The Commons at Sawmill Apartments reviews
27Move-in was a mess. Our unfurnished apartment was furnished when we arrived. The wifi router was unplugged and shoved in a cabinet, glad we found it. One bedroom closet was painted shut. The concrete steps leading up to the apartment are cracked and wobbly. Not impressed at all.
I've lived at the Commons for two years and it's been great! The location is perfect (10 minute walk to the HLC, 15 minute walk downtown, just north of the Urban Trail, etc.) and staff are incredibly helpful, professional, and polite. Any and all requests, maintenance or otherwise, have been addressed within the half-hour, and the full-size fridge/freezer, stacked washer/dryer, and dishwasher are awesome amenities to have in this studio. This has been an amazing place to call home-base through my first two years of grad school. 10/10, would rent again.
It was a smooth move in due to me and my dad being early and having a great spot in line. The only complaints I could have would be that communication was not exactly stated since when I received my COVID signature sheet, I was not told the folder was meant for me to take with me. I had to return to the second table to pick up my keys after we moved in.
Literally the worst experience I had with any apartment complex. My friends warned me before going with them and I should have listened. They charged me and my roommate $150 a month for multiple months as a water bill for our two bedroom apartment. We were really conservative about water and told them to check for leaks. They said they didn't find any and charged us that much for multiple months with no refunds. Though the apartment was not professionally cleaned before I moved in, I deep cleaned it very well before leaving and they never gave me my deposit back. I've tried to call over ten times about this in the last year with no response. Very, very disappointed and would not reccomend
Not a bad apartment, lots of maintenance issues but the maintenance crew is very nice. However, the management there is so frustrating, alienating, unwelcoming. Any nice reviews of management must have been bribed or dealt with the younger staff which actually have some sort of people skills are are somewhat friendly. However, I cannot stress enough that the management here is so incredibly unfriendly. If you go into the office to ask a question, you will be met with demeaning stares and a passive aggressive attitude. Sneaky and suspicious people who give no explanation to charges that you receive.
I just moved in but I do not see validation for negative reviews. The application process was easy and straight forward, the apartment is modern and spacious and everything is included. An amazing "bang" for my buck! The staff was patient and helpful. I am grateful to have found such a home!
I like living here, the apartments are roomy and nice, we’ve had to call maintaince a lot because we live in an apartment that’s been vacant for a while but they usually fix our problem within a day, the staff is super nice.usually everyone is pretty quite and layed back. Over all it’s a good place to live.
This place is literally the worst. It is a bigger headache than what it is worth, and I promise you'll hate every second you have to deal with the dreadful staff. Honestly, the staff here are the center of every problem I can think of. They're the most unhelpful, rude, and inconsiderate bunch of individuals I've ever met.
Horrible place.
This is the hands down worst place to live. Over priced, horrible management and gross living conditions. The front desk gals are rude and un-helpful. They treat people like there 12 years old and not as a customer. The only good thing about living here is that it is close to campus. Me and my buddy's cannot wait to live somewhere else next year. If you are reading this please do not live here you will regret it every day until you get to leave.
So grateful to have found this place! It’s very clean and well-built. A quiet safe place to live very close to campus, 7 min bike ride 12 min walk. Management is very helpful with the few Maintenance requests I’ve had.it’s very clean and the apartments are spacious.
Last year I lived at very loud party apartments, I am so glad to have moved. I feel very peaceful living here. Great for pets as well. Highly recommend!
All the five star reviews for the Commons are employees- thanks FB. Initial impression of the place is that it’s pretty dirty in the rooms and the staff couldn’t care less. One star to offset the fake five stars
You're buying for location if you're going to NAU. I haven't experienced anything troubling, but it's not a luxurious complex. I had no problems with internet or cable. I will say that it's not exactly wheelchair accessible. There are ramps for any apartment on the ground floor, but I'll say it's quite silly to have a ramp if there will be a car parked directly in front of it. I don't use a wheelchair, but I supposed this could be a heads up for anyone this may concern.
Pay 50 dollars a month for parking to get towed at 228 dollars anyways and have an indifferent staff explain ad nausem how it was your fault for not parking in your designated parking spot in spite of the fact that this was never explained. Oh ya, this place is great! Not to mention it is nearly 1200 dollars a month for a sub par apartment at best. Live anywhere else would be my advice.
It's a great location, it's an average rent for Flagstaff. Yeah you have to pay for parking. The wifi cuts off a lot every day. I mean, I've had better than this, especially since there isn't even a gym or extra amenities in the complex.
Oh and that clubhouse? It's been 7 months and it's not completed.
Do not live here! Horrible management. They slap you with as many fees as they can, make you pay for parking at your own residence, have no guest parking and tow any guests that park there. They make you pay for their provided wifi, which stops working often. The Commons generally makes life more difficult and threatens to evict you for any minor offense. I strongly recommend finding somewhere else to live.
Okay apartments. But the management is unbelievable. They bill you for anything they can think of. If you don’t pay you get evicted. DO. NOT. LIVE HERE
This place is the epitome of money sucking, lying, corporate foolery. The management is pitiful, and disgraces the idea of customer service. They could give a damn about you, all they want is your money. They currently stand in violation of my lease, and tried to get me to sign a back dated addendum to cover it up. They treat everyone differently, and WILL NOT provide copies of original utility billing statements to residents to prove billing is done justly. Rent is astronomically priced for what you get, and they have the audacity to raise the rates for the next year. Management will give you the endless runaround, and I am days away now from retaining a lawyer to sue out of my blood sucking lease that they violated. Stay away from this place. It is nothing but lies and hundreds of dollars in fees.
Thanks to the staff at Commons at Sawmill. They are so nice and always very helpful. Thanks to Cody Stidham for being a great maintenance man! And fixing all the things that need repairs.
Oscar was very helpful and professional, he was most knowledgeable, me and my wife had a wonderful experience, Oscar not only showed but gave great details about Flagstaff and the location. 5 stars
I love living here, very comfy and maintenance is always ready to help me with anything. Cody and Paul are very funny and nice, I would recommend anyone to live here.
