Had a wonderful experience at Uchi tonight, they were able to accommodate a last min time change to our reservation which was much appreciated.

The service was impeccable, John & Karen were both very knowledgeable in the menu and able to provide some delicious suggestions.
We went with the Omakase, I would highly suggest this, you will not be disappointed. Everything was fresh and tasted out of this world.

Highly recommend for a nice night out with friends or for a date night. 10+/10

Amazing dinner but even better service. Our waiter Alex took great care of us…. He went out of the way to make the visit one to remember!

I can't remember the last time I had an upset stomach because it has been years, if not a decade. I ate at Uchi last night and had an upset stomach for most of the night.

The staff was very friendly, but beyond slow.
Uchi sat us down 20 minutes after our reservation, and our first order didn't arrive for another 25 minutes. We ended up being there for three hours. We really were considering asking them to cancel our final orders because we weren't certain whether we wanted to commit the 15+ minutes it would take to bring us our order.

The atmosphere was pleasant, but the red wallpaper was tacky, and we joked that the servers were not elegant and looked like they might have just come straight from their shift at Denny's.

Much of the food was very good, but not exceptional, and not matching the price. My favorite was the fois gras because it's so seldomly available, and it was delicious.

Phenomenal. To be candid, this meal ruined me. I will not be able to enjoy sushi again for some time. The journey my palate was taken on was a ride like no other. Only the Uchi in Houston can compare in my mind. The staff were accommodating and added special items for a birthday in our party. I can’t wait till I can return.

My one complaint is that we requested no red meat be included and that it be replaced with a fish alternative and they still brought out a wagyu beef dish at the end of the chef’s tasting.

I have been waiting to go here for a long time as I've had trouble getting reservations. Unfortunately I was very underwhelmed because there are amazing sushi places in Austin and this one was far from it. The food was disappointingly average, the wait for food was long, and the place was very loud, making me wish I had gotten outdoor seating. I would recommend going to Tomo in north Austin for much much better food.

Happy Hour is a must. Expect $100 pp. Ask your server for recommendations some items aren’t great. Desert is totally worth it, super creative options. We enjoyed that it’s a rotating menu and the sampling different items, tapas style. Main server was unfriendly, expected a 20% tip despite poor service, but other team members were kind and friendly! Get the ice cream, hot rock and any sushi!

If you're looking for an unforgettable culinary adventure that tantalizes your taste buds and transports you to a realm of exquisite flavors, look no further than Uchi. This gem of a restaurant is an absolute masterpiece that combines the finest ingredients with impeccable execution, resulting in a dining experience that will leave you speechless.

Upon entering Uchi, you are greeted by an ambiance that effortlessly balances contemporary elegance with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The dimmed lighting and minimalist decor create an intimate setting, perfect for a special date night or a celebration with loved ones.

The highlight of the evening, of course, is the innovative and delectable menu. Each dish at Uchi is a work of art, meticulously crafted by the talented chefs to elevate your palate to new heights. As a sushi lover, I was blown away by the sheer creativity and freshness of the sashimi platter. The fusion of flavors and delicate textures danced on my tongue, leaving me craving for more with each bite.

One standout dish that lingers in my memory is the "Machi Cure, " a mouthwatering smoked yellowtail. The velvety fish, expertly combined with yucca crisps and marcona almonds, delivered an explosion of smoky and nutty notes that left me in awe of the chef's skillful balance of flavors.

The impeccable service at Uchi deserves a special mention as well. The waitstaff was attentive, knowledgeable, and ready to offer recommendations based on our preferences. They guided us through the menu with enthusiasm, making the entire dining experience all the more enjoyable.

For dessert, the "Valrhona Chocolate Marquise" was an indulgent finale to an already memorable meal. The rich and velvety chocolate paired harmoniously with the tanginess of passionfruit, resulting in a dessert that was nothing short of divine.

Edit: I'm still waiting for a manager to contact me as promised about my food poisoning. Lost work, currently getting an IV infusion for dehydration as I type this. The original lady who promised me I'd get a call within a day or two sounded concerned, confirmed my reservation and mentioned I would het refund.

Manager called me back. Said that he doubted I had food poisoning from them (even though it was all I had in a 10hr time span, I flew to Austin just to go to this place). Manager explained to me that food poisoning shows up about 16 hours after ingestion of contaminated food (which is completely incorrect). A couple IVs of fluid later and missed work and a horrible flight home, I explained the situation to 3 different people and was asked to email, I just gave up trying to get a refund thay I was previously promised. I didn't have the time, nor energy to reiterate everyone over and over again, spent way too much time on this and cut my losses. The two women I spoke to were at least pleasant and apologetic. David, on the other hand, was condescending. As a nurse and being very well in tune with my own personal body and health, I didn't appreciate someone either calling me dishonest or assuming I'm incapable of understanding how food poisoning works. This is the thing. I flew out at 5am and ended up in Austin at 6pm. I only had water and my protein shake (which ive had many times without getting sick, was from home and mixed in a freshly opened Fiji bottle). My friend I went to eat with picked me up at 9pm to head to food. We hadn't even seen each other for much time (to rule out any virus/flu). We ate and then about 2am I was puking, he was puking about 3am. It was suggested I had a hangover, which I do not drink alcohol. This place was the only thing I consumed in Austin all day. We both got sick. I can't even believe I'm defending myself on this.

Everything was amazing. Only complaint was air conditioning was blasting so hard I was freeing the entire time (ordered hot tea to help)

The food was amazing. The plating and presentation, the careful procurement of flavor profiles etc. I was so happy with this entire meal. I wanted to try everything on the menu!

Probably the best Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. Every dish was delicious and the cocktails were amazing too.

My wife and I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary at Uchi. Our server's name was Garrett and we allowed him to choose every course that we ate. It was an incredible experience.

Uchi isn’t what I expected it to be. I’ve had dinner here several times in the last coupes of months I can’t say I will be going back. The new omakase offerings in town are far more creative and generous than Uchi at the moment. I hope Uchi can step up their game to keep up with the new guys in town. I would hate to lose yet another Austin staple…

We were really excited to go to Uchi and unfortunately our experience did not live up to the hype with the food.

Starting with the good - the edamame was great. For the not so good news. Avoid the pork belly - it was chewy. The sushi rolls had way too much sauce. The crudo was okay and the tempura felt like uncooked batter.

The food took a lot of time to come out. Each dish had almost 20 mins between them and it was kinda frustrating because we were hungry. Ended up spending a little over 2 hours at the restaurant and an additional 30 mins at the bar.

Uchi is a unique dining experience. My group ordered the chef's special and added a couple additional items. This translated to fourteen dishes that the staff rolled out at a comfortable rate. I especially appreciated the wagyu beef variants.

We had a really great experience with my girlfriend as two vegetarians enjoying their tasting menu. Their dishes were creative that you can have eggplant or avocado nigiri on top having innovative salads. Flavors are balanced well and not overly sauced. The service and atmosphere is easygoing. Would definitely recommend.
