I really liked this place. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly. It was also completely furnished with all the dishes unlike extended stay America, where you have to go to the front office and ask for what you want. I even left two rings on my nightstand when we left the hotel. But i called the hotel almost six hours later and they were still there. Fantastic! Thank you Clyde and the rest of the staff. It was a most excellent stay and will stay here and will recommend it to my friends!

Stayed at Candlewood Suites as a frontline worker during COVID19 pandemic. It is very nice of them to offer a discounted stay for those who fight the pandemic in the front lines. Very clean rooms, good location - close to the university, cafees, shops, and major freeways. Compared to other IHG properties; however, this one did not have some of the convenient features other offer - no free breakfast, no couch in the studio suite. There was only one central entrance for the guests who have a room key. While some other hotels in the area started offering one person at a time fitness center appointment, this one is still behind and keeps their fitness room closed. No appointment was needed for laundry. It is not sanitized by the staff between different users.

Be aware this hotel is right next to the Caltrain station. This may be convenient for some (as well as its proximity to Santa Clara University), but rest assured (or *don't rest, assured) that you will hear and see trains going by. Many rooms' windows face the train tracks. Albeit, most trains are travelling quite slowly as they pull into the station, and thus are less noisy; however, bullet trains that skip the Santa Clara stop will go by much faster. If you're unfamiliar with Caltrain, it at least doesn't run in the middle of the night (though starts rather early ~4-5am and the last train leaves ~midnight), so there is at least a break from train traffic for those who sleep "normal" hours.

Rooms are decently nice and everything looks pretty clean - although the cleanliness might be related to the COVID-19 pandemic (current as writing this review). At this time, you must wear a face mask and be buzzed in by the front desk. Vending machines are also temporarily unavailable due to the pandemic, which is a bit inconvenient, as all the stores nearby, including Starbucks, close pretty early.

One random complaint: not enough trash cans. It seems like common sense to me that you should at least have a small trash can in the bathroom. There was none in the bathroom or the bedroom; only one under the table connecting to the kitchen area.

And, finally, a random observation: I noticed they seem to have an odd system using yellow post-it notes stuck up on the walls near the ceiling outside some rooms in the hallway. I am not sure what the sticky notes are supposed to signify. Occupied rooms? Responder rooms? Rooms that need extensive cleaning due to COVID-19? I really have no idea, but I left wondering. There's clearly some esoteric system in place here meant to be decoded only by hotel staff.

Stayed here for work. I couldn't wash my clothes because all the washers and dryers were broken! And this place is very noisy.

There was almost ZERO social distancing here during the COVID 19 pandemic. Yes, they posted signs. The signs even say that hotel staff regularly cleans common areas. But they didn't! They didn't clean anything! They don't even make people wear masks! So nearly everyone was walking around without a mask, passing you in the hallways and inside the elevator. The hotel locked the laundry room. But they weren't cleaning it and the machines are broken, so what's the point?

Hotels DEFINITELY need social distancing, because anyone can come here from anywhere. But this hotel isn't practicing it, even despite it being required by law.

And this is the NOISIEST hotel I have ever seen.

Your room either faces the train in the back or parking lot in the front. Some trains roll through at 80 MPH, shaking the whole building. Or they idle outside. Some freight trains idle outside for hours in the middle of the night.

Or your room faces the parking lot where you'll hear loud exhaust from vehicles, people blasting their loud car stereos, or just yelling and screaming because they feel like it.

Good luck finding parking. The hotel has about 130 rooms, but not nearly that many parking spots. There is no control of parking. Anyone parks here from anywhere. I saw numerous people using it as carpool park and ride. People frequently park in the disabled spots illegally, the hotel does NOTHING about it.

And what's with the cigarette smell and cigarette butts everywhere? I tried 3 rooms before I found one that didn't smell of smoke. And you can't walk anywhere outside without stepping on cigarette butts. They are EVERYWHERE! This place is a cigarette chimney.

Service was terrible.

The desk clerk did little more than groan at me. They charged $500 against my card at check in without telling me. I only found out because my credit card company alerted me. When I asked the staff, they said "Oh. Its an incidental fee. We do it because our room rate is so low. " What?

Rooms are cleaned only once per week. And they don't do a thorough job. Mold was all over the place, especially in the bathroom. The floors were covered in BLACK dirt!

It seems like the hotel staff does not take pride in this place.

I definitely will not stay here again.

Really insensitive clerk. There were older people sleeping outside because she would not drop the $500 deductible. Terrible. Wouldn't comp a room after. Greedy Monsters.

Decent enough place. My room has a kitchenette with a fullsize fridge. No breakfast in the AM but has free laundry facilities that is nice for people like me.

Was disappointing. This was recommended by my company and I had ants in my room and had to raid the maid cart for toiletries

I love having a mini kitchen and a big room. My breakfast from my kitchen is better and cheaper than other options.

Really nice place. Pet friendly. Suites have a full kitchen area. Gorcery delivery is available. Perfect place to stay for a few weeks. Starbucks and bagel place 2 minutes walking distance.

Closest option to Santa Clara University. Our room was a studio with a queen bed, kitchenette and desk area which was still called a "suite". Room was clean although corridor hallways could use a cleaning and doors having stains and paint touch up that didnt match gave a an unkempt feel. Price was alittle higher than other nearby options but again other options weren't within short walking distance.

Excellent facilities, all you need, spotlessly clean.
The staff are very helpful and nothing is to much trouble for them to make sure you have a great stay.

The suite was very spacious with a kitchen. The front receptionists were very nice as well. We only stayed for 1 night but the experience was very pleasant.

Rooms have new carpet and are mostly clean. Towels are not very soft. Located by a bus station, train station and airport. Trains can literally shake rooms. No pool, no hot tub, no common room. But the staff is nice.

I had originally checked into another hotel for a work trip, but the A/C was broken and they had no other rooms. I found candlewood suites online, booked it and checked in around midnight. Check in was very easy, everyone was very nice and accommodating throughout my week long stay. The rooms are very cozy and well kept. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. Definitely recommend!
