TownePlace Suites by Marriott San Antonio Downtown reviews
18 Great customer service from the beginning at valet.
Front desk was amazing. All 3 shifts was on top of it. Got an amazing view for the weekend! 5/5. Will be back every time I’m in San Antonio.
Good location. The hallways are very warm and muggy. Shower drain broken and it took two requests to get it fixed.
When we arrived, there were no luggage carts available and had to lug out bags up to the room. As soon as we walked into the room, there is a damp smell that is just bad. The sir vent is disgusting and full of dust and dirt. The TV remote didn't work properly. The door to the shower didn't close so water gets all over the bathroom floor. We had a king sized bed and there were 2 standard sized pillows and 2 throw pillows with covers on them.really, a king sized bed?
We won't be back.
Room was comfy (apart from a small enclosure with toilet and shower without an extractor fan for steam). Face sink was conveniently outside the bathroom and so accessible to the family while others used the shower/toilet. There were two Texas style closets which were roomy and had modern organizing bins. We had a suite so a cook top with pots, pans, dishwasher, cabinets, and sufficient utensils for cooking and eating. Downside was very expensive daily parking rate available only by valet. Other public lots within a block we're accessible however. It was in a walkable area to the convention center (7mins) and the Alamo (5mins) other hotels and food (3-7mins depending on your palette). Uber was always nearby if you didn't want to walk etc
The hotel and staff are amazing. Overall a great place to stay. Tons of food within 1/2 mile. River walk is super close as well.
The only downside is the area it’s in. It was difficult to navigate to, with small streets and lots of traffic lights (which makes sense, because it is in the heart of downtown). Parking is non-existent, so expect to pay for a lot nearby or use the valet option (4 stars overall because of this). But 5 stars for “walk-a-bility. ”
Arionna at the front desk was so delightful. We arrived after a stressful day of travel and her cheery customer service was a the refreshing shot of joy we needed after dealing with airport people. The hotel room was clean and secure and perfect for our small family. Definitely will stay again!
Nice rooms. Valet parking only. In downtown San Antonio. Walking distance to the riverwalk and Almo.
Called twice on 7/16 to simply ask about the distance to the river walk and whoever the girl is at the front desk was not helpful and both times that I called, stated “hold please” and placed the call on hold before I could respond. Because of this, I spent my money with a competitor. Y’all should teach your front desk folks to at least allow potential customers to respond before placing them on hold. Answering that Woodson would’ve only taken 45 seconds to answer; but business was lost due to poor customer service.
I've stayed here before and always enjoyed my stay. This time was different. The door to my room stuck, necessitating the use of a shoulder block to get it open. The mattress needed replacing as there was a large bow in the center. Only one elevator worked. Only one of the two "business center" computers connected to the Internet and the printer failed to work due to a lack of toner. Also, the warming pans used in the breakfast area kept nothing warm. It felt like this hotel suffered from a lack of care and attention.
My husband and I just checked in today and already are on our second room change. The first room had a horrible smell but we later found out that the ac was recently fixed and they need to clean the musty carpet. The second room ac wasn’t working and the outside temp was 106° with the room temp at 78° and the thermostat set at 73°. It was a good room but the hallway was cooler than our room even after adjusting the thermostat to 64° and leaving the room giving it time to cool off. We are now in our third room. It is slightly cooler but missing a mirror that our second room had…not a dealbreaker. With all that said, the customer service here is exceptional! The location is great! Fingers crossed that our first night is comfortable!
The only parking you're going to get is valet and it will cost you $35 per day plus tax comes to $42 a day. No room service at all. The rooms are excellent, nicely updated and clean. The breakfast was good as well, eggs, sausage and potatoes, toast, cereal, waffles, coffee. I would prefer parking, but oh well.
It was awesome. Miles was particularly great, he always had our car ready when we needed it.
Absolute wonderful experience and stay here! Wanted to really thank Michael at the front desk for his kindness and professionalism. I would definitely recommend this suite to others. If you're looking for friendly staff and a great location, look not further!
My issue with this Marriott was the "complimentary" breakfast - we all know this is included in the cost of the room because nothing is free. The items available were so meager that I felt both embarrassed and insulted. There was a very nice young man managing the breakfast room who had to keep apologizing for no syrup or butter for the waffles, no fruit, no plant-based milk, no bagels that weren't already made with sausage. When I mentioned this to the desk agent upon checkout, she became very nervous and said I could call her Assistant Manager on Friday and handed me his business card. I guess this was a put-off, but I definitely will be calling.
Stay was excellent, rooms were very nice and well kept, staff was amazing and very helpful all the way from our valet miles to the front desk assistant Desiree! They did a great job at making sure Our stay was perfect and enjoyable. Overall when in the San Antonio area this hotel is our first choice and we will be back.
Miles, the valet attendant, was great! Really nice guy and very professional. Car was always ready on time and always told us to have a nice day! Miles was hands down the nicest valet attendant I’ve done business with. Thank you miles!
We stayed at this property during Easter weekend, we were disappointed with the service as being a Marriott property our expectation was much higher. Coffee was cold every time we got it even during breakfast, although the hotel promised breakfast (the price was higher than most properties because they were offering breakfast) however, there was nothing except pancakes. Not even butter for the toast.no oats, no cereal, no fruits, no milk. When I asked one staff member, she replied coldly that they are out of most things. We are never staying there again.pathetic.very disappointed.
Great location on Houston Street, real close to Riverwalk, real close to the Alamo. Staff was excellent, offering their favorites (not just the tourist traps).
