I visited this facility today and was very impressed with the staff and the homey environment. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The residents looked happy and engaged. I look forward to my mother's placement here.

My mother has been a resident for over 5 yrs now & I can honestly say that when I walk out the door to go home there is no fear or second thought of lvng her there. She is so loved and well cared for in such a special way that I know I could not have given her all she needed at home w me. The staff love her as one of their own family & love and care for me in that same loving way. I am so blessed to have mom in such a loving home atmosphere w 24/7 care!

My grandfather went here for rehab after having hip surgery. I toured the facility after reading reviews that were mostly positive since it had a 3.8 review rating. The facility appears clean and the nurses are nice. The lobby is inviting and visitors are screened and get a visitor tag. The outside is well maintained. Everyone seems busy with patients as they should be. The lady that transports patients to their doctor appointments was very nice and helpful. But communication is terrible with the director of nursing (DON).
I would call to see how he was doing and had specific questions about his care and health. I always left a message on voice mail or with the receptionist. I went 2 weeks without hearing from the director of nursing. Once a nurse called saying the DON told her to call me yet she did not know about or have the answers for what I was calling about, which I stated specifically as a message for the DON. When I spoke with the DON, she said she did not I had that question, yet I had left a message about that for her. I did not repeatedly call either so it is not like I was being a difficult family member.
I also found out after several days that my grandfather was put on a special diet of only purred foods. The nurse informed me but only after I asked how his appetitive was. She did not know who or why his diet was down graded. She did say a nurse can do so, but only a doctor can lift it. I was also told he was going to have a swallowing evaluation and someone would let me know the results. I was not told anything about the evaluation but he was back on regular food.
My grandfather was diagnosed with dementia 3 months before he was at the heights. It was sudden and he would have delusions. As a result he was on medication prescribed by a psychiatrist to help manage his condition. While at the heights, a nurse told me the psychiatrist at the Heights took him off of those medications! And apparently did so all at once, not gradually. No one, not any nurse or the DON could explain why other than a generic "Our hands are tied. The state is hard on us so we have to get patients off their medicines". I told both the nurse and the DON I could understand if it was a narcotic for pain post surgery, but it wasn't. It was a psychiatric medication. The DON said during her morning meeting she would ask the doctor and nurses and call me. She said she was writing it on a note and would call the next afternoon. I did not get that call.
I also had to keep calling just to see about getting him discharged because it seemed he would do better at his assisted living, with home health rehab coming to him, than at the rehab. He was there about 2 months and was still not walking. He lost so much weight and would almost beg me to get him out which was not in his character even having dementia. I was not called about when he was being discharged but the director at his assisted living was and she informed me.
About 10 days after his discharge the director called to follow up. She said they call at 10 days 20 days and a few other times to follow up and see how the patient is doing. I told her I was not happy with the heights and addressed my reasons. She apologized and said she would let the DON know. I told her that is who didn't return my calls or couldn't give me answers. She told me she wanted to set things right, please give her a chance saying she would be in touch. That was in February and its now April 21. Have not heard anything form anyone again.
I would never consider The Heights of Tomball for any family again. While the nurses, pt and other care givers did their jobs and were good to my grandfather (as best I experienced) communication was horrible. The way a psychiatrist took him off his psychiatric meds (prescribed by a psychiatrist) with no explanation or communication about why he was on them is awful.
I hope anyone that does choose The Heights has a much better experience than we did.

Nice facility
But got a little worried to see that most of the patients were coughing alot
Even my Aunt couldn't eat in peace for coughing so much. Then I heard that there was Covid present in the facility.
Other than that everything was fine.

I have been to this facility numerous times and the staff is always pleasnt and efficint. The only complaint my friend, who lives here, mentioned is the food.

The Heights has an exceptional employee on Cypress hall- Ms Erica. She has helped our mother and made us feel comfortable regarding her rehabbing at the facility.

A very clean n inviting atmosphere. The residents are vibrant n respectful. It’s apparent, that, they are also enjoying the good care they receive from diligent healthcare workers.
