Johnny and his team are incredible! My spouse and I visited for the first time this week and did the VIP ranch tour. Highly recommend! We fed carrots to over 300 friendly horses and donkeys (from mini to mammoth)! They let you kiss their snouts and want more and more kisses. Too precious. It was an magnificent experience and we learned their stories and how they’ve flourished since being rescued. Most have horrifically sad histories and many were rescued from kill pens, which is a very tragic ending for the ones that don’t get saved. However, the ones that were rescued are thriving in Johnny’s care and they absolutely adore him (and he them). This was truly a magical adventure and we learned so much from Johnny. You can also walk a donkey. If you’d like to help this rescue, they have wish list on Chewy and could use the supplies and/or donations. There are a lot of big mouths to feed. Volunteer orientation is the first Saturday in January, if anyone is interested. Keep up the amazing work, Johnny, Kayla, Lisa, Bill, and Bill. You are an inspiration. I had volunteered for a year as of today. I started there as just doing the once a month donkey walk. I actually just should have kept doing that. I was doing it for my anxiety and depression. I met a donkey named Benny.he is a therapy donkey. He helped me a lot when I would come and walk him. Then on a walk a nice volunteer who was working that day told me she wanted me to tell walk a big donkey. That is when I met Big Marge. She is a lovable and caring blind donkey. I had become very attached her. She has a calming sense to her that my day was better and my anxiety was at a good stage. It was getting better each time that I ended up sponsoring her for 25.00 a month. The time and experience started getting even better once I had a mentor that took time out and take me around the ranch so I could see the other animals and teach me some techniques of training. When my mentor was let go things started to change. I noticed more. I noticed there are things that could be a lot better when it comes to the animals and staffing. But as I said I was mostly there for the love of the animals and I received that from a few that I will worry about and always love.

I was able to also do my tour with Dawn, who was very knowledgeable in her job. She was very caring, and you could tell she really wanted the best for the donkeys. But she was shortly fired after our tour, and everything went South. The owner Johnny would not communicate with me anymore regarding my pending adoption. Their staff pretend to be knowledgeable, but they are really not. They could fool a person who doesn’t know much about equine, but not someone who has had horses for 15 years. They pretend to have this board of directors, this adoption specialist, a manager, etc…, and they are all worthless. No one will communicate with you. They don’t give you explanations, it’s all a mess. Their communication skills are zero. I decided not to adopt from them anymore. They have rules, but don’t follow them. They don’t provide the necessary space, by their own standards and regulations, for each donkey. They have no idea of what good nutrition is. One of the girls told me that donkeys ate trees, just because the bark is sweet to them. Well, the reality is that donkeys eat trees out of malnutrition, lack of minerals and vitamins, and out of boredom. They told me they required 1 acre of land per donkey, no matter if it’s a full size or a mini. But they have them all cramped up in their facility. I don’t know, the whole place and the employees did not give me a good vibe. I feel really sorry for all the animals there. It’s almost like they lure you in, get you excited about your pick, and then tell you that you have to adopt something else. Very tricky and deceiving people. But think about it, who charges $100 for you to go see donkeys up for adoption? Pretty ludicrous businesses, right? I didn’t mind paying it because I was certain that I would adopt from them. I was very serious about it. But they were not. They just played me as much as they wanted. My sincere recommendation is to adopt from somewhere else. At least these donkeys are safe where they are, and that’s what matters. There are many others in auction that need to be rescued. It’s too bad this didn’t work out. I was really excited about it. And at the end of the day, they lost so much more than me. I was willing to spend over $2000 on three mini donkeys, who would’ve been spoiled to death, and would’ve had a great life. I had already offered to do volunteer work, etc…. But now all of that is gone. So heads up about this place.

My family and I went to TRM Rescue for the 1st Saturday of the Month Donkey Walk and it was so much fun! We got to walk a sweet donkey named April. The team at TMR Rescue pairs you with a donkey and a team member. They give you a bucket of carrots and you walk your donkey along a beautiful path past lakes and by other donkeys. You learn about donkeys, the Rescue center and enjoy the fresh air! Our daughter is 10 and she enjoyed the visit. She was hesitant to feed the donkey but our guide was informative and calm and before the end of the walk our daughter was having a blast!

I highly recommend visiting TRM Rescue! We will be back!

Adopted a Mule from TMR the end of May 2023. Went on a tour of the ranch first and got up close and personal with the kids up for adoption.
Dawn was amazing as a tour guide and was beyond helpful with the whole process. A true joy!
Ranch is well kept as are the animals living there. Very pretty place!

This place is amazing. We went to see all the donkeys and ended up picking one out, or should I say.she picked us. Loved the tour. Everyone is very friendly and they have a great passion to save donkeys. Really fun family adventure.
