Vic and Al's reviews
19This was the perfect place to eat between two downtown Austin events. The service was great. The food was served quickly and tasted great. The interior isn't huge but the place of the service keeps the tables turning.
Food was very good. Even the side salad was spicy. Very friendly & helpful service. Food arrived quicker than expected. Drinks were very good.
Vic and Al's team, you never disappoint. Thank you for good vibes, thoughtful preparation, and delicious food. I've had nearly every dish on the menu and it always hits the spot. My friends and family always have rave reviews about their experience after their visit. Keep up the great work!
Wow! What a cute place! Staff was great and food was amazing! We ordered & shared Shrimp Creole (that days special), Cochon De Lait Poboy, Gumbo and a hurricane. The shrimp was flavorful but OMG the Poboy was out of this world good! Hubby loved the gumbo. Hurricane was only $7 on HH (3pm-6pm M-F)
It was so refreshing to eat here in a city saturated with overhyped and overpriced restaurants. I found this place when googling where to eat near me. We had the fried crawfish poboy, the pulled pork poboy, the red beans and rice and the gumbo and everything was excellent. The attention was great and the drinks were too (I had the corn old fashioned). They have beignets too! Can't wait to be back.
This place makes me wish I wasn't just visiting from out of town. The food is incredible. I tried the ribs, beet salad, potato salad, and bread pudding and loved all of it. I am looking forward to coming back.
One the favorites in Austin. Always a good time, ordering can feel a bit awkward since it feels like you should sit down but once you get familiar you prefer it.
The fried chicken on rice is so amazing. The sauce is a bit spicy but not too much. The chicken is very crispy and juicy.
Had the Cochon de Lait Po-Boy and it was drool worthy. Loved the pickled onions and sauce on top. Drinks were excellent. Not quite authentic Cajun in my opinion, but delicious nonetheless. Would definitely return. Word of caution, parking at peak hours is difficult to come by.
Best hidden gem in Austin! Hard to spot from the road, but man, if you end up finding it… you’re in for a treat! Great food, reasonable prices, great atmosphere.
We got the Poboy, fried chicken and rice, a side salad and a gumbo. All perfect. I could just have had a big bowl of gumbo and I’d been perfectly satisfied. Good service. Good drinks
As a visitor from another state, I gotta say this place is incredible. Come here. No hesitation. Fantastic food, insanely good cocktails, and if you're a music dork like me you'll enjoy the tunes too. I heard The Clash and N*ked Raygun within moments of each other. That has never happened anywhere. I got the special Jambalaya and it was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. No joke.
Edit: Went back a second night in a row. Katherine took care of us and the experience was just as incredible the second time.
Hands down the BEST gumbo I've ever had. Idk how they get it so flavorful but it is phenomenal. The blackened catfish on greens was also very good
Great food. Came back 2 days in a row because it’s so good. Katherine is awesome, super helpful and great suggestions.
This place has a very dope atmosphere, There service is stellar, my server Jordan was very upbeat and hilarious! I got the fried chicken over salad and sweet tea! Ahhhmazing! Everything about this place is authentic to their establishment. As a person who grew up here they fit right in and vibe with the Austin aesthetic!
In town for the F1 race, and we had such a good experience we came back twice. Katherine was amazing every time, and so was the food. I can’t recommend this place enough! Stop in if you get the chance, you won’t be disappointed.
Catherine was amazing - we were first-timers and she guided us through the menu and process with ease. She made it more than dinner, she made it an experience. Fun crew, fun menu - delicious food. We couldn’t ask for more!
Pretty good, but not super consistent. I’ve been three times now and the food is pretty good, but overpriced considering the portions. Last time I went, I was pretty disappointed since my half of my dish was cold. Other than that, the atmosphere is nice and drinks are decent!
