Amoeba Music reviews
32If you need vinyl, they've got plenty of it at very good prices! Got a grateful dead vinyl album for under $15, that's unheard of.
I usually go there just to find all movies that I want. Sometimes I have it sometimes I don't. But I think that's pretty normal here. It's a hit-or-miss deal. The staff is always friendly and it's always clean. I definitely have no bad things to say about it.
Best place to buy your Vinils or CDs EVER. Really nice staff and an amazingly huge collection. And in one of the best spots of San Francisco.
Oh wow! It's been along time since I've been to a record store. I was shopping for stocking stuffers and needed a few CDs. With a list in hand I spent a good hour searching through the store and found most everything that I needed. There were a couple of CDs that I could not find and I stopped to ask the man at the information desk for help expecting to hear that they weren't carrying these particular CDs but I was wrong and he found them for me. What a wonderful service he provided. I definitely will come back before next Christmas in search Of Music.
Visited here in late 2010, came up in conversation recently so I thought I should write a review, this place is for lovers of nostalgia, it has everything and more, a great selection of music tons of cult films i did not know about till I walked in that store and its massive catering to everything almost. I plan to go back hope it has not lost its charm
Really terrible live music and mic feedback to round out your time browsing antiquated media. Wasn't for me
This place was really cool. Definitely a good vibe, very interesting atmosphere. This place is definitely worth stopping in and checking out. Also great for gifts for others.
Quite possibly one of my favorite places on the planet! The selection is great and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.
"Thats where we got chromeo. What do you think? " -the girl. Not bad. Seems like record stores now knoe they are worth more than 4 bucks used. Tragic.
A great old school shop full2d with music and memeorbella. A dying store style but this one will last for a long time.
Great selection of new and used items. Knowledgeable staff. Plus it's a great place to trade in your old music for store credit.
Famed for being one of the biggest record stores and for being situated in the historic Haight, Amoeba is just about everything you'd want out of a record store, offering large selections of just about everything (although curiously they didn't have anything by Bazan or Into it over it, which I find hard to believe still). Their biggest enemy is, ironically, their location. Rent must be astronomical to justify some of their prices (and what kind of record store doesn't have $0.99 bins?) but they do offer some good prices on Criterion movies, if you're in the market. I miss Rasputins though.
