Tru by Hilton Amarillo West reviews
18We decided to book last minute and expecting to have a good rest. Room given to us was an extention to another room and can hear the noise and cry early morning. Linens stinks and started to itch. I asked my husband to get a new linens and change last minute. Sanitize your rooms!
Came here when traveling to and from Arizona and I have no complaints whatsoever. Chad checked us in and was super friendly, professional, and helpful! Breakfast was tasty, and I liked the small market they have with snacks and toiletries. I will definitely stay here if I travel through here, no doubt. Great hotel.
Hotel was conveniently located near stores and restaurants. Great staff and clean hotel. Beds are comfortable. Plan to stay again if in Amarillo.
Lovely, convenient hotel in the west side of Amarillo Texas. With its encouraging messages at the front door and in the lobby, the Tru hotel is very hospitable.
Probably one of the best stays I had in Texas.
When you walk in the lobby it’s got around check-in center which is cute and after the left-hand side is a coffee cart with some tea and hot water and Lavazza, coffee and decaf and regular. I saw some people playing pool having a good time and there was a little bar sitting place where you could play games and plug in your phone. If you’re starving, you could have a cuppa noodles for two dollars or a Campbell’s tomato soup for four dollars etc.there’s a little microwave I’m sure there was some other foods, but I wasn’t quite hungry. In the morning, there’s a breakfast bar with cereal, pancakes that you can make by yourself, oatmeal, eggs, and sausage, as well as some different types of breads and bagels, cream, cheese, and yogurt with special toppings, like Oreo or pecans and whip cream. I liked the color scheme does it textures and curves and even the elevators were nice and clean. The beds were fresh. The heating elements worked perfect. We had a shower and I wish we had a bathtub. I’m not sure if there was even an option for that. But usually I like to just soak and not have to stand all the time. Shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and lotion all smelled delightful and my hair was really nice and soft. I wish we had brought toothbrushes and toothpaste. I don’t know where they were in the car but I didn’t brush my teeth and I forgot to ask so I’m not sure if they actually provide that or not or deodorant would’ve been nice lol I forgot that too. There were plenty of towels and washcloths and make up remover’s face cloths. And a hairdryer. Some toilet paper and Kleenex. There was a small TV that we watched, and I like the shades that come down over the windows made it pretty dark.
The beds were super comfortable. I always bring my own pillow with the pillows were probably pretty good, I always bring my own blanket, and it’s a good thing because my kids stole the blanket. There was a refrigerator, but I unplugged it because it was making too much noise. I had to bring my own USB charger, which is fine. There’s some soundproof booth down in the lobby I liked and some fun chairs to sit in. Definitely kid friendly and I also saw two or three dogs. I paid $174 for two double beds. It was supposed to be 130 so I’m not sure what happened there but, he became a Hilton member and I’m not sure that I actually got my points either. Hopefully I get my $25 back from the deposit.
Loved everything about our stay a few weeks ago. The attendant working was so courteous and helpful. Wish I remembered his name.
Cute rooms in an accessible location for a variety of food and entertainment options with a wonderfully friendly and accommodating staff.
The hotel was clean and perfect for our overnight stay. The staff was very friendly. Hotel is located in a very convenient area. The also offer complimentary breakfast with your stay. Breakfast was not bad at all. We would absolutely stay there again.
First, the staff was wonderful. Friendly and attentive. The hotel was clean, as was the well sized pet area. I appreciated the door next to the ground floor elevator that allowed me to get my pup out quickly for a 2: 30 AM near emergency.
The bath linens were clean and fresh. There was a good selection of foods available for purchase, and the lobby coffee was tasty and plentiful. Breakfast was your ordinary selection, with powered eggs and frozen sausage. No biscuits and gravy were offered, something I found sorly lacking considering this was in Texas.
I did not care for the layout of the lobby for bringing my dog in. The lobby had been taken over by 2-3 families of 2 to 8 year olds that were as inconsiderate as their parents who let them run wild and without supervision. Unfortunately, the lobby layout required us, and other guests, to walk through that crowd to get to the elevators. I'm sure the staff wasn't happy either, but to their credit, they did not show it.
While the elevators, hallways were clean, the room was tiny, perhaps not larger than a cruise ship cabin.
The room lacked useable counter space. The room counter was about 14" deep, and half if ut was taken up by a 50" TV. There was no where to place your sutcases, except an "optional"storage space under the bed. No closets, but three "decorative" hangers.
The shower was approximately 3'x4' and supplied with a low quality body lotion that was almost impossible to rinse off. I initially thought that soft water was the cause, but the soap I brought from home rinsed iff completly. There was no soap dish in the shower, nor was there a handle to close the door. The hand soap bottle on the sink was empty.
And finally, the hotel seemed to have only 2 luggage carts. Not even close to enough for a large, 4 story hotel.
Great hotel and great service. It is right by Interstate 40 and the location is close to many restaurants and shops. The Tru hotels always deliver with great service and cleanliness. Thank you and keep up the great work.
First of all - Blake is delightful, truly a wonderful customer service representative. Super attentive from the moment i walked in with my service dog until the moment i went to my room for the night.i had to leave this review because people like Blake are so crucial to the mission and they make the experience special. If i needed anything, Blake was there to assist before i could even ask for help.
This was my first time in Amarillo and my first time staying at a Tru hotel. The hotel was great, best breakfast of all the Hiltons that i stayed in that week. So clean, warm and cozy. There's also plenty of space around the property to entertain fur babies.
I can't say enough about our experience with Tru. We stayed there on 8/26/23 and again on 9/1/2023. The evening check in representative (Blake or Blane) was awesome-professional, courteous, and patient while helping us correct our reservations. The rooms were simple and very clean. Had a refrigerator in the room also. The hot breakfast in the morning was pretty darn good, scramble eggs, sausage patties, hot cakes, variety of breads, fruits, and coffee. We met the manager the morning we left -she models the same hospitality that I witnessed from the check-in clerk, the housekeeping staff, and the breakfast attendants. I will return to this Tru hotel and Tru will be my 1st choice whenever we need to spend a night some where.
The rooms are clean and nice looking.
The hotel is close to a cattle farm so the smell of cow manure came throughout the night. The bed was AWFUL. It felt like cardboard on concrete.
Stayed a few months ago on a road trip, I had my dog with me and had no issues. Very safe, friendly and helpful staff, and very clean.
Clean and friendly! Stayed here twice! Both great stops before leaving to Colorado and coming back to Texas.
The room and building is incredibly clean and modern, the staff is super friendly and most importantly they allow cats. Gilligan McBean was very happy about this, as am I. We will be staying here in the future when we travel through. Shout out to Blake at the front desk!
I like these types of hotels, but this one lacks a plus compared to other similar ones from the same chain. My room had crumbs and a piece of a bag of something on the floor (they offered to clean it without a problem, but this is done beforehand)
Even with this, I like the dynamics of these hotels, modern, colorful, without so much carpet. In the lobby billiards and board games. Complimentary coffee. And a great gym. I miss daily cleaning and pool.
The staff are amazing! Lacey went out of her way to help me with a pillow issue and remembers my name and room number all week. Blake took excellent care of me as well and was so friendly. The hotel is virtually brand new and very well maintained. The rooms are dorm style with a minimalist design. They are comfortable and well appointed though. The mod design of the entire property is fun and refreshing compared to other hotels. The only thing I would have liked was a microwave in the room, but I made do with the one in the lobby. Otherwise, not a single complaint!
