Tricky Fish reviews
18I asked my baby girl who is now approaching her mid 40s. Where do you want to have your birthday diner at. She chose Tricky Fish. We had the calamari appetizer. Then the fish and chips main coarse. Everything was cooked to perfection. The portions were large. We neither one had room for dessert. The waiter asked if we needed anything else. My answer was a wake call in 45 minutes.
Been ordering a lot from this since stumbling upon them a couple of months ago. Has become my new favorite and reminds me of being back home in Chicago. Seasoned to perfection with generous portions. And the whole staff has always been amazing.
UPDATE they asked me to email them two months ago and I never heard back from them. Still waiting for feedback my review still stands. They also got my review removed from yelp.
Unprofessional "GM". We've just moved to the area, disabled retired marine family, had only been here about a couple times. The only thing we liked were the shrimp tacos and you can virtually get that anywhere. Upon arrival there was no one hosting and checking people in. We were then greeted by a middle aged "man" after a couple minutes of waiting in the middle of the restaurant. He never told us there was a wait. Mind you there were several open tables cleaned that was clearly visible. We had our three month old son with us and we just wanted to sit inside where it was cool. We asked if we could just sit at one of the many open tables and wait and he then told us "let me let my kitchen catch back up, and I'll get back to you". We politely pointed out that doesn't make any sense. Then he changed his story and proceeded to tell us "there's a several people ahead of you". Which if there was a waitlist that's all he had to say. Clearly he was not made "GM" by critical thinking or communication skills. We took his lack of knowledge as means to go to our local favorite The Rim. When we left we were chased by the "GM" as he was still trying to gain our business. We told him politely to leave us alone and kept walking. He still was yelling from the door trying to get inside, then understandably we were upset because if we were not made a priority in the first place, why was it that when we left the script changed yet again? We made our distain verbally clear for him to leave us alone telling him to eat it, then in a business classy fashion and yelled "you too". Told us that we were not welcome back, to our surprise we gladly agreed that we can get the same thing elsewhere without being chastised, harassed, discriminated, and disrespected. To end this, we had positive experiences prior to being introduced to the man child GM. Your money/time are better served elsewhere.
Absolutely delicious and great atmosphere. I have been here multiple times and never had a bad experience.
Worst management ever, don't waste your time going here, way better places with better customer service, manager was very condescending. I did not want a refund, I just wanted to know what I had done wrong on a previous order as I did not receive all my items listed. After a long day at work all wanted was a meal to go not an argument. I hate confrontation of any kind. I should have kept ordering with flying fish on Montgomery, anytime they have messed up my order in the past they have taken accountability without a fight and this creates a reassurance whenever you order here. I understand we are humans and prone to making mistakes, but also part of being a good person is accepting our mistakes. Tricky fish needs to provide leadership training for it's managers so this manager can stop unnecessarily escalating conversation with customers. So unprofessional and sad.
OMG! We love Tricky Fish! Desirè is awesome! We come here at least twice a month!
Food is great and consistent. Service is solid.
The music is AMAZING! Where can I get this playlist? I am obsessed! I can’t Shazam ALL the songs!
Please share!
Thanks for a great place!
First time here and the food was very good. Came out hot and fresh. Service was good (p.s. Love the beard Levi!) the okra is AMAZING!
My first time here, and the fried green tomatoes were great, but the Thai wings were not so great (tasteless). The cocktail was very good as well.
The service and atmosphere is ok, but the food is downright unacceptable! DO NOT order the catfish unless you like Swai. They substitute a cheaper swai fish and try to pass it off as catfish. Horrible experience. I spoke with the manager and he acted like it's no big deal. He gave me the impression that this is normal and it's not, it's FALSE ADVERTISING. First and last time eating here. NEVER AGAIN!
If you are on the clock, pressed for time, call ahead, for your order, it took over 30 minutes, to receive our order! The fish was delicious, although, they give different portions! The food, was hot, and fresh. Unable to eat there, we had to ask for to go containers.
Only downside was sitting right by the door. The food/service was EXCELLENT. Will definitely go again.
This was our 1st time here. We had an enjoyable time. The food was very good. We will definitely come back.
Everything was perfectly seasoned and served piping hot. Gotta love the signature Tricky Fish with blackened reddish.
Love Tricky Fish! The appetizer of the fried green tomatoes with the shrimp on top, delicious. I do love the crab cakes. Not the best I’ve ever had, but still have reordered them. Not much seafood in Fort Worth or what there is is super expensive. Tricky Fish is the perfect balance! We love it and will continue to return for more! Staff has always been friendly too:)
Food was great! Wish I would have been given the option of flour or corn tortillas on fish tacos. Plain white rice could use some salt and pepper for a bit of seasoning. Our waiter was excellent!
Great food, great service while we waited. (Kitchen was slammed, therefore very slow.) Atmosphere light, trendy.
The fried green tomatoes and calamari appetizers were delicious. Light and crispy.
I ordered from their brunch menu: shrimp, oysters, and grits. So good! I had them put the BBQ sauce on the side and ended up not even needing it. Oh, and a sunny side up egg on top!
I'll be back on a less crowded day to try other menu items, too.
This place is amazing! Celebrated my husband's birthday dinner here. The waiter was great. Brad the manager was really helpful. Food was So Good! Thank you Tricky Fish for making our evening great!
We enjoyed every aspect of our dinning experience, the food was flavorful, the atmosphere was perfect, we will be back!
