The Heights Emergency Room, Houston TX

The experience to go into the emergency at night was real fast real friendly, took care of my situation. I give it two thumbs up, and a better bill of health.

The staff was very nice but the care wasn’t great and the billing was traumatizing. I’m cash pay. This place is $2,200 just to be seen (compared with many other standalone ER’s in the hundreds). They spent hours on testing bc they thought it was my gallbladder, but found nothing wrong. Then billed be another $24,000.

I called my PCP the next day and he diagnosed me with pleurisy over the phone.

This ER ignored basic symptoms. One of which was that I only felt pain when breathing.

Took some ibuprofen and felt better after a few days

I had another emergency in October this year and went to lifesaver’s on shepherd. Cash pay was $200ish to be seen there for reference

This place isn’t want you want to rely on if you need emergency care.

There was a severe lack of urgency when checking jn for a patient with severe chest and abdominal pain. While the receptionist was very polite, there were tons of forms to fill out, despite the urgency of requiring treatment. I’m fine with the forms and check in procedure but I would expect at least a triage team to take a look and assess if immediate treatment is required. If you have an emergency, it isn’t going to cut it.

To add to the issue, when we decided to go to a hospital, the address they gave us for the hospital (Memorial Herman) on a printed form was completely wrong - it took us to a residential home. This resulted in a lot of wasted time getting to where we needed to go.

Excellent experience. Arrived at midnight, treated very empathetically and quickly by admin, nurse and doctor. While I haven’t seen the insurance bill yet it was a much less stressful visit than I had anticipated

My experience was a great one. The place was very clean, staff very polite and Dr.was on point and caring.

Went to the ER for a possible mini stroke last year. The EKG results were abnormal with Left Ventricular Hypertrophy. Instead of doing a CAT scan on my heart they did it of my brain and was told that I was having a hemiplegic migraine. They missed the heart issue which now has become severe. Had to get a CRMI, ECHO, CV CAT, stress test and see multiple doctors. I was missed diagnosed and the symptoms of a stroke were ignored. DO NOT GO HERE!

Love this place. They are always knowledgeable and helpful, especially Dr. Mendoza. I highly recommend

I always have great experiences here with doctors and staff. They are truly amazing and very hospitable. I came in due to some pain issues and was therapy checked out with CT scans and ultrasounds. They kept me a few days made sure I was well taken care of. I got all of my meds here and was able to be at peace. If you are looking for great care without the long waits. This is the place you would like to come to. Dr. Bob was my doctor and he kept a great repor with me and made sure I was always comfortable. Thank hmyou guys for everything and I'll definitely always come here before going anywhere else.

I was worried I had a life threatening condition. I CHECKED MY SUGAR AND IT WAS 344! I WAS WEAK ALL OVER!
I was worried I was going to end up in a coma. I had no idea what was wrong but they found the problem and I avoided a long hospital stay. I will return if I am in need of emergency care.

When the doctor is closed or something happens early in the morning these doctors and staff are the best.

I think a ton of people do not realize this is a PRIVATE EMERGENCY ROOM and they are able to deny you services if you do not pay upfront. The front desk was not too clear on things and she seemed a bit uptight. But this is just a park of working in private healthcare. I rarely go see a doctor so I don’t actually carry an insurance policy so my pay out would have been $2500.upfront simply to have a doctor even look at you.
I would have been more than happy to pay the 2500 upfront if I knew I was going to get service however the front desk lady was very iffy and was like yeah basically pay us a ton of money and we will see what we can do for you. It’s not exactly a tactic that you want to use when someone’s about to hand you a ton of money. I opted to not use this emergency service based solely on the attitude of the front desk. You can’t demand a large sum of money from someone and then basically tell them, but we may not be able to do anything for your toothache. It really just depends on the provider we might be able to send you home with antibiotics…. But still give us two grand. I just didn’t seem worth it to me. I ended up going to another private hospital that cost me double what they people ask for - but this hospital was efficient and the front desk staff gave me assurance that my toothache would be gone by the time I left. That is service I am willing to pay for-Heights Emergency Room could never…

Get ready to get hosed. On my third trip to this ER, mysteriously there was a new $800 facility fee that was not reported to my insurance company. From looking at the other reviews, it looks like some people were only charged a $750 fee, I was definitely charged $800. I was told this was because I hadn't met my deductible, so I expected to see it on the insurance EOB, but no. It wasn't reported to my insurance company at all.

Memorial Hermann ER is right across the freeway at Ella Blvd & 610, so I won't be back here. Additionally, even though this is an "ER", be aware that they cannot handle the same kinds of things that a many hospital ERs/trauma centers can handle. Don't waste your time if you have a real emergency, go directly to a trauma center ER.

This is a great ER, however they do not collect a copay when you are in for services. I thought all was covered by insurance because we had not received a bill in 6+ months. Next thing I know, I get a call from a bill collector threatening to report to the credit bureau. I was so confused and caught off guard. I explained that we had never received a bill and I wasn't sure why they didn't just collect the copay during our visit. It is a bit alarming to get a phone call like this! I will definitely think twice before going back to this ER, which is disappointing because it was our go-to.

We have been to this ER a few times in the past years and had good service and no problems with insurance. Went this past Sunday and they wanted to charge me $750 deductible. I explained that we have been there previously and was not required to pay the deductible upfront. That it needs to billed through the insurance and they will decide what I was responsible for. The people at front desk said it’s a new policy they started this year.
I went to Memorial Urgent Care down the street and only had to pay $50.
Really disappointed because ER is close to where we live.

My son had a dislocated Left index finger he suffered from playing basketball. He was so worried, along with his friends, and started calling the EMS. We did not want him to go to hospital ER as this is not a life threatening condition so we decided to visit The Heights Emergency Room as recommended by our friend.
Dr. Robert Phelan was the attending MD and we were amazed at how fast and efficient the service was. My son had his X-rays done and after receiving care, he was able to resume his hand function right away. Dr. Phelan saved the day and did a fantastic job!
The place is conveniently located and the equipments are state of the art. Good service, clean facility with a well thought out floor plan really makes this place stand out above all others. We are truly grateful to Dr. Phelan and his staff for taking the stress out of our emergency care. (Mark and Pie)

Wow. The Asian guy at the front desk is a piece of work. He's likely the owner and was extremely rude and nonhelpful! Dude, you work in health care. If you don't want to help people, get a new industry. I would never let this place care for me or anyone I love.

I literally just left and complimented everyone on the way out. I could not believe how nice and prompt everyone was! I will recommend this place to everyone!
