I called to make an appointment as a new patient these folks tell me well if you don't want to be a permanent patient we can't accept your child what the heck how can I say yes I want y'all as our primary doctor we don't know anything about y'all we don't know if we're going to like y'all this is the weirdest mess I've ever heard but thanks for helping me choose elsewhere definitely a red flag

Dr. Angela Mix goes above and beyond any doctor I have ever experienced. She genuinely cares about her patients, she has stayed me and and my son for hours, called over the weekend, texted me to make sure my son was doing okay after visits. Her nurse staff is also amazing and they are all so sweet! If I could give Dr. Mix and her team 10 stars I would! If you are looking for a pediatrician, I couldn't recommend her more!

Dr. Reed was great with our two year old daughter. Wasn’t the most exciting day for her…Shot Day! …two of them. Dr. Reed helped keep her engaged and at ease leading up to. Great with her! Highly recommend Dr. Reed.

Great office, super pleasant staff; especially love Dr. Reed who is so attentive, gentle and kind with my [now] one year old. We've been with Dr. Reed since our baby girl was born, and are so glad we found her! I've referred friends to her, and would highly highly recommend!

I highly recommend West Plano Pediatrics! My 3 kids have been here since birth. The doctors are amazing! I especially love Dr Rixney Reed; I have known her for at least 20 years now, so when I heard she was joining the practice, I was beyond excited. She is patient, kind, trustworthy and compassionate. She loves kids, and truly wants them to be healthy and strong. She always wears a friendly smile, is patient and kind, has a way of making kids feel special, and parents feeling confident that their child receives excellent care. As a black mother, I love that she can provide a different perspective on things because she is also Black, and understands how culture can affect health. Plus finding black doctors in Collin county is just rare!

Unorganized staff. I paid in full immediately after our appointment. 5 months later I'm getting a bill stating I didn't pay for something. Why didn't they charge me for this when I was checking out? How can I trust what they are charging me now is something I didn't already pay for? The miscellaneous charge clearly did not exist when I was checking out and now magically I owe something. Truly ridiculous.

Dr Mix has been our family pediatrician for 8 years. She met with us before our first child was born and made us feel completely at ease at a time where we had so many unknown questions. She set us up with the best specialists. She cares for her families like they are her own. No question or concern is too small. If, I as a parent, feel something is off, she supports me and looks into it further, gives me recommendations, or gives me the tools to seek additional help. I cannot thank her enough for her generosity with her time and commitment. I will be sad when the day comes that my kids are too old for a pediatrician, because I view her as a great partner during our unpredictable young family years. Five stars because I’ve never had a complaint, and I feel fortunate to have found a pediatrician office like this one.

We have been seeing Dr. Mix since my now-toddler was just born. Dr. Mix is incredibly passionate about her patients and their care, and it shows. I love the energy she brings into the room; whether it is a yearly check-up or a sick visit, she takes the time to connect with her patients and discuss the care plan in detail with the parents. My baby loves going to the doctor and actually looks forward to me taking her to the office. The staff is friendly and proficient at maintaining punctuality, unlike other offices with long waiting times. My teenager also see Dr. Mix, and we have had a similar experience with compassion and care. Dr. Mix and her staff are very good at scheduling same-day sick visits. They have always been kind to me by working out a time that accommodates my work schedule. I highly recommend Dr. Mix and their office.

We have been seeing Dr Mix at West Plano Pediatrics for 15 years. She goes above and beyond for my kids. She is very thorough and doesn't miss a thing. She also has great bedside manner both with them and myself. We never feel rushed, and she always takes the time to educate us. My three children have such varying personalities and she manages to build rapport with each of them. They feel comfortable with doctor visits because of her. Thank you Dr Mix and West Plano Pediatrics!

Dr. Reed is the best provider we’ve had. She makes us feel like we’re doing a great job and our questions are always valid. She loves our boys and always shows it. We have been bringing our youngest since he was an infant. I highly recommend this pediatrician!

We also love this office. They are easy to work with and do a great job taking care of our kids. The staff is responsive and the environment is clean. You won’t regret booking your appointments with Dr. Reed! She is knowledgeable, and takes the time to really listen to us to resolve concerns.

Yesterday I experienced something pretty sad.

First and foremost, I have generally been happy with West Plano Pediatrics. They schedule us promptly, return our calls, and have a great office and nurse staff. The other doctors I have seen have been wonderful.

I cannot say the same about my experience with Dr. Reed. Last year I brought up concerns about my younger child and impulsivity and how that has been impacting him. She said “sounds like he has ODD” and referred me to a psychologist. Now, I can understand the referral part if that is what she suspects. But this psychologist doesn’t even accept insurance. It’s all out of pocket. Not helpful at all. And to then drop ODD when I hardly brought up concerns with defiance? I evaluate children for a living and this baffled me especially given the family history of ADHD. But, whatever. I would have preferred her to ask for additional information from his teachers and myself to see if it leaned towards ADHD or something else before dropping a term such as ODD or referring me to someone that I wouldn’t have been able to access anyways.

At my older son’s annual appointment that occurred yesterday, Dr. Reed asked my son if he was in sports. He talked about some he had tried. I followed up and said that team sports have been difficult with his ADHD. (We have tried multiple ones from between ages 4-9/10. It lowers his self esteem incredibly.)

She looked at me and said “well, don’t you want him to have a normal childhood experience and at least try? ” What a horrible thing to say to a parent, no less in front of my own sons. I looked at her in shock and disgust and said I HAVE tried.

In addressing my concerns privately with her, she said she thought maybe we should look at a dosage increase since sports are hard for him. I had already expressed a dosage increase for other reasons. But NOT EVERY CHILD can do team sports. She didn’t ask any other ways I have worked to keep my kids involved in activities or peers or what our future plans are. She’s just checking a box in her mind I’m sure. I could’ve dealt with this ignorance but for her to insinuate that I don’t want a normal childhood for my son, right in front of him. …

I feel like Dr. Reed lacks sensitivity in dealing with children and families with disabilities. She is kind to the kids and does a thorough assessment. I’m sure she has many strengths and is a good fit for many families. But I highly encourage you to look elsewhere if you are concerned about your child having a disability or if they have already have one. I will not be returning to West Plano Pediatrics unfortunately.
