The Guenther House, San Antonio TX

Great holiday atmosphere and good food, but an hour and a half wait was a bit much for me, especially when you have toddlers to juggle.

Great food & the decorations for Christmas were beautiful! The store is closed so there's no shopping, which was a real bummer, but overall, a great breakfast experience while we're visiting San Antonio.

Very cute breakfast / lunch place with amazing history. It can get busy so be ready for a wait. Not a lot of vegan options, if your whole party is vegan I wouldn't recommend this place.

Been in S. A. 42 years. Never been there till today. Delicious, Excellent Food and Service, not to mention, what a Beautiful place.
I will be back.

More than an hour and 30 minute wait for waffles that were not cooked enough and chicken tenders that were not fried enough. The chicken tenders tasted like if they were the frozen type that they just heat up

We were having lunch outside and it was terrible first his attention unkind, not a nice person, he was attending me like he was doing me a favor…
He is too slow so slow that our food was 30 mins lates considering other tables arrived later (15 minutes) than us and they have the food before us!

The food is good, the best for me were the waffles, you have to arrive really early, they open at 8: 00 am, we arrived 8: 05am just in time to get a table outside, because inside was full!

The people attending this place is not nice and I mean the are not attending you cordially if you do not speak English or look like one, we are tourists but when you ask the name of the waiter and they are watching you texting a review everything change.

When I heard about this place i was in my house and I had planned to come every morning during my trip. This was my first and last time…

Terrible host/hostess. We were told there was no wait, took an Uber (about 5mins). When we got there is was a 1hr wait. "Oh I don't know who told you there was no wait". And it was the same girl who answered the phone.

I am an out of town visitor to San Antonio traveling alone to attend a conference. I walked here along the Riverwalk, calling beforehand to ask about the wait for seating a table for one. I was told the wait would be 15-20 minutes.

The restaurant has no access from the Riverwalk even though it sits alongside it. Pedestrians have to walk an additional 3/10 mile to enter through a parking lot.

When I arrived, the host told me the wait would be an hour and twenty minutes. I told him about my call to the restaurant but he was firm that the wait was 1: 20. I walked back the 1.5 miles to my hotel and won’t be visiting again.

We dined inside on a cool Thanksgiving giving weekend. The sausage gravy on the pioneer biscuits were amazing and a perfect winter treat for empty nesters on a black Friday shopping weekend

Their biscuits are the texture of cake. Amazing. Great food. Loved the jalapeno jelly. Nice place. Really beautiful people here.

We're visiting San Antonio for 1 day only and we were told this is the spot to eat for brunch. We called the Guenther House this morning to ask about reservations and wait times. We were told that they don't take reservations and upon arrival, they informed us wait times were over 1 hour 30 minutes. We could put our names on the list and wait. Isn't that the same thing as a reservation? ! And why wouldn't that be disclosed when we called? We walked over 30 minutes from our hotel just to get there and they were less than accommodating when we arrived. Horrible customer service and company policy. Never had the opportunity to try the food and we won't be back when we visit again.

Very beautiful place. Excellent food and excellent portions. Very good wait staff. Long wait to be seated but it is so worth it. I can't wait to go back.

If you go, sit outside. Their coffee is delicious. Everything else is just okay, I do not understand why there was a 2.5 hour wait one weekend. Lots of hype for nothing. And their gift shop is closed because covid.

The atmosphere is darling and makes you feel as if you are in a luscious butterfly garden instead of a restaurant. The pastries… to die for. Don’t leave without a cinnamon roll. It’s a must.

I ordered waffles and tacos both of which were really good! The area is beautiful and the service was great, the only downsides are the long wait times (1 hour 45 minutes) and difficulty finding parking. However overall my experience was great and I will make sure to come back!

I liked this place. A local staple. The service was great. The only reason I'm deducting a single star is cause there is no way to make a reservation and the wait is almost always 1hr+

Charming atmosphere - I recommend eating outside so you can enjoy the views of the garden. The food was delicious, cooked to perfection and photo-worthy. I would definitely eat here again.
