Summer camp full of awful kids whose parents enable them and counselors and staff who are too inept to stop them. Only when you defend yourself will they gaslight you about how your kids are the problem. These parents are either ghetto or rich white families who think they own the place.

The Y is amazing from it’s programs, to the staff who produce them, and the folks who participate! Great friends experience engaging programs with amazing results!

The vestibule is large and welcoming, staff friendly and helpful. There are a variety of programs to satisfy most needs. The equipment is in good working condition most of the time. I discovered and learned to play Pickle Ball here. I hear it is the latest craze.

The Weekley YMCA is a travesty of elder abuse and wickedness. It is an abomination to the community. The staff and management should visit the local hospitals filled with people dying from cancer and heart disease from not exercising. Maybe they would take their mission more seriously.
Welcome the guests and facilitate a good work out instead of playing pranks on them like a juvenile delinquent. Shame on the directors, hiring managers and anyone who doesn't respect themselves and those who donated to found the organization enough to do good work. Leave your hatred in the parking lot.

I have been a member of the Weekley Family YMCA for over ten years. The environment is family friendly, the workout classes and equipment are top notch, and I highly recommend it.

Older feeling YMCA but fine IMO. I do the Farm Share Veggie pickup “Plant it Forward” program here. You subscribe, pay a weekly fee and they leave veggies on the porch in the back. They are really fresh. You bring a bag and pick them up out of a cooler. I haven’t cooked with some of these vegetables before. I like the challenge:)

4 star review just cause it’s an older y, and the steam room kinda smells

The daycare room is big and spacious for kids

Camp Cullen was great for my son and he enjoyed it so much so although I heard unpleasant things, We signed him up for the day camp here. Itwas the worst summer camp ever. Disorganized like a jungle.kids are all over the place.and counselors are mean. They punished my son and didnt let him go to pool and didnt give him a bandaid when he needed one. This is unacceptable and he is just 10.

I just signed up and started doing the fitness classes. I love the HIIT class. Ulysses does a great job of working you out! Then the nightclub cardio class is awesome! I can’t wait to try the other classes.

Open letter to Weekly YMCA

On 7/7/22 my car was stolen from the weekly YMCA parking lot. I had arrived at the gym at around 5.05pm, (it was pouring with rain) I checked in with my key card which was attached to the car key. I placed my gym bag on the coat hanger, with my jacket and car key in it. I continued with my workout, when I returned I noticed that someone had tampered with my bag and my jacket was missing. I reported it to staff immediately, on realizing my car keys were also missing, I went outside to check for my car Infiniti Fx35 plate LXY 1604 missing at the parking lot on the right side as you enter the ymca building main entrance next to the handicap spot. I called and waited for the hpd constable who came after almost an hour, I recorded my incident report, and got my case report number, since that day my car is still missing, ymca has not released any video evidence to me or police.

Furthermore, the YMCA has done nothing to notify members that a thief had entered the building, there has been no effort to increase security. Yes, perhaps I should have been more wise by putting my key in the lockboxes, but I left my bag were it was with the false surety that the ymca checks all people who enter to go use their facility. I understand they cannot release the video footage but they are able to screenshot the image and notify people. The responsibility of putting my key in a safe spot, is my responsibility. Keeping people and their belongings safe, and monitoring who does or does not enter the facility with or without a membership is their responsibility. If they didn’t check in then how did they get upstairs, and why can’t they look at their own video imaging? And if they did check in then why aren’t they helping me locate this person?

In the last four years I have faithfully invested $6480, into an organization that offers community and promises to support its members as a family. I believed in this cause, yet I have been deeply disappointed at the lack of care. I have not received any help in any attempt to locate my car. We are a single car family, it is the same car that I take my wife to work with and drop my kids at school. It is a car that I have faithfully paid off and had no debt on. We are having to recover this in the midst of inflation rising, while juggling job and three kids.

Weekley YMCA, you advertise that this organization 'strengthens communities, changes lives and inspires action in your community” but I have yet to experience this.

Yours truly,

Steve.

Pathetic experience.

Currently my son is enrolled in 6-7yr basketball training classes scheduled on Wednesday. Since 2 month has passed but the coach only turned 2-3 in the training classes. No one is there on training day except young staff who will be coming to time pass. After talking and inquired.the coach will not be available for coming days onward…

Don’t know why we are paying them the coaching fee when their is no one to train?

Trying to reach to Tyler, the manager he is not even picking the phone call or replying to the email. He is very careless and will not answer even after multiple try.

*update: now the coach is even not coming on the game day.
Parents have to come to be a coach for the day. Seriously?
@ymca please take of the matter seriously and act fast.

I actually Love going to the ymca. There are a few things I think they can improve on although I still give them a four star rating. So the ymca has a more expensive membership than any other gym but I wanted to join for their steam room and pool specifically. Unfortunately the steam room always has a funky mildew smell which a little eucalyptus may cure. The pool seems to always have a section closed with a few lanes open for lap swim but each lane is always full! And when you stand there as a brown person looking to join someone’s lane, they all look away: (I grew up as a kid going to the ymca out in New Jersey and thought it was a great place but guess things have changed. I still absolutely recommend this location but I just wish they would step it up a bit. And lastly but most important, I don’t feel the diversity there which does make me feel a little uncomfortable sometimes. They show super love to others but I feel they just brush the browns off a bit. Could be just my perspective since I feel like the only brown there sometimes lol overall a place I like going too.

The front desk lady has an attitude over issues on their side. This is the worst ymca customer service sucks and is so disrespectful then she expects to be treated nice. DONT GO HERE!

The gym itself is good, staff is usually friendly albeit always too busy. There's always too many people for them to handle. My main issue is with the pool and 75% of the reason why we signed up. Both the lap pool and family pools have a nonsensical schedule that is just not convenient for us at all. Moreover, the lifeguards are always too busy chit chatting amongst themselves to care about guests other than when in the water. The lap pool is always occupied by swimming lessons to the point where the kids can't even take the swim test. This place is all about taking our money every month without fail but can't bother itself with being more flexible.

YMCA in Houston only seems to hire certain target groups. If you aren't in their target, you can forget about being hired despite your qualifications. Perhaps they need to reevaluate their processes and upper management. They seem to be over priced for what you get too.

The Weekley Family YMCA is a credit to the community. The people that work there are fantastic! Helpful with great attitudes and smiles, love the staff. The members are a lot of fun. All ages and backgrounds. Fun kind and engaging and friendly people. The community of members and staff makes this Y super appealing. Makes it easier to get out there and get active and enjoy yourself because you are among friends. The Weekley Family YMCA is an important and positive part of my families life. Grateful.
