Velvet Taco reviews
13As chains go, Velvet taco is pretty great. I would place right there with Torchy's in the category. This location had a nice staff, was clean, and both visits provided accurate and fast orders.
Decent tacos. I’ve had better, but for the quality, price and accessibility downtown these are pretty good.
I frequently order from this location and never have any issues. Tonight, they delivered the items incorrectly, and the food cold. I called them to report the issue, and then the manager in charge (a woman) was extremely rude. She insulted me, refused to provide me with her name, and when I informed her thar I would write a review.she laughed, said she didn't care, and insulted me. I doubt any establishment would like to have team members who don't care about their quality and customer service. Especially if she is a manager!
Racist and homophobic…
We were discriminated after one of us got a lemonade on a water cup then paid for a $3.00 cup after which we were asked to leaved. Other people had non water beverage on water cup without no issues. Shame on you.
Racist because we were not given the chance to explain why 3 brown boys got one lemonade one a water cup. Homophobic we are proud of who we are!
The only good thing about this place was the security person who was willing to hear our side.
You can’t go wrong with anything on this menu… make sure you try the Tika tacos as they are the best…. Quick friendly service and clean spot to eat.
In the heart of downtown Austin, this taco spot stands out for its impressive vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. While there are no explicit vegan menu items, most veggie tacos can be made vegan except the Paneer taco. We loved all of them! We also tried their Elote Guac and it was unique and delicious. However, the restaurant lacked table cleanliness, requiring self-service before dining. Otherwise a 5-star experience
I can't say I was expecting much coming from a city that does not have good late night options but my GF and I were blown away by these tasty tacos! Between the two of us we had the beer-battered cauliflower taco, the fried paneer taco, and the Nashville hot tofu taco. All the tacos were delicious and creative. I have not had any tacos like that before! Then we ended with the chimichurri queso which was also delicious and some how still piping hot when delivered. Great start to our Austin trip!
The menu, an attempt to cater to palates unaccustomed to authentic Mexican flavors, unfortunately, strayed a bit too far from tradition for my liking. The tacos, while presented with flair, lacked the depth of flavor and soul that one would expect from a namesake establishment. It seemed as if the kitchen was trying to please too many, losing its identity in the process.
The ‘hit or miss’ nature of the offerings was apparent. A couple of items did stand out, suggesting potential, but the overall execution was underwhelming, leading to a mere 2-star rating for taste. I found the tacos to be a tad bland, perhaps toned down.
The decor, a fusion of vibrant colors and modern twists on traditional motifs, offered a warm welcome. However, the culinary journey was not as consistent as the visual experience.
First time here food was good and amazing customer service will definitely recommend to others
Inhaled the brisket taco ~ best taco of my liFe! YuMmm! Enjoying the Paloma with house tequila and Jarritos grapefruit soda.
The tacos are excellent and really creative, there are ample vegetarian options and a good selection of drinks. Add in great atmosphere and location and you got yourself a keeper!
Best tacos I’ve had in a long time! The different from around the world really set this place apart.
