Food was amazing. Servings are gigantic. Hot chicken sandwich was tasty but pretty messy due to the size. Can’t wait to come back and try some of the staples.

Went to Viola and Agnes’ for lunch today. When they say the portions are “generous” it’s like giving a $1,000 tip on a. 40 cup of coffee generous. When they say the staff is super friendly and nice it’s like playing with a basket full of golden retrievers puppies friendly and nice. When they say the food is flavorful, this place could jump start taste buds that died from Covid. Now about the beef with the wait for food. Ours was fifteen minutes. 15. One five. Not the stuff in reviews or remotely close. And the place was packed. To say it’s awesome is insulting. It’s brilliantly delicious! Suggest you just go ahead and get the to go box when you pay because you’ll need it.

Everything was delicious. Had the shrimp and grits and seafood pasta. The pretzel with crab and shrimp dip was a meal in itself and soooo yummy. We’re from Louisiana and this place is great!

We waited for 1 hour for our foods. We came in at 7: 20pm. We only ordered 2 entrees and a bowl of gumbo. They put a sign that says everything is made to order, but wow 1 hour for 2 entrees. Ridiculous
The gumbo was really good, but my chicken in chicken and waffles was tasteless

I always enjoy the Gumbo. Today is a cold day in SE TX so Viola & Agnes was the first place I thought of for a bowl of Gumbo. We called the order in and came to pick up on a Sunday! Can't wait to get home and dive in. Get you some!

There are some good restaurants in this world but there are not that many that are really really great. This one is! Had the Sticky Chicken with red beans and rice and coleslaw.

I had to go back a day later and try the shrimp, grits and garlic bread dish. It was out of sight and dynomite! The folks working here are very friendly as well.

Wait time is ridiculous. It’s a scratch kitchen, ok - however it should not take more than an hour to make a Cup of soup (knowing it’s prepared in a pot already) and a fancy grilled cheese. We had to wait 10-15 min just to order since you have to wait for other parties to decide what they want before you can order your food, even if you already know what you want. So many parties ordered, ate and left that came in after us-made zero sense and we just were a party of 3! At the 45 minute mark I had to ask for order status. To which I was told it would be another 10-15 minutes and average ticket was 30-45 minutes. It had already been 45 minutes! 5 minutes after I asked for order status, my husband got his meal which was average at best. Another 15 minutes later, I had to again ask for order status on mine and my daughters food. So my husband ate and finished his meal before we even got ours. The collard greens were so salty it was crazy and the tomato basil soup and crab/crawfish fancy grilled cheese that took forever & a day to get, was not that great-super salty soup and sandwich was cold. Clearly our plates had been sitting in the back for a bit because the cheese was waxy and cold. The lady with the long hair, assuming the owner or manager, seemed to have attitude and did not a portray a welcoming persona at all, not a fan. Atmosphere was rather gross, dirty sticky floors, counter, table and chairs are all beat up and it looked like water rot on parts of the walls and floors. Not sure what decor is supposed be happening but its hodge podge, mix match at best, very lacking on cleanliness, atmosphere, staff and hospitality. As a girl from Deep South Alabama and having lived in Mississippi and Louisiana in the past I can tell you this food is nothing to write home about. Definitely DO NOT recommend and will not be back. Total waste of time and $100!

Very suprised and satisfying.
A well put together menu and daily chalk board menu items outside of the regular menu.
Very authentic creol from the western part of Louisiana. The cup of gumbo is a meal with chicken leg, half crab, sausage and lager shrimp.
The shrimp and grits are unique and filling.
Everything is mostly scratch made and comes with a little more of a wait, but well worth it.

Some of the best cajun food I've ever had. Had the sausage and bacon stew and it was fantastic. If you like good homestyle cajun food you gotta come here

I love to eat here. Portions are huge and the food is amazing! We are always treated nicely and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. There is a menu, but they write the specials for the day on the chalkboard. I haven't tried a dish there that I haven't liked!

Catfish was yummy but the greens and black eyed peas were bland and lacked seasoning.

The shrimp and grits were my favorite!

As always I always look for a hidden gem.
This place didn't disappoint, although the menu was limited, the portions are huge and delicious.
I ordered the fried catfish with collared greens and red beans with rice.
A delightful seasoned crunchy breading surrounds a fresh, clean tasting, flakey catfish filet that was absolutely palate pleasing.
A homemade remoulade sauce accompanied the fried goodness to add an extra tastiness.
The redbeans and rice had a great home cooked taste, obviously an original recipe.
The collared greens were cooked to a perfect consistency and well seasoned.
Overall a great meal with a full togo box.
So if you travel in the Nassau Bay area bring your appetite and give this place a try.
