IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ. Do not use this animal hospital. The ladies at the front desk are amazing but this hospital does not train their vet techs well. We started to bring our dog here about a year ago. Our dog loves all the veterinarians here. Our first several visits went splendidly. Our dog received his vaccinations, had his nails trimmed and has had blood work done without any hiccups. My most recent two visits we have had new vet techs and they have not been able to handle my 28 lb dog. The dog is not aggressive, just squirmy. All of the vet techs prior to these new techs were able to handle my dog. These new vet techs cannot handle a 28 lb medium sized dog. This last visit I was not able to attend because of work, so my girlfriend had to take our dog. They took complete advantage of me not being there. My girlfriend booked a rabies vaccination only. They convinced her that the dog needed to be sedated twice and that the dog needed medications on top of the sedation. They also convinced her that he needed several tests run that WERE NOT MEDICALLY NECESSARY to receiving the rabies vaccination. They took complete advantage of my girlfriend. My girlfriend has a visual disability but it also affects her cognitive faculty. Utterly revolting to take advantage of a disabled person. Truly disappointing the way true companion uses dirty business tactics to prey on their customers that are concerned for their fur children. The rabies shot, that should have cost the value of the medication and payment for the veterinarian assistant ended up being over $500 with all the extra tests, medications and two types of sedation. All for a rabies vaccination that the vet tech could NOT handle so they sedated our dog and took advantage of my girlfriend. Disgusting way to run a business. We will no longer be taking our dog to this facility. Do not let them take advantage of you. Update - spoke to true companion and they confirmed their divisive business tactics. True companion confirmed that none of the tests or medications were absolutely necessary for my dog to receive the rabies vaccination. True companion agreed to let us return the forced unnecessary medications that the dog DOES NOT NEED. True companion did take the time to hear me out but the trust has already been broken. True companion agreed they would implement more tech training. Now, is too little too late. When dealing with loved ones (pets) you have to be able to trust the people that care for your animal. Unfortunately true companion has decided to break this bond with it's community it serves. Please don't take your animal here.

We absolutely love Dr. Mira Rogers and her staff at True Companion. Everyone who works there seems happy to be there and they love your pets like their own. The office is beautiful. Our little guy gets nervous sometimes and drools. But never at this office. He walks in and out wagging his tail at every visit. We highly recommend them.

We have entrusted our fur babies to True Companion Animal Hospital since we moved to Houston 10 years ago. They have shared our excitement when we’ve brought new pets in and they have been such compassionate friends when we’ve had to say our last goodbyes. We wouldn’t trust our fur babies to anyone else!

I’ve had a great experience with True Companion every time I’ve brought in my kitty. Recently, we came in requiring emergency surgery to remove a foreign body blocking his intestine. Dr. Pedroza was thankfully able to get us in that day and he is now on his way to recovery. The staff is always so kind and helpful and I appreciate the care they give my precious kitty!

It's impossible to get anyone to answer the phone. You probably have to walk-in for best results. The treatment was fair on the occasions I did go here, but I've decided to go to another clinic with hopes of better accessibility.

We have used the vets at True Companion Animal Hospital to care for our dogs for several years. The vets and staff are professional, friendly, and courteous. They take the time to explain what is going on. What I really like is that I believe they care about our pets and us as a “pet family”.

We moved here in 2013 and needed a vet, we have an elderly wiener dog and a couple cats. All the vets are very nice and thorough. They got us in promptly and remembered our pets names. We are very happy with our choice. We have been back for annual physicals and really appreciate that they treat our pets as if they were their own and make recommendations using that lens.

I have been going to True Companion with 3 separate pets for around 10 years who had all lived a long life and had great care. Unfortunately I won’t be going back. We recently got a puppy and based on my experiences, I felt that True Companion was the best place to take her. Her first visit, the vet tech automatically started clipping her toenails, clipping one too short, causing her to yelp and bleed. No big deal at first, things happen. The rest of her first visit was uneventful, other than heavy pushing of their puppy food of choice. Next visit was a tech visit for her boosters (DHPP and Bordatella), went fine, no issues. Next visit was another check up with the DVM, 3 shots as well, and other than being told she was a little overweight and not approving of the puppy food we’re feeding her, all was good.

But her most recent visit is why I will never go back. My wife took her to get her last set of shots. In the exam room, the vet tech said that she was “wiggly” and was going to take her in the back. My wife had no issue. However, as it turns out while in the back, they had to restrain her and muzzle her. Then Dr. Brasel finally comes in the exam room and tells my wife that she is aggressive and bit one of the techs and notes in her records that she has White Coat Syndrome and that she is not friendly and demonstrates signs of aggression and diagnoses her with a behavior problem. Then provides my wife with the card of dog trainer they push for a consultation of her aggressive behavior.

So here is my issue. My puppy is 3 months old and weighs 22 pounds. She had been to True Companion 4 times without issue. In public, around other animals, and in her puppy training class she has never displayed aggressiveness. She was removed from her owner (because she was “wiggly”), restrained, and muzzled. At no point was my wife notified what was happening, or that there was an issue. At no point did the vet tech or Dr. Brasel take a step back, inform my wife what was happening, and come up with a way to handle the situation without making it worse. I am extremely concerned and dissatisfied with how she was handled in the back and would not recommend you allow them to do that with your dog. Clearly, they do not know how to handle an animal, and they have the lack of awareness to provide my wife with the name of a puppy trainer, put her on the defensive, and make it seem like it’s her fault? It’s not acceptable.

I have no doubt that my dog now has “white coat syndrome” and anxiety issues at the vet thanks to the way she was treated at True Companion. Luckily it will be at a different vet where they have the knowledge and capability to care for her.

Have been going to True Companion for 7+ years. Each and every Dr AND staff are thorough, compassionate and attentive. Dr Rogers especially went above and beyond when we had an unusual and scary health scare with one of our dogs.
