Wingate by Wyndham, Galveston TX

Probably the worst hotel I’ve stayed at it was Filthy, smelled, and roaches. We drove 12 hours and didn’t get to the hotel until after 12pm the check in process was very disorganized. We get to our room and tried calling front desk and no on answered. Please look at picks below. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Do Not stay here! Half way houses are in better shape.
The rooms are supper small, Bathroom is smaller then a closet.the exterior is discussing.

I just got back from this place yesterday. We stayed four nights. I stayed here in May 2020, and a lot has changed since that small amount of time. They have a roach problem. I didn't see an infestation or anything, but my rule of thumb is if there's one, there are tons lol Also, they will not change towels for you. If you want new towels, you have to go to the office with your dirty ones to get new ones. Their towels are only big enough for a three year old lol The staff is super friendly and I assume people steal towels from there quite often. We usually stay at a bougie resort off towards Jamaica Beach, but they are full til January lol so If you're too picky, stay at a more expensive place. I would stay again if I had to I mean it's cheap and I've lived in dumps in my 20's, so two baby roaches didn't scare me lol I like the Denny's there and Salt Grass, so that's cool lol I will return. I'm just glad the employees there were super friendly so that's honestly what will keep me going back. If you have insanely high standards, don't stay here lol

Not clean and hazard tape on the railings. Parking lot has pot holes. Needs new door mats. They are reusing toiletries in rooms. Showerhead not adjustable for short folks.

This hotel has the quality of a motel. When we checked in the elevator is not working. Wifi is down for 2 nights. The phone in the rooms are not connected. There were tiny unwelcomed visitors in the bathroom. The only good thing about this place is it's along the beach.

If u like roaches this is the place for u they are in the shower the coffee pot and even the bed so u won't be sleeping alone

This hotel is probably one of the worst places to stay in Galveston along Seawall Blvd. I'm giving this place one star because it's close to the beach. If it wasn't close to the beach it'd be a zero. First off our bed had paw prints on the top cover but considering it's already past 10: 00 p.m. And you're just tired, beggars can't be choosers. The elevator was broken.and the wifi was also broken.

Our bathroom was worse. My wife freaked out when she saw a cockroach but thankfully it was a clump of someone's hair stuck to the wall. Our shower head had duct tape wrapped around it, I'm assuming they ran out of shower heads so they had to MacGyver it. And for some reason the shampoo and conditioner was either left by the previous guest or the hotel did not have a matching set.

Basically you pay for what you get for my advice is to pay a little extra somewhere else. If anything this hotel was a place to store our stuff while we attended the conference throughout the day. By the way please do not trust the beautiful photos that others may have posted because it definitely doesn't look like that.

Stood in the lobby waiting for 10 minutes before we finally made enough noise that the person in the office heard us over their earplugs.

Accepted our foreign bank card processed the payment then decided the card was "rejected" nor would they accept legal tender (cash) had to go up the street. Where they accepted both without issue.

Not a place to go unless you book via a third party travel portal. You don't want to try and deal with the front desk

Horrible Hotel caution tape on the railing, Filthy inside and outside, elevator and AC in room not working. Cleaning people not cleaning, waited till 6pm to get a clean room on 1st floor and found hair, shells, and cheerios on the floor. Totally disgusted left first thing in the morning after finding another Hotel. Would not even give 1 star but only way to post

Great location right on the beach. Room was clean and bed was comfortable with many pillows. Price was right. I'll be going back.

Great experience, the ladies on the front desk nice and efficient we got our room in less than 10mins. Nice room.

Hotel was pretty comfortable and price was affordable. If I ever come back to Galveston I might stay here, beds were nice, bath was nice, prices include breakfast. Location is right infront of the beach also! Very recommended.

Very grimy place as soon as you walk in you see it but I could not cancel so we stayed the night.towels should be white they were a grimy grey color ugh bedding was clean but very uncomfortable. Elevators did not work nor ice machine. Front desk young girl

We had roaches in our room. I'm not talking about seeing one little one. They were on the phone, the TV, the nightstand, everywhere. The moment the lights went out, they were crawling all over. They did change our room but I'm not sure the new one will be much better, have not seen a roach yet, but the room kinda smelled like raid when we walked in so maybe that's what's keeping them at bay. For now.

We visited some friends here while in Galveston
Pretty seedy, older hotel. I wouldn't stay there.

I've been to Galveston alot. My advice is this Best hotel to stay in Galveston for the price. UNBEATABLE RATES. UNBELIEVABLE VICINITY TO THE BEACH. CLEAN ROOMS GOOD BREAKFAST. Friendly staff. Book now

Roach Infestation, Elevator not working, Ice maker broken, Pool dirty no full of bugs. I had to check out at midnight and find another hotel. Stay away from this place!
I am still awaiting my refund 2 weeks later

ROACHES -Booked through hotels.com and it said 3 stars. Was taking a cruise the next day and was checking in around midnight so we just needed a few hours of sleep and the price was around $60. We got there and it was sketchy already but we decidedto stay and even got a 2nd room to be more comfortable, the lobby smelled "old" and definitely needed a face-lift, that is until I walked to my room and realized the hotel needs to be demolished and rebuilt.
-Elevator wasn't working and my room was on the 3rd floor.
-Ice machine did not work
-Caution tape was placed to keep you from walking through a missing piece of railing on the second floor (extreme danger!)
-Phone did not work (in both rooms we got)
-Rooms smelled of a strong raid odor (should have been a red flag)
-ROACHES were on the floor as soon as we walked in, on the walls, on the TV, on the toilet and especially in the shower/tub WITH THE LIGHTS ON.
We walked right back out, and when we reached the parking lot to walk over to the lobby another family was also packing up and headed to the lobby to complain about the infestation.
-Front office lady was nice and understanding of why we wanted a refund, and gave it to both families.
-Location is right across the street from the sand and in the Dennys parking lot. Honestly they need to burn it to the ground and start over.

WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN until then.

Floor was dirty, found a roach crawling down the wall. Had to borrow a broom from housekeeping to get the floor swept.
