Van Horn RV Park reviews
18Good place for an overnight stop with full hook ups for RVs. The dog park and around the camping area was full of stickers, so we walked our dog on the dirt roads around our site.
For an RV park it was ok. I must say someone needs to do something about the sticker plants EVERWHERE. My dog could not even go potty without getting into them every time. Then I got them trying to get them off of the dog!
This place was a great place for an overnight stop while we were traveling from CA to TX. The owner was amazing and went out of her way to help us when we were having some issues with our camper. Good little dog parks, open spacious areas, not cramped in on top of each other, backed away from the highway so you can get some quality sleep.
Very quiet despite being right off the interstate. Stickers are really thick so guard pet paws We only stayed overnight so don't know what activities they have but it did have a rustic western appeal.
The person on phone was very nice in making reservations. They need to update the description of place online. It doesn't match what was posted, Started setting up, no cable, attacked by mosquitoes, bites everywhere. Not staying, very disappointed, canceled. Left!
We stayed here about 5 years ago and we remembered it to be nice, so we stayed here again last night.
Van Horn is in the middle of the desert, with El Paso being 1 1/2 hours away. Very desert.
We travel with our kids and generally need a spot for a night. All we ask from an rv park is for easy in and easy out from freeway and for sites, pull throughs, clean bathrooms, laundry site just incase we need them, a clean park, decent level grounds, and pool or play ground for our kids are a plus. This RV park had it all. It has aged a little, and yes, some remodeling will be nice, but when that happens, the price will go up. The prices now are low compared to others. I would rather have a clean park with low prices than a resort with higher prices for just one night.
Summer time is their slow time. I can only imagine their revenue during this time is hard.
My kids enjoyed the pool, nice and clean. My dogs enjoyed their walk and came back sticker free. Although I did see some, you can tell they try to maintain their lots.
The owner was very friendly and engaging. I have no issues staying here.
ANTS. We got put in a slot with a large, well-established anthill that did not appreciate our arrival. No one reachable after hours. Smallest pool I've ever seen, but it looked fairly clean. However, the pool is unlit (even though it's open until ten) so we didn't get to use it.
You couldn’t even open up your RV door without thousands of mosquitoes swarming you. That is not normal. We couldn’t even go outside. Our families cabin was not cleaned or ready for them 2 hours after check-in.
No mosquitoes when we left the campground I don’t understand what they are doing to attract so many you cannot actually camp. Would never stay again.
Great little spot. The pool was clean and refreshing after a long day of driving in the heat. Host was very friendly.
This RV park was a great overnight stay, good price, we were there in the summer which is their off season so not many people around, good size pull through spaces. The only thing was the lady in the office didn’t seam like she was all that happy to be working there and the whole office smelled like cigarette smoke.
There is a cafe onsite for breakfast and lunch but it is closed in the off season!
We travel with 2 horses & have found this spot a great place for layover. Wood &horse wire pens large enough for horses to be together & have room to stretch their legs.
Full hook ups for RV's. There's also a tent area & rustic cabins.
The restrooms are clean & air conditioned. There is a clean swim pool & the grounds also have a large pond which is pleasant on on walk.
Easy pull through hookups! Electric, water and sewer service. Showers on site as well as laundry services. Friendly host!
We just stayed overnight and arrived late. Easy to get in and large site for our big rig. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
It is a pleasant, quiet area to stay. The grounds are clean and pet friendly. Near to several areas to explore.
Nice relaxing campgrounds. The management opened the pool for us when no one else was there. Very accommodating.
Overnight stop. Needed to hookup and refresh. Place is serviceable but had seen better days. Office staff was friendly. All sites are pull through. Our site had a faulty sewer hookup, no threading in the drain pipe so had to improvise with a large bolder to secure fit. I'm sure they would have moved me, but didn't feel like moving at that point. If your driving across west Texas and need a place to hookup, this will do.
Stayed one night and had to disconnect our motorhome from their 50amp pedestal. Our Hughes Watch Dog Surge Protector cut power twice from having below 104 volt readings. Wife called the office after the first instance, and the owners daughter answered saying that surge protectors don't work at the park.
Very nice staff offered us a coffee on arrival, there are a few sites that have a tree to offer some shade. Bathrooms are clean. Laundry room always open. Far enough from the highway not to hear the traffic, they even have a corral for your horses!
