Barstow / Calico KOA reviews
22After a long day on the road, I took a cabin here. Absolutely beautiful cabin with bunk beds for kids, a queen sized bed for adults, a bathroom with a shower, plus an HDTV. Glancing! WOW!
Shaded sites, excellent wifi, friendly service and surprisingly quiet despite its proximity to the Interstate. Best of all, we pulled in with a non-functioning RV fridge. The problem was a broken gas valve burner assembly. It turns out that Roberto, the owner, is also an RV fridge repair specialist. A previous technician was unable to source the part, as were we after calling shops from Fresno to Bakersfield. Roberto had the part and installed it quickly. Thank you again Roberto!
It was just a quick stop for us. Mainly to shower and get a good nights sleep before moving on. Showers weren't the best. Very small and no where to really put your stuff so clothing got wet. But the campground was decent for what we needed. It served its purpose
Yo, i am at the Yermo Pilot truck stop. I drive truck for a living and have for 27 plus years, i service health care warehouses. That is it!
Just stopped for the night. Nice site with full hook-ups & privacy bushes in between some sites. Looks like a good place for off-road vehicles. Only down side is it's very dusty, which I assume the off-roaders like It's right next to Interstate 15, but it didn't really bother me. They also have fire pits & a BBQ grill in the RV sites The guy in the office was very nice & helpful.
We had a great visit. Its close to calico ghost town. Its 30 minutes from barstow if you need grocery.
Second time staying here, I like it. I stayed in the new cabins pretty nice. Quiet place and close to Calico trails. Will visit again.
Fine place to stop for the night. Staff is friendly. When I checked in there was only one person in the office and they had to take a reservation over the phone while I waited to check in. Lots of road noise from the interstate. Super tight way to get from your site out of the campground. I my 35’ fifth wheel was a challenge.
KOAs are expensive. There's no way around that. Once in a while, you do need to stay at one, and this one in Barstow is no different. It would be nice, though, if they would fix the little things. The brick patio at our site was actually unsafe. The wooden edges were broken and loose, they should have just been pulled away. And the dump at the campsite was in need of maintenance as well.this is a very noisy park, no fault of the park, it is right near the freeway.
Great park. We only stayed for two hours of our reservation but we hooked up, enjoyed the large dog park, and chatted with the friendly staff. Nice big spots, clean park.
This place you should stay away from, cable tv is very bad picture and you can only get about 8 channels out of 30. The park is very unkept and the staff are very rude. I gave this KOA a one star because there wasn’t a 1/4 star. Worst kOA I’ve been in. Will never return.ps the pool was closed the wifi didn’t work, no internet like advertised this place just sucks
One of the better KOAs I have been to. Sites are facing the wrong way, so in the summer I am guessing the sun will be almost unbearable.we were there in March, so not a problem. They do have shaded sites but for more money.most sites are pull thrus. Good for a 1 to 2 nighter.road noise is substantial as expected being right off of the fwy.
This was such a fun place to stay for dry camping. There was one bathroom, which was relatively cleaner than what you typically find in these situations. The toilet paper was well stocked.
I digress. This is an amazing spot for razors and ATVs. I wouldn't recommend dirt bikes as much because of the large rocks. One dirt biker was upset to learn he bent his rim after just a few minutes of riding. Just something to think about.
Overall, it was pretty crowded on the weekends but the weekdays were nice and quiet. We strongly recommend hanging out at this place for a few days. It is kid and pet friendly, too.
Only coplaint: Had to pay full price for cancelled night. We had coach issues and spent 5 nights in Fresno getting repaired. Been a member for 25 years and feel a.charge of 10 to 15 dollars would have been ok
This was an unexpected mechanical issue.
The grounds of this KOA are well maintained and the bathrooms are very clean. I can only give it 1 Star however because the Safari tent that we rented was not clean nor did the doors close and there were many holes around the tent. Our dog found clothing underneath the bed and in addition she almost ate a pill off the floor that was left by the previous campers. I cannot recommend based on condition of the tent and the fact that it wasn't even cleaned before it was rented to us. If you want to rent a very nice and clean tent go to San Diego KOA.
The laundry room is not good most machine don't work one had dye in it and ruined all our whites and sheets the staff isn't concerned with this at all.
What a great little hidden gem. After the bustle of Vegas we stopped in here and now plan to add another night. Warm, clean, super friendly staff and great pool. We will be back again!
We made a very positive experience in this beautiful campground, especially when our car broke down: Lacey from the reception helped us without hesitating to order a road assistance, so that we could continue our journey without losing a lot of time. Thank you very much!
Very nice Campground, lots of amenities and a good store with supplies for campers. The pool was wonderful, and Amanda was very helpful and courteous. Will definitely be back next time I'm in this area.
