Food and service were spectacular. Upscale, but reasonably priced given the quality. I got the gnocchi with peas and mushrooms, positively incredible. All pasta is made in house, which is a major plus.

The menu is somewhat small, but it seems that is the best way to do it. Every item we had was fantastic including grilled calamari, lobster risotto (special of the evening, not on daily menu), and osso buco. The ONLY non-exemplar I could critique would be the bread, but that is personal preference. We forgot to request oil/vinegar/pepper/etc to dip it in so we just used the butter provided and remembered afterwards. Regardless, fantastic italian food!

My wife and I are happy we have finally found an authentic and exceptional Italian restaurant to frequent in the Scottsdale area. We came here with friends the other night after reading all of the glowing reviews La Locanda has received and we were not disappointed. Well, I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have more customers. I don't understand how a restaurant that serves food this good could have so few customers on a Friday night while mediocre restaurants with similar pricing have lines down the street.

Everything we ate here was exceptional, even the Maple Manhattan cocktail I had was well crafted. The food is reasonably priced, especially when you consider what you get. The pasta is made fresh in the restaurant, and the cheese is imported. The servers are exceptionally friendly, professional, and courteous. The atmosphere is cozy, like you are eating in the living room of your own home.

If you are a mushroom fan, I highly recommend the Risotto Porcini, Saffron risotto, with creamy porcini sauce finished with truffle oil and the mushroom bisque soup.
