Weary Traveler Freehouse, Madison WI

Man, the food was fantastic, and it travelled well for takeout, and just such a fun place. Would love to hang out there for hours with friends, and the menu has enough variety so there'd be something for everyone - both food and drink. Include this as a stop if you're near Madison!

The food is great. Short menu with wide variety but I've yet to find a miss. Great beer prices friendly service. Can't go wrong here.

Service was fine. The French toast was pretty meh and the potatoes were too salty and not worth the money.

We waited a really long time for our food, nobody ever checked on us and we were offered the check 20 minutes after we were done eating and then we waited another 10 minutes for the check. It was not busy as this was a Monday and there were a few servers so I did not see an obvious hold up. I got the Carne Asada and it was baffling how half the plate was tortilla chips, cold steak and some salsa and guacamole. They did not add the grilled scallions as advertised. All of our food was cold. Very disappointing and will definitely not go back or recommend this restaurant.

I had the Mulligatawny Stew, no yogurt, and a side salad (no bread as I am gluten free). Very large helping and it was delicious. I will definitely be going back!

I love this place! Everyone is so friendly and it’s just such a chill place! The food is awesome! Love the decorations on the walls!

First time back to an old friend since pandemic started.and like an old friend, we picked up where we left off! Delicious food, great service & wonderful outdoor seating.

I have never had a bad meal here. I’ve never had less than stellar service here. Chris always welcomes us in, Evan is a wonderful server, Andrew’s a great member of the bar staff. All of their staff truly care about making people feel “at home” while at The Weary. I’ve been coming here for years. I love being able to come here on my ‘not-so-good’ nights and leave feeling great. Wonderful food. Great soups, sandwiches, and their garlic potatoes hit. Love this place.

Great food, service and location. Come for the Bad Breath Burger, stay because of everything else that they do great.

I enjoy the Weary Traveler every time I am in town. Nice beer selection, love the appetizers and my goto is the reuben. Sorry no pictures as I was hungry.

I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THEIR BURGERS AND CHIPS. And their grilled cheese. Always a great atmosphere with friendly staff. Love this little gem.

They made me a Reuben sandwich without bread and my greens included verdolagas! I am following a very strict diet and they catered to it. My husband had the Carne Asada, he was very happy with it. We also tried the Hummus appetizer, it was delicious. The building itself it's a beauty, the art on the walls, very nicely displayed. I am sure that because of the lack of people working, it took them some time to prepare our food. The water was not to my liking, I like it VERY cold, it actually felt warm. Overall I I was very satisfied with my meal, and the service.

This place was fantastic. Great food, super staff, and they made a personal connection even though there looked to be only two servers. Great service during a busy time! Will be going back soon.

Very nice experience. Host was very prompt and clear. We were seated right away. The place was very busy which was nice.

Interior and decor was entertaining and interesting to gaze at while eating.

Appetizers were a perfect start and very large. I had the Ruben for dinner. It was huge and delicious. Potatoes salad tasted very fresh and flavorful.

Service was great. Waters were kept full.

Overall a very nice evening out with great food and service.

We took seats in their outdoor area. When I went indoors there was only one person inside besides the bartender. After we placed our order we waited 60 minutes. On several occasions we asked our waitress about the status and got 'You're next' or ' A couple of minutes' or 'Are you in a hurry? '.
Nothing ever came and we left an hour after we placed the order.
No one was concerned about the obvious problem. We ate elsewhere. Shouldn't be one star

Delicious food and excellent cocktails. Staff is friendly and service was great. The covered outdoor seating area was great. Carne Asada is always a good choice. I had the grilled walleye sandwich today and it was delicious.
