VCA Arbor Animal Hospital, Austin TX

We would like to thank the excellent staff at VCA Arbor Animal Hospital for the care our Dachshund Gibbs received recently! Dr. Ortiz went above and beyond to determine the diagnosis for his unique illness, and the treatment plan has been excellent! Thanks also to the entire staff who always greeted us with a smile and made sure Gibbs was comfortable and unafraid!

Dr. Ortiz and her team I’ve been our Vet for over 15 years. Our dogs, Harley, Charlie, Grayson, Bailey, Lucy are our children and Dr Ortiz and the team notice and give them the love and attention they deserve. Throughout the years, they have taken care of our children better than most people take care of their human children. Dr. Ortiz is extremely knowledgeable, very patient, compassionate, and understanding as we walk through every lifecycle of our children’s life. From helping us through the puppy stage with, dealing with cancer with Grayson, Bailey’s itchy problems at two years old, to Harley, and Charlie, and all their stages of their senior life hood. She has been there at every turn, and I cannot say how much I respect and appreciate everything she has done for entire family. They make us feel like part of the family, and everyone on the team is compassionate and helps take care of them to the fullest of their capabilities. I would strongly encourage anybody has any fur babies to see them. I did not have enough adjectives to explain how amazing the entire team at VCA Arbor animal is I drive 35+ minutes to see them just to make sure our fur babies get the best absolute care.

The website schedule tool is terrible, so I dropped a star. Otherwise, great staff and location. Super pleased that the small intake/exam room smelled better this time.

Great people & great service. We had a big scare this last week with our dog. Despite not being an existing patient, they made time to see us in the first thing in the morning. Dr. Ortiz & her team spent a lot of time with our pup to check on her, diagnose, and offer recommendations. Big thank you to the team at VCA Arbor.

Really hate this place. We had been going to ZippiVet prior to the pandemic due to the weekend availability. When ZippiVet changed their hours and eliminated weekend scheduling, my wife and I took the time to check out other vets in the limited amount of time we both had. It seemed like a good fit and we were ecstatic to find a vet with weekend hours and great reviews.

Fast forward two or so months, and one of our dogs has not had his standard flea treatment in almost a month due to constantly being denied, and he is also Very close to running out of his medically necessary medication he is prescribed for life due to a chronic internal injury.

Our dog already had his blood work done by Balcones VCA animal hospital (I believe in June) and the files necessary should be available to prescribe the medication and flea treatment. What makes this so difficult? Besides trying to switch to VCA, nothing has ever changed with his medical care for the past four years.

Out of desperation, we went back to ZippiVet to try to get his medication prescribed, but because the blood work and other tests were done at VCA, they needed the results sent so the prescriptions could be released. We notified VCA of this, and still NOTHING has been done, and ZippiVet still does not have the files necessary to process the prescription.

What is going on here? Can we not just switch vets due to availability/scheduling issues without upending everything we have worked for to streamline our sick dogs care? I would give zero stars if I could.

Marcus and the rest of the front desk staff will take great care of you, whether on the phone or in person. They are always friendly, professional, competent and thorough, and fun with my fur babies and my human toddler. They don't leave anything overlooked, and they are fast to send records, answer the phone, and check you out after appts.

Stormy and the rest of the techs are so thoughtful and friendly.

All of the doctors are great!

The waiting room has tons of toys and books for kids, and Stormy even got my toddler some crayons and a coloring sheet while we were waiting. Really glad we started bringing our fur babies here!

Always taken my dogs to this location, staff is always amazing and very welcoming even though my dog is very big and rowdy at times.

I went here for the first time for my new puppy and everyone was very friendly and sweet! They answered every question and concern I had and when doing my puppy's exam they were very gentle as well as loving, giving him treats and showering him with love! The customer service is AMAZING and the goody bag they give out is a nice touch! There was nothing I didn't like! I will definitely recommend to other people!

Many thanks to hospital team which helped us in our emergency situation. They accepted us without appointment as it was urgent case. We did need to return to our home country on family emergency and VCA hospital helped us to give health certificate and make rabies vaccine. As a result we could return to my home country. They’ve been my vet for 13 years. I have lived all over Austin and no matter how far I always go to them. They are truly the best.

I love this place everyone is so friendly and helpful! My dog needs allergy medication filled once a month. They are so efficient and will call me or text me when it’s available. The doctors and staff are so knowledgeable and friendly towards my pets. I drive 30 minutes to go here even though I have a location 2 minutes down there road!

We've been going to VCA Arbor Clinic on Balcones Wood and it's the best vet clinic we've ever been to. We'd had serious issues with incorrect medications being prescribed at other vets or they never placed importance on our pets'diets. Before VCA, we'd tried three different vets and had issues at all three. However, Dr. Ortiz at VCA has cared for our cats and dog and is amazing with both. She keeps our cats calm and relaxed and clearly explains any medical issues and possible avenues for treatment. She is also very good at communicating via email. Recently, she wanted to do some research in regards to changing our cat's food due to a medical issue. She followed up with a very thorough and well researched email to explain the best options. Their Care Club payment plan is very economical but treatment is affordable without it as well. I can't say enough about the wonderful care and communication we've received at VCA.

I wish I could remember the name of the technician that helped my girlfriend and I with our cat Luna at our last visit. She was an absolute riot and a pleasure to experience! She did a really good job at attempting to wrangle a very upset cat. We have been to this facility three times now and I've always had a good experience, would definitely recommend!

We called to ask if we could bring our dog in to be weighed and they refused saying we were not clients. To let us weigh him would have cost nothing. It has now cost them a new client. Our Bernese Mountain dog is trained to stand on a scale. It would have been an easy way for us to introduce him to a new Vet. You have lost a new client.
