I cannot say how terribly disappointed I am with my experiences with Thompson, Salinas, Lodergran, LLP, and specifically with attorney Marshall A. Thompson. I first met Marshall in 2018 when seeking help for a family law matter. I instantly liked Marshall and truly felt he would be a good choice to represent me in this case. I was horribly wrong.

When I was finally able to hire Marshall A. Thompson in 2021, the problems began as soon as I paid my 5K retainer. The communication went downhill almost immediately. Mr. Thompson showed up disorganized and unprepared, and my trust started to waver.

The crux of the issue began when Marshall made promises to me which-it is my belief -he had no intention of keeping, as a strategy to get me to agree to give up certain legal rights. Shortly thereafter, it is my belief, that when Marshall Thompson discovered that I was not going to be the financial gravy train he was hoping for, he quickly stopped responding to my emails, ignored my text messages, and actively avoided taking my phone calls.

It is my understanding that this is regular behavior for Mr. Thompson and this firm-actively avoiding and evading phone calls and communications from their clients when they have become too annoying or difficult for them to bother with.

It was my experience that Mr. Thompson also failed to notify me of actions filed against me on the case, failed to provide me with a copy of my case file upon request, failed to provide me with copies of my billing statements upon request, passed on hearings without my consent, filed documents into the case in opposition to my direct request to do otherwise, took over four months to file a Temporary Oder with the Court, failed to notify me that said Order had been filed, refused to tell me the date it had been filed or if it had been filed at all when asked.

In a nutshell my experience was that Marshall A. Thompson was disorganized, dishonest, unprepared and negligent. My legal position, financial, mental and emotional well-being suffered as a result. Overall what should have been a rather simple matter was turned into an absolute circus.

It was also my experience that Mr. Thompson's paralegals and legal assistants are completely dis-empowered to act or be of any assistance whatsoever. Even for simple questions such as "What date was the motion filed? " or "Has the order been drafted yet? " or "May I please see a copy of my billing documents"-my paralegal could not do a thing without first passing the info along to Marshall. The response was always "I'll pass that along to Marshall and have him get back to you". This of course never happened-Marshall never got back to me.

During my time with this law firm I also witnessed a lot of turnover in the staff. There always seemed to be a new person answering the phones or a new paralegal in training. It seems this firm has a difficult time retaining help and probably for good cause.

Despite my attempts to remedy these issues with Mr. Thompson directly, Mr. Thompson continued to evade and avoid responsibility and instead tried to lay the blame on me. I know that "crazy clients" do exist and they are a thing, but I am not one of them. What Mr. Thompson should understand is that ignoring a client, avoiding phone calls and communications, and otherwise acting negligently on their case tends to cause a client unnecessary injury and upset-far worse than if he just had the integrity and respect to address the issue head on.

If he had done this, and made a genuine effort to remedy the issues, I might not be here writing this today. I also would not have had to resort to filing several BAR grievances against him.

I hope this review helps keep others from going through a similar experience. Perhaps it will also serve to inspire Marshall A Thompson to step back into integrity in his profession and start taking some responsibility. It is exactly this kind of harm that causes injury to the public and generates public distrust in the justice system.

Marshall and Courtney walked me through one of the most difficult experiences of my life. They did so with grace and as a steady, consistent and reliable resource throughout my lengthy and highly complex divorce. I couldn’t have done it without them and I wouldn’t have wanted to.
