The Shack Caribbean Seafood and Grill, Harker Heights TX

I had the Shrimp Mofongo and my buddy had The Seafood Mofongo and it was delicious. All of there food looks like Gourmet. A beautiful presentation.

The fish and chips was amazing! The mofongo mix seafood it’s the best! I have eaten here is fresh and delicious Great service and very affordable prices.

Had the fried yucca with the Conch Mofongo Very delightful. Recommend. Mofongo is def a must try. I also had the lobster and chicken empanadas to go. Fresh and great crust. Ample seating fast and very friendly staff.

The food is freshly made in authentic carribean flavors. The presentation of the plates is gorgeous. You definatley get your moneys worth of food. I had the mahi mahi dish with a white wine garlic sauce, fried plantains and salad. My husband had the strip steak with shrimp in a rosmary garlic sauce all fresh ingredients, and a salad with sweet potato fries. We ordered the catfish nuggets as an appetizer not realizing it was 5 whole filets! Everything was delicious!

They give you nice sized portions. The food however lacks flavor. If it wasn't for the great tartar sauce I probably would have given it a lower score altogether.

Don't be fooled by the reviews -

I ordered crab legs, shrimp cocktail, and fresh guava juice.

The crab legs I received were frozen clusters from Walmart, or worse. Most of the shells were soft/soggy and half empty.

The shrimp cocktail arrived WARM. Who heats up shrimp for shrimp cocktail?

The "fresh" guava juice tasted like water that that they let guava sit in overnight.

I was expecting high quality based on the reviews and got an absolute embarrassment of a meal.

Yes, it's a shack! They serve their plates as if it was a 5 star restaurant. It was my first time today and am Puerto Rican. The food takes you on a journey through the island. I was stuffed and couldn't stop eating. The service was so good. You have to wait a bit but it's because everything was cooked to oder. I also had the coconut flan and it was the best I ever had. My fiance and I get married later this month and I'm making changes so that I can have them make our meals. I will let everyone know how that goes. I haven't emailed them yet on the details lol.

This is the only place in Texas I have eaten where food is AAAMAZINGG, customer service and customer experience is outstanding. Bathrooms are so CLEAN, everything is so CLEAN, I even saw them cleaning the window blinds, one by one. This is what a restaurant should do in regular basis and you don’t see that anymore in well know restaurants. Great Caribbean music. I am so happy this place is only 2 minutes from our house. I usually don’t leave any reviews, but I had to for this restaurant. Ok, I am going to need to stop writing, food is on the table and I need to eat some octopus mofongo. You guys need to visit ASAP.

The service was amazing for a party of around 20 people. The food was delicious, I ordered the small red snapper and the souvenir sized pina colada! Highly recommended.

This place reminded of my mother’s cooking and true Caribbean food! Our server Natasha was amazing! She described each meal to us and helped us make the ideal selection. We had the tamarind juice, red snapper, fried pork mofongo, fried yuca, fried plantain, 3 empanadillas (shrimp, fish & beef) & the coconut flan for dessert. If you’re ever in Harker Heights don’t sleep on this place and if you want delivery or pick up they do that also! The place is clean and welcoming, they also have an outside dining section.

We give this place all of the stars and more! First time eating here and the food and service was exceptional. The presentation of our meals as well as the taste was incredible. The restaurant itself was clean, staff was friendly and attentive and the food was amazing. We will definitely be coming back again. Thank you and keep up the excellent work!

Absolutely amazing, fresh food great customer service, beautiful setting, peaceful location. I 100% recommend you try this place. Great for date night casual dining.

Called the first time to place an order and was told we could place an order online for future pickup in an hour. We tried and the something went wrong with the website. So we called to see if the order went through. No it didn't. We then asked if we could just place the order now since we were already on the phone. The lady told us sorry we can't handle anymore orders but we could try ordering food again tomorrow. It's now only 2: 30 in the afternoon. Can't even tell you if the food is worth it.

The food here is amazing. Just like being at the beach in Puerto Rico. Reminds me of an old restaurant in Escambron by the old bridge. They were down on staff and the food took a bit to get served but it was worth the wait. Eating out of "to go" bowls was a lot more enjoyable than I thought. They are only 5 min from home I see myself there a lot.

This is a hidden GEM! Diamond in the rough for sure! I live down the street and I always pass by and I absolutely love seafood and boils. This place had a combination of both amazing seafood and amazing boils even though they didn't have all the Ingredients the owners substituted the missing items with other items and it made the experience even that much better! I loved the vibe with the great music and homey feel ️ definitely going to be making this a regular spot from here on out!

If you’re not eating here… something is wrong! This place is absolutely amazing. Very family oriented. Veteran owned. Natalie is an amazing waiter and manager. Her mom is so sweet! Her dad cooked absolutely delicious meals. Very clean. You feel welcomed instantly. Sitting outside was also a great experience!
