Woodstock Inn & Resort reviews
21Thank you Woodstock Inn for the fabulous get-away. We receive such a warm, friendly welcome from every member on staff. The attention to detail and guest experience is evident throughout; from the large fireplace, the twinkling exterior lights, the amazing spa and accommodations. The cuisine is also first rate! We will return soon.
Such a beautiful hotel! As soon as you walk in the door you are met with incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. The grounds are gorgeous and the inside of the main building is from another time. A MASSIVE fireplace keeps the lobby warm and creates a welcoming environment to socialize with other guests. If solitude is what you’re looking for, grab a bottle of champagne and enjoy quiet elegance tucked away in one of the many beautiful rooms off the main lobby. There is a wonderful gym and spa, great food and beautiful views. You won’t be disappointed. It is well worth the price.
In love with everything, rooms are gorgeous with delicate details. Restaurant menu is delightful. Bar cocktails beautifully crafted. Had a wonderful experience.
We were very disappointed that we reserved and paid for something that was not delivered. We received an email the day we arrived letting us know that all of the regular restaurants were closed and we would be provided with a buffet. Even the full breakfast menu included in our nightly rate was a limited buffet. They offered no compensation, at $400 a night, they should be embarrassed.
My experience here was disappointing. However, since my original posting, the management has reached out to me, and their response has been very gracious.
This is my favorite Vermont home base to explore the area go skiing and relax especially in front of their signature fireplace. Very warm and comfortable place to stay and hangout.
This hotel is incredibly overpriced for what you get. For reference, we stayed at the Claremont Hotel and the White Barn Inn, (an Auberge property) both in Maine, in the days leading up to the Woodstock Inn. Those are both true luxury hotels with immaculate rooms and service and they were less expensive than the Woodstock Inn. The majority of the staff here seemed to lack a desire to provide an above average service. We valeted the car and when we wanted to retrieve it the next day they said they didn’t have a valet working and weren’t sure exactly where our car was parked. Just pointed us in a general direction. The shuttle to the gym, which is a mile away, wasn’t working and the gym itself was abysmal. It looked like they started building it and ran out of money. There was a puddle in the hallway covered with towels and not properly cleaned up for 2 days. The Red Rooster restaurant was busy so we had dinner in the bar area. We saw several groups of people turned away because they didn’t have a reservation. Understandable that they were booked but the man at the host stand was not at all friendly when turning people away. He didn’t offer alternative solutions, just curt remarks like “well it’s Friday night, what do you expect. ” This is just naming a few of the offputting examples. The most egregious part of this stay was our room. There was a big wedding going on and our room was situated facing the reception. We were maybe 40 ft from the party and it was loud until 10pm. We had no heads up this would be going on and it’s unacceptable to pay the price we did and not be able to sleep until the wedding ended. When we tried to put a movie on to drown out the noise we were unable to because the movie “system” wasn’t working. This place has no business calling itself a “posh” hotel and charging what they do.
Ate at Red Rooster restaurant inside resort. A fantastic meal. Not really impressed when I first saw the menu but food was outstanding. Service was wonderful. Ambience was excellent as well. Upscale new england/Vermont vibe. Reasonably priced. Only downside was there was a wedding party outside. The bass intruded on the meal somewhat.
This is a beautiful inn in a picturesque town that's walkable.
There are great free, self-parking options, but those quickly fill on the weekend, especially when there's an event at the hotel, like a wedding.
The rooms are comfortable and spacious but with small confined bathrooms.
I appreciate that they allow dogs, and it's a great touch that they provide a bed and bowls. The pet relief area is close to the "pet wing. " I must add here, though, that if you have a dog that barks or makes excessive noise if they are left alone (i.e, left in the room while you're out), I do not recommend bringing them. We had to cancel some very expensive spa treatments due to our dog barking in the room while unattended, and we were unable to get a refund.
They do have a few restaurants on-site, as well as room service. And while the food is pretty good, it's very overpriced. They are definitely charging for the convenience and location. Other restaurants in town are limited, overpriced, and have challenging hours.
The spa at the facility is beautiful and relaxing, but it's also way overpriced. They don't have size-inclusive robes for spa or hotel guests.
They are also not flexible for hotel guests that have to cancel last minute due to unpreventable circumstances (see the note above about having to pay full price for a missed service due to our dog barking in our room). I would not recommend their spa.
Overall, I think they are way overpriced for the experience and quality.
We reserved a suite months in advance of our one summer family trip and drove 10 hours to get there. So we were disappointed to find that one of the beds in the room had a huge dry and very odorous urine stain under the pillows. The Inn was full and they could not move us, so they brought us a cot. Next day we advised that we were leaving immediately. The manager Christine said all of the right things - this should have never happened, we will be speaking with housekeeping, we will refund your stay. Despite the promises, over two weeks later we've seen no refund, received no return phone calls - nothing. This should not happen in a cheap hotel (and in fact this has NEVER happened to us in lesser properties) - we are shocked and upset at the lack of response.
The Woodstock inn & Resort is the best hotel to stay at for the whole Vermont experience. We have been going to Woodstock for years especially driving through to New Hampshire. We finally wanted to have a mini getaway at the Woodstock inn. What a great time we had! We both started with a spa day. I had the deep tissue massage. The spa was very clean and had a modern feel to it. The staff was super friendly and the masseuse did an amazing job. My only dislike was the rooms were just alittle to bright for my liking. Which I got over very quickly. For dinner we went to The Red Rooster. Very delicious, and again the staff was on point. I had the grilled lamb for my main course. Cooked perfectly medium rare. If staying the night or just visiting Woodstock, definitely check out the Inn.
The guy who works in the fly fishing shop was amazing. Highly recommend grabbing some flies and intel here.
There are a lot of things to do here!
They have afternoon tea (serve some cookies, coffee and a variety of tea).
Visiting Billing farm and museum, also they have fire setting with marshmallows, chocolate and biscuits. They have a walk around the village to historic houses for ghost stories it was fun. Also, they have game room, Bussiness rooms and spa.
The room is clean and looks new the staff of the hotel starting from the doormans, reception and the house keeping are kind and friendly
I tried both restaurants in here (the food is average) but the service is good, if they can include some more dishes, and make different choices between the two restaurants, some dishes are in both restaurants.
Overall, I liked my accommodation here and highly recommend the hotel.
Never heard of this place until my AmEx recommended it. I was absolutely blown away - the food is amazing, the ambiance was perfect, and it was such a great escape. I recommend this place above just about all others!
The hotel room was amazing and the location is amazing but the food at the restaurant in the hotel was not that good we had to wait a long time and they kept telling us that the kitchen was backed up when there was barely any one in the restaurant
This is the quaintest place I have ever stayed. My 2 children and I wanted to explore Vermont and found the Woodstock inn. The staff is so friendly, the rooms and bedding so comfortable. I loved the grounds and the setting. We ate at the Red Rooster and really enjoyed it. There are lots of places to sit and relax inside and out.
My fiancé and I called to book a full day of treatments at the spa for our honeymoon. It seemed like a great place from all that I read on the website. We were so excited as neither of us have ever had a full day at a spa, and this being for our honeymoon would have just been so amazing! So we went to book a few months ahead of time to make sure we got in. The person we spoke to was so rude! Telling us it was rediculous to book so far in advance. When we explained it was for our honeymoon and we wanted to make sure we could do this together, she said that we could book now but if a wedding party booked a spa treatment, our booking would be canceled. I was shocked at the treatment we received with no consideration for the fact it was for our honeymoon! Needless to say we decided we will try a different spa that will treat us with consideration at this special time.
The food was simply amazing, the desserts were just okay. I would like to thank those who prepared the dishes and sauces.
I didn't stay here. We were shopping in Woodstock Vermont and we stopped in to have a look.
Great place to host a conference—beautiful venue and conference room and excellent food and service!
