Thousand Oaks Family YMCA reviews
17Friendly staff, clean facilities, fantastic array of exercise equipment, pickleball & tennis courts, tons of exercise class options.
Closed random days, people occupying all courts, very crowded since new years, very limited hours for some reason
Great accessibility and friendly staff! Highly recommend this location as a good work out spot.
For my monthly dues there is so much offered! Tennis, pickleball, free weights, multiple class to sign up for, sauna, steam-room, child care, open family gym time, family volleyball and so much more.
Everything was smooth, the customer service over the phone and the customer service in person. Looking forward to being a part of the YMCA Fam!
The best Y in San Antonio, TX, its fully equipped steam & sauna reminds me of the YMCA in the Midwest. The remainder YMCAs in San Antonio is pretty much a mom/pa gym, no steam/sauna, racquetball, tennis and no lateral ellipticals.
Nice gym to workout in and has good facilities.
Pool area is great and has a hot tub. The hot tub is only open when the pool area is open, which is around April/May to September. What I don't understand is why wouldn't the hot tub be open during the winter when it actually makes sense to sit in one? No one wants to sit in a hot tub in 100° weather.
Wonder how a non profit can kick people out of the gym and hold church service…. So dissatisfied and disappointed not being able to use the facility. Don’t go to this location before calling.
EDIT: three weeks later things are still broken. Response didn’t address how -no notice was given the gym would close-
Bad enough the gym closed down for a month with no notice, but now that it’s open half the equipment is busted. Many machines out of order. Padding on equipment is cracked and disgusting. Little kids unsupervised on gym equipment.
This is a great place to go and get back in shape and not feel like you're being judged. This place has a great work out area showers, swimming pool, tennis court, s, Basketball courts all inside.
The YMCA along with the Alamo City Racquetball Association hosted a well-run Regional racquetball tournament this past weekend. Facilities were clean and well-managed.
Today I came fir ap swimming and again the kids that had swim lessons took one while lane up. And then I could not lay out in the sun, they said that these children are from the community and they don't have to pay anything to come here. So I had three people in one lap lane and then it was time to get out. The young girl came to me and said I had to get out very rudely I asked where the executive director was and she said we ate looking for him. I said in return that I hope you find him before I do.then she ran over and told her fellow employees what I said. I worked at the YMCA when I was a lifeguard at the age of 15 and taught swimming lessons and did not ever take 4 of us to teach a child to swim. Staff are rude the manaIger is even ruder, I was looking for a nice place to work out and this is not it. Pool is dirty and they said it would get cleaned but, I guess that was a lie as well.my name is Patsy Mcglocklin
This gym will close for 3 weeks, Charge for that month and then delay reopening for another 2 weeks and still charge customers! Sure they have 2 gyms 25 minutes away both ways that you can use if you want to use that gas and time.but the issue is they had a reopen date and missed it and on that same reopen date updated their website and announced they would be closed for another 2 weeks.they'll just close their doors for any amount of time and not even give a notice, not one email nothing! They did send an email asking for donations.this gym would be better if it wasn't run by the ymca staff
The club was shut down for remodeling, but the members were never informed. Nor did the Y let members know that they could visit other Y locations as an alternative. The website isn't up to date since the construction is extended through May 9th.
Over a month ago I signed my kid up for the summer daycare/camp that the YMCA offers. This process took about 30 minutes, I left thinking my kids were enrolled for summer camp, I am a working single mother and this was very important to me that I set this up. On good Friday (month later) I went to make a payment on my account to pay for the whole summer and found out that I was never enrolled. This really hurt my feelings seeing how the person who told me I was enrolled is one of my favorite people at the Y. After talking to multiple people that work for the Y we figured some what of a solution. Unfortunately, this was mess and as a loyal consistent member this should have never of happened.
Well appointed health club and moderately priced. Offers many aerobic and weight machines along with plenty of free weights. Also has numerous ball courts, i.e. Basketball, racquetball, an tennis. Swimming pool is open all summer long. Low on sanitation stations though, and often runs low on sanitary wipes. Not very well supervised and managers are rarely seen. Attendants on duty seem to always be behind the front desk and rarely walk the premises. When you report anything to them such as low supplies (paper towels, sanitation items) they'll give you lip service and say they'll get on it, but nothing gets done. High time also that they went back to a full pre-pandemic schedule.
THE FACILITY is always clean. There are plenty of machines available and the monthly fee is reasonable.
