Asian Restaurant Van's reviews
14This is a timeless family restaurant. If you love family dynamics and great food, I strongly recommend this lovely establishment.
This place was just on the news for trading shark fins, which is illegal in TX. If you eat here, you give support to the shark finning practice perpetrated primarily by the Chinese who have been depleting the entire world's fish stock. I hope the authority fines them out of business.
CLOSED—looks like permanently. They can’t be courteous enough to update this on the Google search. It has the prior opening times. On top of that, they have a bright neon sign that says open. How ridiculous is that. I don’t understand what their problem is. They obviously don’t care about any customers.
Eat here at your own risk. The place is filthy. I was sick for 2 days after a horrible meal. The health department should shut this place down. If ZERO stars were an option, that's what would have given.
Just saw this place was busted in a shark fin sting. Disgusting! I hope you go out of business and soon!
Saw on ksat 12 this place was illegally using shark fins to make soup. Not some place I would recommend
“When they cut off the fins, the shark is still alive, and then only 1 to 5 percent of the shark even gets used, ” Vice President for U. S. Oceans at Oceana Jacqueline Savitz said after Abbott signed the bill. “The bodies of the shark are then thrown back into the ocean, only to drown, starve or die a slow death. ”
NEVER give money to this place.
This restaurant is involved in the illegal trade, possession and sale of shark fin. Do not eat here under any circumstance.
Restaurants that serve shark fin soup that are decimating the shark population in the Gulf should be shut down for good!
The restaurant sources it's food illegally. Don't eat there. There's no telling where it comes from.
So sad that this place would mess with sharks. I remember going here once the food was disgusting. Plus they had a petty parking war with the restaurant next door.
Been coming here since before they moved to this location almost 28 years ago. Haven't looked at a menu in almost all those years. Hien can cook anything you want and he will if if he has it, all you have to do is ask. Wine variety and prices combined make it the most affordable and best selection in the city. They were closed for much of the pandemic except for reservations for dinner in the last several months. He is talking about opening for lunch again sometime soon, provided he can find some help in the kitchen that is dependable. Currently he does all the cooking himself.
You walk in and given a menu. The waitress tells you there is a $5.00 price increase on all the food. The portions are not worth a $5.00 price increase. The springs rolls are not as good as advertised. For good spring rolls, Taste of Asia or Kim Pho Long. The prices are way better than this place and better food. Or just go to an Asian Market by some frozen and fry them yourself
They use shark fins in their soup, good job Game Wardens for finding this & putting a stop to it. I hope they get what they deserve.
