I love getting my hair cut and colored by Fryda! She is very attentive to your hair wants (goals) but also provides honest feedback if things are or are not doable in any given session. The integrity of her clients hair is her main priority, which we all can appreciate!

Such a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. Katie is amazing at color and extensions! My extensions look so natural and blend seamlessly with my real hair.

Fryda is now my go-to hair stylist. She was attentive to my wants in long layers, and she also gave advice on the shape and how to work the style with my hair type. What I really appreciated is that she didn't rush, but made sure to check and do any little touch ups even after blow dry styling. Fryda is the best! I moved from NY about a year ago and discovered Fryda through social media. What I love is that she actually listens to what you are looking for and is honest about what the process will be to get to this and what the damage might be. Fryda always gives the healthiest options for coloring hair to get exactly what you are looking for which as someone who was blonde really appreciates. Fryda is extremely talented and never disappoints. I have gone to her for my blonde as well as natural root color.

Olxandra from The Upper Hand Salon at Hyde Park changed my life forever. Not only have I received top-of-the-line, prime-time, first-class haircuts and hair treatments from her, but I’ve also been blessed with her eyebrow architectural skills. If schools gave out PhDs for taking squirrel like eyebrows and turning them into elegant hair sculptures, then Olxandra would be a tenured professor in this business. If you have a singular particle of hair on your body, I recommend you come to The Upper Hand Salon at Hyde Park and ask Olxandra to do something to it. All jokes aside, Olxandra really knows what she’s doing: she bout that life. I feel like setting up a hair appointment with her doubles as therapy too - she’s a great listener, communicator, and the wisdom drips off of her to the point that you leave the salon with newfound knowledge and understanding. This woman has been appointed by God Almighty to do anything and everything beauty, if you don’t believe me go ahead and see for yourself.

I absolutely love my stylist America at the Upper Hand. She does an amazing job with my hair. I like changing colors often and she is always able to achieve what I wanted. Her advice has always been helpful and helps to keep my hair healthy and looking beautiful.

HIGHLY recommend requesting for Elle if you're wanting to spruce up your look. She's so talented at what she does that you'll be in awe and smiling coming out of the salon. I came to Elle wanting to change up my solid black hair look to something that was more vibrant and refreshing, in the consultation, she went over several different things: the balayage process, what to expect, feedback on different hair ideas, any questions I had at the time. For my balayage, I couldn't be more happy with it, and I can't stop starting at BEAUTIFUL my hair looks! We went more with the neutral brown tone for my olive skin. Exactly what I wanted. It had been a few months since I had gotten my hair “done” with color. I came to Shelby desperate because the last time I had it done (elsewhere) it was horrible- my hair got completely damaged and dried and the color tone did not work out. So I came to Shelby and she was a Miracle worker! She got my hair back shiny, smooth and such a great color for me! She was also super friendly and so easy to connect with!
