cramped and extremely small like a diner or cafe. The restroom is a port-a-potty outside. The mosquitos were in abundance both inside and outside the restaurant and atrocious making it difficult to have a pleasant dining experience (we visited late October). Some citronella candles could’ve helped with the mosquito issue and also could’ve served a dual purpose by providing light when the power went out, lol. Our server was excellent and during the time the power was out she maintained composure and continued to see to the needs of our group (party of 12). She did bring the wrong plate to my dad but it was difficult to see with the lights out. I was impressed by her dedication to continue service during the power outage.
Funky old building but don't let that scare you away. The food is fresh and delicious.
For 7 years this was our spot. Our beach. Where we came no matter what. What the heck? This was horrid. Zero meat on the skinniest crab meat most expensive option, , unused Big Green Egg which used to be used for the tuna dip, removed of all hush puppies, from every dish, halved the amount of potatoes and gave a half corn cob for two.
After 7 years? Done.
This is now a tourist trap.
Also I paid $150 for one silicone cup and two silicone wine cups in the gift shop.
My fave is a tourist trap.
Run.
Great food and the staff was friendly. I ordered the Fried Catfish Plate $16. The waitress said oh it’s Friday and is on special for $10.99 it comes with 2 sides! My husband loved his Hamburger $8.99 and we shared my sides. We highly recommend.
P. S. The main street that drives directly to the restaurant there is a bridge that is out so follow the DETOUR Signs. It’s worth driving the extra miles to get there!
It’s also BYOB.
Delicious always
Really Enjoy going there
Staff is so friendly
Food is excellent
All I have to say is Diamond in the rough. Wonderful dinner. Don't let the exterior fool you. Loved it!
This place is amazing for a small town. It's a little gem, my wife says, and the kids love to sit and watch the boats pass by. It is very affordable and convenient when you have been fishing all day and don't want to fight going back to cook for the family. You can pull right up to a boat slip or drive and park. Definitely our families favorite place to eat when we come down!
I ordered the crab cakes and it appeared to be nearly 90% bread rather than crab meat. The wife loved the grilled red fish and grilled veggies. Nice homey atmosphere and wait staff were fast and courteous.
I had lunch here today with my grandson. I had the shrimp basket and he had the shrimp tacos's - The bill (before tip) was $44. I know they are about the only place in town but that's a bit high. The service and food were all good. The waitress was attentive and very pleasant.
Food good. Staff terrible, not a good place for minors to be without their own parents as the influence is not appropriate.
Fantastic food. Love being able to sit on Creek and enjoy the outdoors and watch boats go by.
Wife says they were the best shrimp tacos she's ever had. My pepper jack burger ranks up there. We'll definitely be coming back here again.
Do not expect a single item from the local fisheries.
The only reason this place was busy with a 25 minute wait was due to no other local places being open.
Get a contract with local fishers, serve xxxx and yyyy until you run out then go to what I can buy from ANY local HEB or Walmart. Not one thing is local.
I honestly wont vacation here again. Fool me once.
The food was terrible. I ordered grilled shrimp, and they brought me some boiled, butterfly shrimp that was the color of a corpse. My husband got Mahi Mahi and that was the texture of cardboard. I asked the waiter to take my plate back and just get something fried. Because that seemed to be their thing.
Fried shrimp was decent, but definitely not what I wanted.
The crab cake was disgusting as well.
This experience was sad bc we visited last year and it was good! Not sure what happened this go around. But I do know I won't return. It cost us over 100$ to eat fried shrimp.
I cook better at my house.
The place is nice. I understand the overpriced menu as the location we went to is by the Boardwalk but the food is not that great. The kitchen forgot our order and was placed late but the server apologized. Their drinks is served in plastic cups (For the Smoothies)
The food was very good! The Boudain balls were amazing, as well as the stuffed jalapeño shrimp. I had a burger that was super fresh. The bun was soft and had plenty of fixins. All 5 of us enjoyed our meals. Definitely a place to grab a bite! Closes early so plan accordingly.
