The Utility Company of Austin reviews
20Most horrible service ever! They are rude and refuse to admit that they make mistakes. They always blame it on the customer, like its in their training to do so.they just took double my payment and told me it's my fault. I never made 2 payments. Why would I in a time like this. Our business has been closed for 2 months making no money. A HEARTLESS, HORRIBLE AND corrupt business! During times like this, we are suppose to come together. This company is the worst! I'd give -500 * if I could
The company just recently accidently charged me well over my bill amount. They told me that they would refund me straight to my account, but they were very misleading with which account those funds would go to. Now my bank account is overdrawn, and I have to wait several business days to receive a check because of their faults? The company made a mistake and they're making me, their customer, pay for it. This was the worst customer service experience I have ever been a part of. Is this really the best the city can do?
@ Kathlynn Todd, you're in the wrong line again. LOL
But seriously the folks here are nice even when the line has obviously been long all day. I won't come here if I don't have to though.
This is absolutely ridiculous, Ive overpayed multiple times and had a credit of hundreds of dollars due to their incompetent online/phone services. In order to prevent overpaying hundreds the rep guided me through autopay. Not once once i informed that if i miss payments twice i would not be able to use online services completely for 12 months. So of course after i sign up they start charging me 2-3 days before i get payed. I asked for my bills to be on the 3rd of every month. Now since their FIRM policy is 2 strikes youre done, i am forced to either adjust my 8-5 schedule and pay at their location (7: 45am-4: 30pm M-F) OR do money orders and pay their fees for even doing it. I wouldve thought that if they looked at my track record and saw my over excellent online payments, and saw the discord of miscommunication, they would help a loyal customer out. This is coporate greed, monopoly.so upset.
Just got chewed out by one of the female employees, for apparently being in the wrong line to ask a question about why the postman didn’t leave a parcel locker key in my mailbox. I’ve never had even a decent experience here, yet I continue to go back because of how close it is to my house. From here on out, I will avoid coming to this place when it requires human interaction, and I would advise others to do the same. This place is filthy, the self service machine is broken 99% of the time, and the line always is 10-20 people long. If you want people to know to stand in a certain line, don’t put the sign that says to do so on the ground. RUDE. Also, USPS, try not to hire people that take their anger out on customers who use your shipping every week, multiple times a week.
COA uses customers money to host ACL, SXSW, Trail of light by hiking electricity rates in hot summer months. Total BS, need to allow other providers to put these crooks out of business. COA monopoly is hurting avg residents in Austin.
NEVER sign up for budget billing. What they don't tell you is that if you stop the program you will have to pay all of the money back that you "saved. " It also costs $200 to enroll in AutoPay? I wish there was another utility company to choose from.
Seriously BS. They cut off my power without notice. Pretty sure this company is run by the Mafia and there's senators involved. How is it legal to only have one power company in a large city?
Guys it's called a monopoly there are no other companies for you to get your electric in Austin
They are not understanding. RUDE.and over charge for a return fee.even though we paid it before deadline.if I could give ZERO STARS I would.
They are absolutely hot trash. They are worse then a cell phone provider. They charge you for everything under the sun even to pay your bill online so your giving them an extra 3.49 to pay them! 200$ deposit for nothing they have done absolutely nothing and want 200 bucks. Corporate greed written all over this place know wonder everyone before me said you suck. Sucking money from people with out ever coming up with a reason for it.
Horrible changed for 2 tons of water I never used, turned off services still billing me 10 months later
Don't trust the bills, customer service reliability, or this only provider for the city of austin.worse company.
I've lived in 4 major cities in the US. None required a predatory $200 deposit in addition to instillation fees. They said I Can waive the $200 fee with a letter of credit, which none of my previous utility companies could provide, or had even heard of.
A pdf document that simultaneously expresses my past payment history- but not a ledger or payment history- a written explanation that I've paid- on official letterhead from the utility institution. No utility company I spoke with was even able to pass this information to a department that would even be able to issue all these strict demands. When I called, the supervisor gave me that same, tired "Austin does it different" excuse.it isn't the 90s anymore and it isnt charming.
They are absolutely crooks! Won't change your bill due date. Won't give back deposit even though you have paid on the first and the due date was the 28th. Monoply scammers hate COA utilities, WISH I could use Perdanles
The online platform is painful at best. Mistakes were made on my account (by the City) which placed me on a cash only payment basis for a year.
Horrible. Got water bill of $1100 when the bill was $60 the month before. When I call, they only want to talk about making payment arrangements instead of trying to solve the issue of why a damn water bill is over 1K in a month for 2 people living in a small home. And for the people posting positive reviews of this monopoly, I had absolutely no problems with COA water for 20 years.until now.
Something crooked is going on with this utility.
Sounds to me like folks are projecting their own inability to pay a bill onto the COA. I've lived here over 20 years and haven't ever had an issue with customer service, cost or reliability. Sorry you folks don't like the utility company here. Give Round Rock a try!
If I could put no stars I would! Transformers constantly blowing 3 and 4 times a week but yet they won't upgrade them. The number of homes has doubled on our street but the transformer is the same and no new ones have been added. Putting a bandaid on it isn't fixing the problem! We need a permanent fix.
And this people is your city on big government, big monopoly. This is one of the many examples of why we don't need Communism in America, so I hope y'all Austinites understand!
