Like so many others before me I arrived here fresh out of prison. I was there for a little over two years And in that time I have come to know the owner and the manager of the property. Without a doubt they have a heart for humanity and care about all those that come to their doors and because of them I walked out and even better person than I already was. I have seen them take measures to beautify the property and take care of the property as well as it's tenants. They have an amazing kitchen where you can prepare your own meals if you like, and a quaint relaxing area to enjoy the day outside in The meals that they cook and provide are awesome and you have other former tenants like myself that come through occasionally and provide meals or barbecue and help out because they have been such a help to us. They help clothing and other necessities, and are very affordable. Living here helped me focus on reintegration into society and save money for my eventual move out into my own place. The staff and tenants are respectful and understanding of the needs of those with substance abuse issues and legal issues. The manager Eddie is without a doubt a kind, humble and intelligent human with compassion but by no means a pushover. If you are looking for a place to stay as your transitioning back into society I highly recommend coming to the welcome house where they truly do make you feel welcome. And when your time is up there you are always welcome still! I enjoy my once or twice a month drop ins to check on everyone.the owner Mr. Johnson is a first class citizen and example of what can happen when you choose to take your life in a different direction. What a perfect name The Welcome House.

I went here when I got out of prison, the people and my roommates where all great, and the home cooked meals where the best. Eddie the manager will help you with all he can. All and all I give this place a 10 star review if I could.

This was a very good place to start over. That was a time where I could not have instability in my life. While life can be a four letter word, Mr. Workins helped by providing a stable place to stay. Issues? Sure. But stay in prayer, and be grateful and mindful. Take it one day at a time, one hurdle at a time. I will always be grateful to Welcome House and to Mr. Workins.

After doing 27yrs in TX. Prison system I was blessed to be able to land at the welcome house. I say blessed bc it was the best place for me at this point in my life. I didn't have any family, never been to Dallas.and these guy's welcomed me, clothed me, feed me, and most importantly share the Love of CHRIST with me. Within 2weeks, I had full time job, paying my own way, and succeeding in life. Dr. Johnson feeds us spiritually and shares his wisdom and experience with all that desire to make it in life. I was never hungry while I was there. Mr. Workins (manager) is stern but fair. He won't stand for non-scense and will give you his shirt off his back, then showed you how to take care of it. I can't say enough about the welcome house, because this place believed in me. The above photo is my wife and I, who I met while living there. We've been married for 5yrs now, and we still communicate with the welcome house. We are family and treat each other as such. Thank you all so much for the Love and guidance you gave me.

I have nothing but good things to say about The Welcome House. Dr Johnson has a great reputation and is willing to help those that will help themselves. The house manager, Eddie, is a great cook, and always has something humerus to say. The rent is certainly affordable and the location is close to a bus line.

I can't say enough about the welcome house. They have been supportive and beacon of hope for people trying to transition from incarceration to society again. Not only that but helping people with alcohol and drugs problems stay clean and sober. Going above and beyond with resources and support that most places wouldn't. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Eddie have been a blessing to a lot of people. Worth every star.

When I was released from the military and not having a dime to my name; mr Johnson and mr workins took me in. They gave me a safe and clean place to live. The house recently went under renovation improving the living conditions. ; which made my stay here even better.

My name is Isaiah Hill the welcome house. Mr Johnson help me out a whole lot If any body ask me is the welcome a good place to go to i would give them thumb up. I was there in Oct 2016 To Jan 2017. Its really is a good help for you until you can get back on your feet. MrJohnson will help you with anything if he can. I call every now and then to ask him how is he doing. My wife always said she love the way Mr. Johnson ran the welcme house she knew i was safe there. And plus every week they had a AA meeting there and he make cheer you have food and that we was comfortable Me and my wife love Mr Johnson at the time i was there.when a man name Berry worked for him and after he left Kevin work but the both of them was good. They cook and keep the place clean and made cheer everybody did what they suppose.

I went through the Welcome House in 2001. Greg was managing it back then. I came from Baltimore, straight out of a 30 day treatment center, and was greeted by kindness. While it was bare bones in a lot of ways- I was so grateful. They introduced me to the programs, to meetings and conventions. We went to a baseball game and played spades and ate dinner together. They gave me structure and held me accountable. I stayed clean while I was there but unfortunately after leaving against all advice- subsequently used again. Although I struggled for a few years- I now have 14 years clean. I will be forever grateful to this program and it will always be a part of my story.
