Had some friends visiting from out of town and decided to give this place a shot. Excellent wines and service! Food was great. Love the courtyard area.

The female bartender was rude. She had nothing to do and avoided waiting on me. Told me to go to the backroom. My other female friends were treated the same way. When I asked for a sample she poured it and stuck her nose into it.really? I shouldn't have to be told where to sit! We went to Pete's nextdoor where the service was great! Our large group spent a lot of money to be treated so poorly. I will say the male waiter was very good though.

This place USE to be great. Don't get me wrong, staff is great, food is really good (Alex, the main guy is awesome). However, new owners are in place.
In the past, you could bring you own wine and pay a corking fee ($15).
When new owners took over this continued; or so i thought. Paid $15 corking fee not to long ago (under new management).
Today I was charged a $35.00 corking fee. I was like WHAT? When did that change?
Server's answer was.that is what i was told. Manager on duty was owner's brother; so i understood and paid it.
This change was not posted.just dropped on us when we checked out.

Truly unfortunate.
You like average wine, this is a good place.
You like exceptional wine or want to drink you own, this is NOT the place.

Unfortunately my last visit.
Make sure you ask about charges UP Front.don't be suprised- like I was.

Really enjoyed our time here! We selected this spot for a extended family get together and was very impressed with how accommodating and helpful the staff was. We were able to pull together a couple of tables and enjoy the patio all together. They were out of the Malbec I wanted to try but was very pleased with the backup selection. Big fan of the salmon flatbread and the nachos lasted about a minute before a hungry family scooped them all up.

Some of our party complained about the flies, but I think that comes with sitting outside. Unless you could hire some spiders? But with inflation these days, who can afford that? !

I love it here! I recently reserved the back room for a private event for 16 guests. Our server Ana was amazing, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. The food was great and you could tell that everything was made with quality ingredients. The wine selection was immense, with something for everyone. The event was a girl’s night/birthday party and they were very accommodating to a rambunctious bunch!

This was our first wine bar experience and SO memorable! They didn't just give us great service, but gave us a complete wine tasters experience! We'll definitely be back for more!

Wine 101 in Helotes is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy live music in a relaxing environment. It's an ideal destination for families looking for a laid-back evening out.
The atmosphere at Wine 101 is incredibly inviting and family-friendly.

Items get prepared and brought out in no particular order; flatbread arrived and pita and hummus arrived 20 minutes after inquiry. Upon talking to owner/manager on site (drinking a bud light lime by herself on the patio) she claimed it was at the fault of her wait staff. Took no responsibility. Third time with poor service.

One of my favorite places to enjoy an evening out in Helotes. The service is wonderful, the menu selection for food and wine is fantastic, and the ambiance is always enjoyable with live music outside and plenty of seating. A great escape for people looking to enjoy a night out with friends away from the chaos of downtown. And certainly worth the trip!

My wife and I used to love to come to this gem in Helotes but after a trip today (1 April 2023) we were greeted with a complete lack of attention from the waitstaff. We went to the bar and the tender threw a menu down and walked away not even waiting to see what my wife wanted. She knew what she wanted but continued to sit for 5-10 minutes while the waitstaff helped every other customer that came to the bar. We then proceeded to sit in the courtyard since no one in Wine 101 seemed interested in taking our order. Once again we were ignored by the waitstaff in the courtyard when they would pass by they would look out the side of their eyes as they continued to ignore us.

This is a shame because the wife and I have always enjoyed this place but am afraid we will not be coming back until some changes are made in terms of training the waitstaff to be a little more polite and pay attention to the customers.

What a cool place! Great flatbread and top quality wine. Plus the outdoors space is beautiful and relaxing.

Great place to sit outside and listen to music on certain nights.
Wine selection is great.
Beer selection is not very good. Mostly Budwieser products and I don't purchase that garbage.

Chill spot a lot of wine selections and some good food. I got a BLT and the bacon was different and delicious. Live music outside too.

Food is astoundingly below average. I mean JEEZ… I believe this is the worst charcuterie board I have ever in my life had. The only thing worse would be Kraft singles and ham or a lunchable. Actually the ROI on a lunchable is much, much higher. Which is to say: the cost to pleasure ratio here is totally off.

I suppose I have to accept this place as a wine only establishment, but still — don’t offer me food if it’s going to be pure drivel.
