UT Tower, Austin TX

It's marvelous architecture at the heart of the Austin city.always considered to visit here in any weather but spring is best

Attended our oldest child's "Class Ring Ceremony " and had a great time. It's a pretty awesome building and there is a lot going on on that campus. Pretty darn tall.

The area looks good. You can see capitol from the front stairway as well the UT tower which is nice.

Besides having a great history here in Austin and center around that tower and the capital building those 2 buildings alone Kind of define old Austin. It also has a dark history. A 25 year old engineering student (And a former marine), by the name of Charles Whitman. On August 1st, 1966 went up to the observation Deck of the tower and opened fire.he shot and killed 16 people including an unborn child, and injured 31 others Over a span of 96 minutes. This was after he shot his wife and mother that morning.the death toll though at the time was set at 16 it then became 17 when one of the people who had been shot that tragic morning met there fate anyways die to medical complications from the injury they received that morning. On another note they set up alot of live events in the quad below the tower all the time. Like Wiz Khalifa who played there at the tower Just the other day.

Still nearly impossible to find parking at or near UT campus buildings for visitors. Parking at capitol complex and bus into visit Tower and other feature is still best option.

I'm a true crime geek so seeing the UT clock tower was a very somber event. I also checked out the turtle pond and the memorial to the victims. It's sad to realize that the world hasn't really changed much.

Was walking around UT campus at night. Passed by UT tower, I got interested in its history.

I'm here at the University Of Texas, where my granddaughter ; daughter of my daughter, just recieved her 2022 college graduation class ring #. Am so very proud of my granddaughter #.

To whom the bell tolls, what a sight to behold. Standing infront of the tower gives you a perfect sight line of the all too precious Texas State Capital. A true Texas icon and memory of a painful scar.

Down the stairs are a particular set of spheres that when lined up, provide you with a cheeky view of the tower and art installation. Investigate and find it yourself!
