Barstow / Calico KOA

Today we arrived in Barstow Koa.a very welcoming welcome and a great place.even popular and clean. I will certainly recommend this campsite to Dutch people traveling in CA.very professional set up!

Chose this campground because they had a pool. We visited the weekend before our scheduled trip to check it out. There was shade in the RV spots and a pool for the kids to swim. It was going to be the perfect first trip in our new RV. We checked in on Friday evening, the man at the counter was very friendly. We didn't go and check everything out until it was already dark. By this time the pool was closed so we went in and asked What time the pool would be open. He said at 8 am until dusk. My kids (15 & 11) went up the store Saturday morning to buy some masks for the pool. They gave the cashier the money and as she is handing them their change she tells them the pool might not be open today, they were trying to fix it. They were crushed! As they walk back to the RV with their masks they tell us the news. We walk up there and look at the pool. It's completely green! I go in to talk to the lady at the counter and ask her if I can return the masks since the pool would not be open. She said no, there were no returns. Then she said she told my kids "before" they gave her the money that the pool would be closed. My daughter looked at me in disbelief. She assured me that she did not tell them the pool was going to be closed until after she handed them their change. At at that point she said the pool might not be open that day. There was no communication at check in about the pool issue and no urgency to make it right. We will not be staying here again.
