I am out of state and was experiencing some heart concerns. I called my doctor and he said don’t take a chance go to the ER. All the staff I saw at this ER was very professional and comforting. They have an incredibly difficult job. It took about 6 hours to get tested, seen and discharged. But your time can change drastically depending on day, condition and other critical patients. I even observed how they treated mentally unstable homeless patients with care and support. Lending cell phones to people that couldn’t call home and to arrange rides for them. When an older man came in and collapsed, at least 10 doctors nurse and security ran to his aid. I would feel confident that in life saving incident, you will be in good hands at this ER

Despite being a donor to this hospital, I waited 8 hours to be seen and given a diagnoses as I was actively bleeding internally which was also accompanied by severe abdominal pain with 10/10 pain. I arrived as I was actively miscarrying and then later diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy. Care team was great, I have no complaints with the doctors and nurses that treated me. (You guys are all awesome)

However, my complaint is with the organizational structure at this hospital, short staffing in the ER, and leadership that has overwhelmed Sinai.it’s crucial that this hospital recognizes the severity of short staffing. We are in 2024, with the ability to call in staffing agencies/nursing agencies, I don’t see how staffing issues can be relevant.but here we are (cutting corners to save $$$$). Despite the blood work and the orders that are being done prior, 7-8 hours of waiting in the ER to be given a bed can actively put a patient safety at risk leading to mismanagement of patient care.

I understand that patients are seen by the severity of their symptoms, however sometimes silent symptoms can be most fatal. Don’t overlook a patient that came into the ER with stable vital signs because things can quickly head south if they are not treated immediately. Had I waited another day, and gone to the ER with these extremely high wait times my fallopian tube could have ruptured. We need new leadership at Cedars, until then, save yourself and go to UCLA ER in Westwood. Sad but true: (

MENTAL HEALTH ER is awful here. I heard them talk about me and they refused to transfer me to UCLA where I secured a bed and then proceeded to transfer me a terrible place that has 2 star review.

I was in the waiting room for about 12 hours with a possible stroke and a blood clot. Upon arrival, I showed the "nurse" a picture I had taken with facial drooping on the left side in addition to her knowing about my left leg swelling. I have worked in an Emergency Room before and know that a possible stroke is a priority one or two being one of two of the highest priorities yet they had me waiting for at about 12 hours in the waiting room. I was told by the doctor that he was prescribing me 3 months worth of prescription and that I needed to take the whole three months or it would not work. I was told they would give me one months prescription and that I would have to get a refill for the following two months. After waiting about two hours for the medicine after 21 hours of being at the hospital, they gave me only one month's worth of medicine and told me I would have to come all the way back to the hospital and be seen again to get the refills. Therefore, one visit didn't even treat me and I could have probably died in the waiting room from a stroke or the blood clot. What absolutel trash service. I would give this facility negative infinity stars if that was an option, but it's not so I only gave them one.

I go to this hospital because they always take care of me here better than in other facilities. The staff are friendly and courteous.

Everything but emergency. We went in the morning, we were given a room in one hour, which is fairly fast, then we waited forever. Nurse came an hour later and said “ I didn't know I had a patient”, ok whatever. Doctor came 3 hours later, said I’ll order some additional test besides the obvious illness. 1.5h after that nothing was done, I had to find the nurse, and she just then discovered that the medicine that was needed was prescribed already and it was waiting for me, I had to decline all additional testing since didn’t wanted to be there another day. I’m only giving it 2 stars because of the staff at TRIAGE that was super attentive and nice and caring

The doctors, nurses, and techs are very good but if you come here needing to be seen urgently your health is at risk. I have been here almost six hours and have seen multiple people with serious medical conditions (heart problems, recent history of stroke) made to wait for hours, even to the point that they leave. I myself have been here for 6 hours with shortness of breath and chest pain due to Covid, this being my 3rd Covid infection in 5 months. I was told not to leave bc my blood work was concerning related to my heart, but I still have not seen a doctor 6 hours in.when I asked for water, because the water fountains were not accessible and the vending machine was broken and I had run out of water, the woman who provided it was rude. Whenever a patient asks if they should leave, staff response is “it’s your choice. ” Despicable excuse for medical care. This hospital and this nation are both a complete failure.

Absolutely COMPLETELY understaffed—and ENTIRELY incapable of providing any sort of care that could be called in the English language a “Medical “Emergency”—under ANY POSSIBLE CIRCUMSTANCES! TOYALLY AND COMPLETELY PATHETIC AND UNACCEPTABLE

Called ER to ask a simple question about care for a broken finger. Was hung up during my explanation I kept calling back and she kept hanging up the phone without talking. Finally someone else answered and answered my question. Simple took less than a minute. Will head to another ER, all good. Wish you luck

EDIT 11/9- so im sorry to change my review, but since my last visit i received an enormously huge bill from my ER visit that the finance department has been unyielding on.my last visit i was only there because i was extremely dehydrated from nausea and needed an IV/some nausea meds.it took 9 hours but i was finally seen (after throwing up in the waiting room most of that time, just got a chair in the hallway, not even a bed). Doc confirmed tests were normal and i just needed to rest and slowly hydrate with help of meds.now they are saying i owe $5k because the code they used was for the second-most severe ER code (for moderate to severe cases, requiring complex tests like MRIs and multiple Xrays, or extensive/complicated surgeries). I did not receive that level of care, nor was my issue anywhere near that complex, but they claim this is the right code.it feels like fraud- especially since my insurance already paid them over $2k for my visit.ive been communicating with the hospital and my insurance for weeks trying to sort this out, now theyre saying the bill is overdue and want an extra $500 (even though a due date was never listed!). I understand the level of care i received, it was fine, but this billing situation is a nightmare.obviously this is beyond distressing.i'll update this again with the final outcome.

OLD REVIEW-
the reviews are very unfair.this is easily the most inundated ER in the city, and the priority is based on severity.i came once after a car accident and was seen very quickly.this last time yes i had to wait a long long time bc i was just having a very bad migraine and extreme nausea.ive always felt that the nurses and doctors here are kind and knowledgeable.and they have to work very hectic 12 hour shifts.im sure they are long overdue for an expansion and more staff, but come on now.it was pretty clean, had vending machines, and they also regularly took peoples vitals to make sure they were stable.i am very thankful for their service.but yes if you want to be seen very quickly maybe go elsewhere.

Literally just left this place, and of course, before my arrival, I read the reviews, so I expected a longer than normal wait, but this hospital got me seen right away. Went in with chest pain and upper abdominal pain along with some other issues, and they got me triaged almost immediately. Every single one of the staff that I came into contact with today was amazing! And the medical staff was very caring and thorough. Big thank you to these medical heroes.

I went there because of a weird rash as a result of 18 mosquito bites. My skin was red all over my ankles and swollen badly and itching like crazy. They don’t tell you how long the wait would be. I waited for 4 hours and they said the average wait time is between 2-6 hours! After 4 hours I asked how much longer should I wait? I was miserable and the itch was killing me. At least at home I could get some relief by icing it. They said another hour or so. I couldn’t wait any longer so I left as I was crying and blaming myself for my stupidity to wait for 4 hours before I left. The thing is that after one or two hours of wait you are stuck with this decision not to leave thinking what if they call you right after you left! No one wants to do that! But I did. The next day I went to Cedar Sinai Urgent Care which was fantastic. Within 15 minutes I saw a doctor. The ER was packed with homeless people. The restrooms were dirty. And if your immune system is like mine you may be better off to sit outside if you ever have to go to ER. It is weird because it was fully staffed and the nurses and reception are nice but I don’t think they have enough doctors. So if your issue is something that can wait Urgent Care maybe a better option. I know that they prioritize the severity of the issues but come on 4 hours wait is crazy even for a healthy person to tolerate. Their prioritization algorithm is lacking common sense. And I am thinking what if this may be the case with the management of this hospital and I sure don’t want to be admitted to a hospital that lacks common sense. I am debating on switching to another hospital. I am traumatized with my experience right now but it was enough to make me reassess my choice for emergencies.

I am very disappointed with this ER! Despite my struggle in budget I push myself to get a good Medicare PPO and chose Cedar Sinai as preferred hospital.
Service in ER is very bad! The staff are very callus and respond with a “tough luck” attitude. I came in with severe pain due to kidney stones and just before we left the house my kidney doctor made me take a codone. After sitting in the wheelchair for over 5 hours, the pain meds wear off. The nurse came out and injected me with another pain meds to shut me off. When I complained about how long I have been waiting and the reason I came is of possible infection on my kidneys, she said I just have to wait. It’s 12 mn and still waiting. No one coming out to pacify my wait.
I III have to look at other alternative hospitals. This is a terrible experience. As a BH chamber member, I will not recommend this place. I think CS is more than too arrogant and snob, brags about how this hospital is leader of all hospitals in taking care of diseases However, patient care is awful!

I wish I had done more research before holding the “cedars” name to high quality standards. So frustrated, so tired of waiting entire days as i type this review. If I could only take all of this experience back, I’d be healthier, have more time, be where I need to be etc etc etc.horrible unclean facilities, incompetent staff in different departments…

Its is absolutely insane and chaotic how long the waiting time is! They say it’s 8 hours waiting…

My boyfriend had a sickle cell crisis and his pain level was 8! We have been waiting for 3 hours now and he’s supposed to be in the priority list.

Nurses are giving wrong and misleading information, the waiting area is dirty and disgusting!

I don’t know how “ #1 hospital in California” could be with that quality of service.

Terrible. Only come here if you want to wait 7-8 hours while having difficulty breathing, the entire time and getting stonewalled, gaslit, and mocked by the staff. Their triage practices are a joke. They blindly only use vitals as the benchmark even tho they literally have a screen on the wall that says medical history, age, vitals, etc are taken into consideration to determine your place on the triage list! When I spoke up about this both times I’ve been there, the “patient liaison” just talked in circles and tried to mansplain “this is just how ERs are! ” as if I wasn’t at one the day before for a related issue. The volunteers are godsends and if you’re lucky enough to get beyond the waiting room, the doctors are great. But the waiting room is the worst I have ever seen. Inhumane, disrespectful treatment. The first time I saw this happen I thought it was a one-off bad experience but now I see this is how they conduct their practice and that there are a lot of similar verbal complaints from patients every time. They need a complete overhaul of how they run their waiting room and a change in personnel because there is clearly a toxic culture that is just about trying to conduct crowd control. The staff really doesn’t respect the patients or care about them, expect for the patient liaison who’s job it is to do damage control. Worst waiting room. Not worth it.

I’ve been sitting here for six hours and the only thing they did was take my blood and vital signs. Don’t go there you might not survive the wait. Even when you come healthy you might leave sick. Third world service.

Waiting for 6 hours during the day, the annoying part it’s that the nurses were taking other people (friends or relatives) with out the line.
I was asking for explanation from KAREN P.nurse why other people passing with out line:
Answer: It’s non of your business
Good job CEDARS - SINAI with a very bad customer service.
Can’t tell anything about the doctors or treatment, after 6h waiting time I choose another hospital

Well, yes I was waiting for a couple of hours which is annoying. But medical staff was so great so it totally was worth it! Dr Polansky, Dr Albert Kim, all nurses was so nice, compassion and caring! Best possible experience ever despite the reasons of me being there
